Any word on the potential impact of the UWO financial mess on the football program, particularly recruiting and financial aid?

https://www.wpr.org/uw-oshkosh-foundation-scandal-prompts-proposed-changes-other-campuses

My dad said tonight that UWO had eliminated any undergraduate financial aid because of problems with the UWO foundation.

And, no, I am not trying to troll the group.  My dad (David Riese '63) is a UWO alum (WSU-O, technically) and a charter member of the UWO Foundation Rose Legacy Society: https://www.uwosh.edu/foundation/rose-legacy-society

My grandfather (Ken Riese class of 1938) is a member of the UWO Titans Athletic Hall of Fame: http://www.uwoshkoshtitans.com/HallofFame/Bios/RieseKen?view=bio

Will have a small effect... most financial aid is federal based and not institutional.  There may be a few scholarships / grants available that UWO offers, but I would guess it won't affect a large number of student-athletes.

From the few glimpses I've been able to see regarding their recruiting class, they have gotten some really good players to commit. So unless this news changes their situation and causes them to reconsider, I would say it isn't affecting anything, at least this year.

WW

The only facility that requires upgrading there is the track. UWO is unable to host outdoor track meets. There's no other major athletics-related pending cap expense that the financial scandal would derail.

I see UWW football (on social media) posted that 6'3" 285lb DT/C "committed" to the Hawks. His name is Nick Boehm and he's out of De La Salle Institute in Chicago.

https://www.hudl.com/profile/4212221/Nick-Boehm

Edit: He's not the only one. Scrolling through their twitter feed they posted quite a few "committed" players. I don't recall the football team ever making these announcements so early in the year before. Lance always kept these things close to his chest until the last possible day it seemed like. I counted 5 or 6 incoming freshman that they've made public so far.

Interesting, but fun to see though.

I'm glad UWW is showing recruits. They need to regenerate excitement in the program and this is a good start. Once UWW gets back to championship ways, if there is concern of showing the recruits too soon, they can go back to the old way.

Boehm is a big boy w a little nasty in him.

Congratulations to former Warhawk offensive lineman and son of a certain poster for his recent promotion:
