Heading out to Oregon for a week. And you're damn right I'll be packing a couple UWW outfits, trying to entice some sideway glances from any Linfield fans. Even though the chances are extremely remote considering I'll be staying over 3 hours away from McMinnville.

Pretty cool- 5 teams receiving at least one first place vote in the D3 top 25.

With a year off there just isn't the same degree of confidence in any particular team's likely performance. This should be a fun season.

And 3 of those teams haven't played a down of football against anyone since 2019. Rosters are tough to gauge who is back and who isn't. Should be an interesting first few weeks.  Aurora @ St Johns on Sept 4 and @ North Central Sept 11; NCC @ Wheaton on Sept 15th; MHB vs. Hardin Simmons on Sept 25 and UMU @John Carroll sept 25. The top of the poll will sort itself out quickly this year.

I give Aurora a lot of credit- they are going big.
NCC w a tough few weeks.

We sure are being treated to a great welcome back September.

Aurora is one of the most intriguing teams this year. They've got weapons and speed.

On offense they are gonna be an issue, they only lose 2 OL and 1 WR. And one of their best WR's who didn't play in 2019 because of injury is back.  Defensively they have issues if unless the underclass pool is legit. They bring back like 4 starters on Defense. I'll be interested to see if they are for real or not in week 1 and 2.

Aurora looked fine but not great in September 2019 before everybody watched them run out of time against the Johnnies.  Whatever happens in week 1-2, that team is going to romp through the NACC and then go be a pain in somebody's tookus when the tournament starts.

I'm not entirely certain but wasn't 2019 Coach Beebe's first year? If it was (or even second year) I can imagine the offense was still figuring itself out in September 2019. I wouldn't be surprised to see a well oiled offensive machine next month. St. John's and NCC and others will likely have to go into the games thinking they have to put up big points- 35+ I'd reckon.

Yeah, I think those games will be shootouts. Fun to watch as a neutral fan, stressful if it's your team, but fun if you pull it out.

Thought maybe St. Olaf would be a decent opponent in scrimmage yesterday at UWRF. Wrong! Eleven possessions, 10 scores for Falcons. Players kept score: 72-7. Players were disappointed, wanted a better test.
Oles picked to finish only above St. Scholastica in their division of the new MIAC.

Here is a "limited" preview of the 2021 season for UW-W. It is very good to give us a picture of who is coming back but doesn't speak of the newcomers at all:

That's too bad. Looking at their schedule, it doesn't appear anyone in their non-conference schedule will do a very good job of exposing their weaknesses to prepare them for La Crosse. I guess they will just have to get better every day and let the chips fall where they may.

2021 WIAC Pick-Em games for this week have been posted.

The Platteville game is Thursday night, so please make sure you get that pick in before the game starts.
