Landry reaching out to any LaCrosse recruits who have yet to put a downpayment down is not dirty pool. It happens at this time of year. Lots. "Hey Johnny, just want to let you know I've taken a new job at Wottsamatta U. I know we spent a lot of time discussing Pottsylvania, but I'd really like the opportunity to show you why I've decided to make the switch. I think you'd really like our new facilities, staff, tradition, academics, blabbity blab blab. Can we set up a visit for you?"

You are good, WW. Real good. Send me some info on Wottsamatta U!!

I would, but I suspect you've burned your eligibility.

UWL is my preseason pick.

This news, however, may change my outlook: "Waukesha West (WI) 2018 RB/LB Peter MacCudden has committed to UW-Oshkosh. Huge pickup for the Titans and head coach Pat Cerroni. MacCudden was four year standout at West. At one time held D1 offer from Ohio; also a number of D2 offers. #wisfb"

This kid is a stud, sort of reminds me of a quicker Dylan Hecker with his power- and even his occasional passing. On one hand I can see why he chose UWO as he likely sees himself in that Hecker role. On the other hand, come on MacCudden, don't you want to win the BIG games? UWO hasn't figured that out even with the most powerful running game in D3. Mr. MacCudden, in the biggest game of the careers of the UWO seniors, the top two running backs only had 18 carries in a game UWO desperately needed to run the clock.
UWW has some big plans going forward, come join the fun.

I don't think U-Dub-Dub was ever in play for MacCudden. He had a PWO from Iowa -- kinda thought he might take that, but I think UWO was the only D3 he considered. If you're wondering why he didn't get better looks from D1s, I think his being 5-9 has a lot to do with that.

You may remember the name from the 2015 Titans that lost to UWW in the quarters. His older bro was a UW transfer/stud LB on that team.

Looks like both UWO and UWW are doing well with area recruits/signings today. UWO appears to lead in Milwaukee metro numbers but guessing UWW makes that up in Illinois.

I have seen much dirtier recruiting tactics from UWW as a student their. The OC  under Brez in 2004 made up fake stats about UW-O just to get recruits. Coach Meyer didn't like it called them out on it and we got a visit from the conference commish about it. The sad part is they left the brochure that they created for all to see out in the open and the commish found it during his visit. The OC had some explaining to do to papa bear Brez and he was not a happy camper about them initially lying to him about it.

UWO made it easy for a new and true UWW recruiting slogan.

They would however there is NO SIGNING DAY for division three as they don't sign letters of intent to the school they plan on going. Your recruiting class is basically whoever shows up on reporting day in August for fall camp

I wonder what message gets reposted more often:
There is no signing day for Division 3...
Or
The D3.com rankings do not determine playoff teams or pairings?

Hey ww, my guess is you already knew there aren't signings, but now that dachamp screamed it at you, don't ever confuse us again.

Pat Coleman

So that they didn't have to post the position, I'm guessing. Does that make him technically an interim hire, though, with a formal hiring process in 2019?

I don't know the details of emergency hires but we did not have to post the position.  I think it has something to do with spring practice.  Smith also taught classes and his contract extends until May.  My understanding is that we will have to post the position at that time.

PS: I don't expect many applicants.  :)

My guess is Option C: WIAC schools have huge enrollments and low tuition, so they have an unfair advantage in D3.

Everyone knows that at least 200 kids sign-up each year on the sheet they hang up in the gym.  It's just not fair!

Actually we hang them above the urinals in the dormitories.

I'd expect Landry to reach out to the best of the UWL prospects he'd been recruiting, even the "commits" who haven't yet put down a deposit. All's fair.

That's cold, but you won't hear me complain.   :-X

I don't know if the coaching world has formal rules for this situation but "Non-Compete" clauses are a challenge. It's one thing for Coach Landry to decide not to or be forced not to recruit his UWL recruits to UWW, but the players aren't held to that agreement. I hope integrity prevails so there aren't hard feelings.

I don't know anything specific but I wouldn't be surprised if there are already some "hard feelings."  I hadn't heard La Crosse was planning on getting rid of Landry so I'm thinking they might be a tad upset about this.

I seriously doubt Landry will reach out to any La Crosse recruits.  If they contact him I suspect he'd tell them to stick with La Crosse.  Personally I can't see Coach Bullis being on board with that.

Hard for LaCrosse to be too upset with the guy leaving, given that he'll almost double his pay. The big regret he might have this year, however, is leaving Drew David behind. That kid sure impressed me. UWL is my preseason pick.

Haven't been on the boards for a few days (I guess I am behind), but I just have to say any reference to Bullwinkle is A+ in my book.  Well done.
What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

I see UWW received a couple commitments (I believe this is an accurate term since that's what they did) from one of our local high schools. Teammates Holte (WR/DB) and Mlinarich (QB). I'm anxious to see how they do given the great familiarity they have w each other. Obviously there is no guarantee they will make the team let alone start at some point, but the tandem has likely played together for many years. Hopefully they can time their place in practice lines so they are working together.
Perhaps they "signed" as an all or nothing deal. :)
