Congratulations to both. I hope Coach Erickson has great success there.

I look forward to watching the D under Coach Rindahl. I sure enjoyed watching him play and I hope to see the D do great things under his leadership.

Not football news, but UWL will not be sending its track qualifiers to nationals due to coronavirus fears. They just won the WIAC indoor and presumably had a shot at the natty.

Wow. Do you know if other universities are doing the same?

I haven't heard, but it sure has the feeling of being the first domino. Not WIAC, but Grinnell (IA) has shut down not only the remainder of its spring athletics seasons, but the entire campus. Will go online attendance only for the rest of the spring semester.

The University of Wisconsin today announced that classes will not resume as normal after spring break on March 25th.  Instead,  they will have no classes on campus and instead find "alternative" learning methods until at least April 10th.

Interesting.  So let me ask this:  how do they do this in such a short time in regards to what the faculty would need to do in preparation of material?  I would think they would now need to be putting in a lot of overtime to comprise on-line lessons and programs if they do not have those prepared already as a back-up.  Certainly, many universities have had on-line programs for post graduate and graduate courses for several years, although I would venture a guess to say that perhaps most small liberal arts colleges/universities do not.  Do you know if Grinnell does and/or what about U of Wisconsin regarding the usual undergrad classes?

UW does offer a wide variety of classes online. I have a friend whose daughter is a sophomore at UW. She is going into nursing. Two of her classes are online this semester. But you are right. The preparations for those classes were undoubtedly made long in advance. This has been thrust upon the profs and instructors real time.  Spring break starts after this week.  The students have been told they will be informed how each specific class will be handled "before the modified 'classes' begin".  They have also established a new website: "Instructional Continuity Website" to provide support and general guidance as students attempt to navigate this transition.

With the NCAA hoops tourney cancelled altogether, I have to wonder if that will result in the cancellation of the D-III playoffs in 2020. Maybe we need to start a Gofundme account!

We have to think that the NCAA has insurance covering this event ... or that even CBS/Turner have to pay the NCAA regardless. But it'll be interesting to see how that plays out.

You may be on to something here Bleed. Basketball is a playground game. Pick an indoor/outdoor site and use the gofundme funds to bring the teams in for a weekend tourney- just like they do in the 3 on 3 events.
I'd pay for that entertainment.

Not football or sports related.

Sometimes I get goose bumps and emotional when I hear a great rendition of The Star Spangled Banner or with militarily fly-overs and other patriotic actions.

I've been getting the same feelings lately when I see the non-partisan, amazing commitment from private companies, local governments, national government/agencies and the really dedicated experts all coming together to find solutions.
Watching this all come together is like a giant Fourth of July celebration to me. Very thankful for all.

Kumerow tendered by the Packers, which means the Packers retain his rights. This is either good news or bad news, not sure which, depending on your fandom of Kumerow and/or the Packers.

I was reading some of the tweets on this, you're right that it's viewed as either good or bad news.
I get why some fans may see Kumerow in a negative light based on production numbers and even separation challenges. I see his value much differently. As a #6 guy a receiver isn't expected to put up big numbers, but contribute in a wider variety of ways, which I feel he does very well.
Imo a good OC can game plan anybody (within reason) into production. I didn't get the feeling that happened last season. With his blocking prowess, he can be used in run and pass plays more effectively.
Full disclosure I'm a Kumerow fan.

Platteville names  former Rutgers Associate AD Kristina Navarro as its new Athletic Director. Navarro is a UW LaX grad and has worked in the Athletic Departments at Madison and WW.  Coach Emendorfer can now concentrate on football and not be a part time coach and part time AD.
