Same could could be said about the MIAC officials in the UWO/Central game. On both ends. UWO should have been called for multiple holding calls. Blowing play dead way too late. Blowing it way too early (where a fumble should have occurred). Can't remember the last time I saw a defensive line player get called for holding on an o-lineman. There was a offensive pass interference  called on a Central WR where the UWO db fell on his own.
Wasn't a good day for MIAC officials in that game.
Agreed. Normally the playoff officials are pretty good, but don't care to see those guys again.

I watched 3 plus games all day and I got the impression the refs had a let them play mentality. Wheaton and Martin Luther game had only three penalties.  Both teams are among the most penalized in D3.  They just did not call holding calls like they have before in any of the games I was watching.  All 3 of the penalties were illegal receiver on Wheaton.

Wonder if there was some direction that came down from on high about that.  They let a ton of holding slide in Aurora-SJU as well

There were a number of times when rushers were being held after getting past the blockers. It was pretty obvious. And, emma, Aurora was a tough test. Their QB may be almost as good as Erdmann. He certainly has better escape skills, and is fleeter of foot. AU had 19 rushes all day, Zembelman had 11 of those. The Johnnies were lucky to get the win. All that doesn't negate my point. I will also agree that we have had our problems with MIAC officials too. So I sympathize on the note as well.

Hey Ret, officials and their issues are part of every game. I was just a little surprised your very first comment about the game was focused 100% on the refs and literally 0% on the game Aurora just gave St. John's.

His first comment on the Wisconsin boards was about Wisconsin refs.  It wasn't his first comment on the game.

My bad.
Boy, those refs sure made it hard on St. John's.

Ha!  I hope our teams both survive until the semi's.  It will be bitter.

No offense taken. You would not know about other comments.

I posted partly because I believe I've seen negative comments on this board taking the WIAC officials to task, and just wanted to see what response I would get. Yes, officials do miss some things, but when it's so obvious, and out in the open, I wonder what the line judge could possibly be thinking. There were some inconsistent calls/non calls on pass interference as well, but those are a bit harder, since most are split second judgement calls.

Is the WIAC significantly down this year? Never would have thought the Iowa league champion would come anywhere close to beating the WIAC champ.

Also thought UWW would beat Monmouth by 50+

Iowa league? How about the American Rivers Conference, where both teams advanced today?

No I'll will towards the ARC. Monmouth has had several great matchups in recent years against your teams. Just surprised the WIAC champ lost to a ARC program.

Keep your officials in the state please. They are so inconsistent, it's tough to watch..

To be fair, the MIAC's officials often head Wisconsin's way and that is an experience that no one deserves.

The crew officiating the Monmouth/WARHAWKS game was a MIAC crew.  Overall I thought they did a good job.  As the game clock operator I liked the pace they worked at.  No dilly-dallying just get the ball and restart the clock.   It was a young crew, maybe one of them was in his early forties.  The rest definitely much younger.

It was just my impression but none of them appeared to be dreading their upcoming ordeal.  They actually seemed to be excited about it in our Friday meeting and my pre-game meeting with them gameday.  Over the years I've personally met any number of MIAC officials who have worked our games and I've never had the impression any of them wondered "what the hell did I do to deserve this?"

So its Central on Saturday, huh? Central what? Central Dutch? As in Dutch Ovens? Well, that's weird. The last time that term was used in this household was when I use to pull the sheets over my exwife's head in the middle of the night.
Well I hope they got a lot of speed because looking at their roster, they are tiny.
I guess I'll keep the gameplan simple.
Dont let them pull the sheets over your head.
Aaaaaaanywho, UWO Titans 32 Central Dutch Ovens 5

Winner of that Wheaton bracket will make championship game. Potential to have some good games in it.

Mount Union over St. John's in championship game.

Nice call....ROTFLMAO

I made the mistake of turning the UWO game off at half time and mostly just watched St. John's/Aurora. Followed that up w Linfield/Chapman. Wow.

I tuned into UWO at 31-24, couldn't believe it like Bofa said, it was the Mt Union game all over again.
My wife and I were talking and she mentioned what a strange sort of resume the UWO coaches have. They've done a terrific job building the program, recruiting athletes and winning their share of big games, but they also own two of the most embarrassing second half collapses that people will blame on coaching. If your players were good enough to build those big leads, it's hard to blame the talent when the prolonged collapse occurs.

I was looking for that pressure off the edge they ran against UWW, maybe I missed it.

BoBo

I made the mistake of watching the entire UWW game. Is there any more annoying game announcers or pre-game/halftime crew as on UWWTV? I thought I heard of every stupid thing a human could say on a football broadcast until yesterday happened. They topped even themselves in ignorant opinions.
