I'm rebuilding warhawkfootball.com. I'm going to post content even as I build the site. Actually building the site to what I want it to be will take awhile because...well...I have no idea what I'm doing. But in the meantime, I'm going to post content. I started with a posting of random thoughts about my impressions of the team through fall camp. Look for "Warhawks Break Camp".  Next I will examine the position groups.

Good stuff, bleed. Found this bit of info to be interesting...

"Over 140 players reported to camp and there are only expected to be 108 roster spots available."

Cuts are new to Whitewater, based on my understanding of Whitewater roster construction up until this season, correct?

We usually have 120 some kids in camp. So there are cuts. That's because every year there late transfers, and late commit tryout guys. So there technically are cuts. But no matter who tries out or transfers  in, when a recruit has been assured a roster spot, that commitment will be honored. Essentially, late commits (so no roster spot assurance) or transfers have to compete against the rest of the roster for their spots.

Great first article as it doesn't get much more exciting than now in terms of anticipation.
Looking forward to future content.

Quiz question (Without looking it up): Of the 5 QB's on the UW-W roster, which two played their home games in the same city immediately before coming to Whitewater and what was the city?

Good day for former Warhawks in NFL. Meinerz makes 53 man roster w Broncos and Kumerow makes 53 man roster w Bills.
Congratulations to both.

So my read here is that Meylor is QB1.

Platteville has posted it's roster on their website. They have 50 Sr's and Jr's. It looks like they are continuing the Illinois pipeline with 49 players front south of the border.

Very excited to see this group of O-linemen get to work. I'm probably reading into this, but I'm guessing this might not be as big an O line as we are accustomed to seeing. I say that because we typically see references to the size, and in addition, it seemed even in 2019/2020 the roster was getting lighter/shorter. I understand there may be a return to size with the freshman class.

Actually that wasn't intentional. It's possible we won't be quite as mammoth up front as we've been in the past. But that's not why I didn't reference it.

I have not confirmed that with any of the coaches, but I would expect Max to take the first snap of the 2021 season, yes.
