What's the scoop on UWRF? Not much to glean from their expected beatdown of MN Morris.

Bethel is breaking in some new players on D, but they looked solid week 1. We lost our stud corner mid-way through Saturday to a really gruesome finger injury. I'd be surprised if he could play Saturday, and Tavian is really good.

If Roste is connecting on things in the passing game the offense really rolls. Once he hit his stride against Simpson (who I think is pretty solid this year) the game just broke open.
I have been waiting for UWRF to break out the past few years. I love their big WR. He is a nightmare problem. Defensively they are small would be my worry against what appears to be a big Bethel team. UWRF at home in a program changing game, I bet they come out fired up. My upset pick of the week is UWRF to knock off Bethel in what will be a great game as it was last year.

The Warhawks looked pretty good. Obviously the WW defensive playbook Stan got from Craig Smith didn't help much again. LOL
The Hawks looked good and as an alum I think coach Bullis has this thing going. Hopefully this will be the year they get back to the Stagg Bowl.

WW defensive playbook-gate continues to be over rated.

From the standpoint of how little it helped UD on the field??  ;D

Yes ... and the way a couple of UWW fans go back to it each season.
Reality is for those who lack imagination 😀

Wow, over 10,000 fans @ WW's Perkins Stadium yesterday. Now that's what I like to see! We need more of that in DIII. ;)

Were there really over 10,000 there?

Really? You think we've overplayed the topic? How many serious references have you actually seen?
Contrary to your exaggeration, we've hardly given it serious consideration- I see jokes made about it.
In my reference to it I actually acknowledged that sort of thing probably happens often.

From my perspective, UWW fans have been amazingly constrained on the subject given the opening game was w UD and there was ample opportunity to make a big deal of it.

Yeah, 10k looks awfully generous. Still, getting north of 7k (no idea what the real number is) for week 1 and a non-con is impressive

Yeah, even if it was 8k that would still be twice the number my teams stadium holds!  Just pointing out attendance figures...even from my favorite school...can often be taken with a grain of salt.  One of the things I love about D3 is the variety.  The difference between Whitewater and a place like Cornell, both great places to take in a game, can be mind blowing.

I was at the UWL game vs CM. What a good game it was. UWL defense is legit good. Offensively they struggled to say the least. They switched to a senior QB mid way through the third who lead them to a TD drive and played one more series and was pulled. Concorida had their chances to win this football game. UWL started one or two freshman on the OL. Should be interesting to see how they look the rest of the way.

Seating capacity is 13,500, so there were a bunch of empty seats.

I'll be very intersted to see how UWL's defense performs this week against a veteran IWU offense. IWU has a chance to be really good this year as they return an all conf QB/3 yr starter and one of the better WR groups in the country. This game looks like strength against strength (UWL D vs IWU O). IWU is playing their first game and UWL has a game under their belt.

Here is the IWU preview I wrote a few weeks back:

IWU:

Returning starter/2 deep player not listed on 2019 Roster:
Starters: none
Backups: DL Derrick Fry (Jr), DB Justin Correll (so), DB Charlie Coughlan (fr)

Returning Starters: 12
Offense: 6 (17/22 from 2 Deep) 2OL, 2 WR, RB, QB (Zach Mitchell moves from WR to DB)
Defense: 6 (13/22 from 2 Deep) 3 DL, 1 LB, 2 DB
Key Starters Returning: QB Brandon Bauer, WR Zach Walsh, Jack Healy, DL Chance Hilliard, DB Trevor Koepke
Key Losses: Eric Dubose DL, Trevor Staley DB, 3 OL

IWU could win the title this year. They have a talented and deep offensive team with QB Brandon Bauer and what might the most talented WR corps in the country. A new defensive coordinator, some holes to fill on defense road games @Wheaton--where they have only won once in 21 years (though it was 2 years ago), and @NCC are the obstacles. They get WashU in Bloomington and the game @Wheaton is week 2 which is a big advantage to the Titans and their experienced offense.

That will teach me to research. I was under the impression Perkins capacity was 11k.

Not sure how they count attendance. Judging by the parking lot/tailgaters at halftime, many never entered the game, although I'd wager they had tickets.

That video also is from the opening kickoff, so more people likely entered.

It really is.  The team essentially blew it off before we even played  last year.  I can tell you that no one connected to program spent one second thinking about it this year.

I know it's typical for most D3 schools to fudge the numbers on the attendance, especially when they announce a nice round number, like 500. You know they have no clue. But, when your stadium has seating for 13,500, I think the announced crowd of 10,316 was, from what I could see in that brief view, pretty legit.
