What the heck happened to Oshkosh?!

It wasn't like Point did something offensively out of the ordinary as much as Oshkosh simply imploded due to their own mistakes. Oshkosh was playing on borrowed time all year - too many deficencies on offense and a defense that couldn't completely compensate. I think they have just run out of steam, not as much as Platteville, but when I watched today, they looked tired. The difference with UWW, when the offense sputtered for most of the early games, the defense picked them up by being lights out. Now the offense seems to have found a great deal of confidence - or should I say Cole Wilber has all of a sudden become extremely confident and decisive; the offense has really gained momentum the past few weeks. Today was fun to watch. The defense didn't perform at it's best today, but came up big with plays when they needed to. Stout's young QB is going to be a good one when he gets a bit more experience. Not a lot of good come from losing the turnover wars 4 to 1, Oshkosh found that out the hard way today.

Yep. UW-P imploded with 7 TO last week and UW-0 with 4 today. We've always said in the WIAC you have to be ready for a challenge every week. You get too sloppy and you will go down in this league.

Yup. Happy for the Point people too. That's a statement game.

What statement did 3-5 UWSP make?

Possible statement: "In spite of our struggles this year, our program is headed upward.  We just beat a program 11 months removed from leading Mount Union 35-10 in the third quarter of a national semi-final game."

...that is without their Gagliardi winning QB, top RB, and top WR from 11 months ago and has had trouble scoring for nearly all of 2018.  But yes, it's a very nice win for UWSP, but let's not pretend that this 2018 Oshkosh is anything close to equivalent to 2017 Oshkosh.

Congrats on winning the WIAC title and the AQ into the playoffs. Kinda like the old days. Not sure I feel all that comfortable with you guys in the playoffs. I still have some bad memories from a few years back. Names like Beaver, Coppage, Kumerow and others come to mind. But, good guy that I am, I wish you guys the best. Unless, of course, you have to play the Raiders. See you later?

It was actually many of the D3 Top 25 voters who thought 2018 Oshkosh was as good as 2017 Wally.   After watching them play Carthage I knew for certain they weren't and told friends that if we could score 17 points against them we would win.  I'm surprised they lost to Point but not surprised at all by who they are.

Yeah. Despite that 63 - 27 loss to the digressing UWL club.

"We don't suck."

Had Vegas put a line on this game I think it would've been 30. Keep in mind they have a true freshman qb making his third start. Also keep in mind the head coach and staff have been in place barely three months. Trying to remember the last Pointer victory over a ranked team. I don't think they had one in the Journell years.

Definitely agree that the poll has been really slow to react to UWO's 2018 quality.

Pretty sure you meant a tongue in cheek "regressing", but I digress...

Bleed, I know you were being careful to say "programs," but these two Oshkosh teams - 11 months ago and today, are very, very different. Point headed upward? You may feel one positive result equates to "headed upward." But taking a closer look at their results going back two weeks prior - blown apart vs La X giving up 63 points on 19/13 and losing narrowly to Stout on 10/20. For the sake of argument, I'd call it a fluke win vs a team in decline. There's the real statement.
