That's interesting BW, were you able to attend?
Do you know if the scrimmage was first team vs first team?
70 plays is a game's worth of plays.

Good point on credit to the staff for scheduling- actually to the staffs of all four programs.

Maybe Carthage feels they match up well w UWW given the results of both programs against the common opponent of NCC.

The scrimmage was offense vs defense and both did rotations as they saw fit. The first teams did face each other at times. The defense was very impressive. Very fast and very physical. Definitely a lot of playmakers for sure. I thought both Lewandowski and Meylor looked very good. The others had their moments as well. The skill positions all have a bunch of guys back and I'm hearing both positions will be infused with some additional talent this fall as well. Freshmen Drake Martin, a RB from Rhinelander and Ty Poorman, a QB from Florida had their moments.

The game started with the defense leading 17-0. The defense got several interceptions, but I don't believe either Lewandowski or Meylor had one. The QB's weren't allowed to be hit, so the whistle ended the play when the coaches felt he would have been sacked or tackled. Poorman had what appeared to be a long TD run called back by a judgement call. Both sides had some great moments. It had the feel and intensity of a game and was a lot of fun for everyone involved.

Looking so forward to fall camp!

Good info Bleed, thanks.

I don't see mention of QB Oles in your summary- did he play? Is he still on team?
I don't recall a time when the competition at QB was so intense.

Congratulations to Ryan.
His name just fits for his position too.

New player profit rules aren't just for the power 5.
Do you see D3 athletes making a run at this?

This kid is taking a tongue-in-cheek approach that just might get him a few bucks.

That was outstanding- thanks for sharing. "8th best player on 6th best team". Lol.

I know some D3 track and field specialists are getting some opportunities via equipment providers. No big $ though.

Speaking of business, re your question on Oles, a LinkedIn profile suggests he has graduated and taken a position in the insurance industry.

^^
Thanks, it looks like you are right, Zach is now in the business world. Bummer for hm he (and so many others) didn't get to enjoy knowingly playing a last season.

Y'all ready for the .... ISTHMUS BOWL?!?!?! I dig it. Top WIAC team not qualified for the playoffs vs top CCIW team not qualified for the playoffs, played at Verona Stadium on the opening weekend of D3 playoffs. In 2019, this would've pitted La Crosse against Washington U. Sounds like they've got strong sponsorship lined up. Should be a quality game, and one more chance for the seniors to lace 'em up.

I like it. Sounds like Culver's is the main sponsor to hop on board. From the article I read sounds like they want to showcase Verona's new stadium. Hopefully it well attended and ends up being a yearly thing and not just a "1 and done".

Given Culver's support of the WIAC they should call it the "Butter Burger Bowl"

I'm already jealous. Can the IIAC and MIAC do something similar?

I would love to see that happen!
