On the eve of UWL starting its new football season, I thought it would be worth a mention to pay a tribute to two longtime radio announcers who will be calling Eagles games from that great big press box in the sky = Mike Kearns and his partner Scott Erickson. They both passed away since the last time the team took the field in 2019...

RIP gents, and thanks for the entertainment you provided us all on the radio while covering UWL sports over the years...

Two guys too young to go. Thanks for letting us know. Prayers for the repose of their souls.

Yes. Assuming that Ryan Wisniewski didn't flunk out of school or do anything that would poorly reflect on himself or the program would be a very good assumption!

I'm going with- he transferred to LaCrosse.

I said it would be a good assumption that he didn't "do anything that would poorly reflect on himself."

Well I see Wis on the sidelines, in shorts and his jersey. so I can confirm he didn't transfer.  ;)

Huntingdon gave a good fight to UW-Oshkosh before they wore us down at the end. Some advice for when you play UWO - don't kick it to #10. Those kick returns were killers for us. Good luck to the Titans going forward.

Great start to the year for UW-W. They dominated Carthage in the first half and went into the locker room with a 41-0 lead. Alex Peete had four touchdowns in the half. The defense was dominant. Fast and physical, attacking and tackling well.  The second half was sloppy offensively for the Haws as we turned the ball over three times and scored only 5 second half points. We gave up our only TD drive in the second half as well. The 46-7 win was a great start but there are still some things to work on.  Congratulations Warhawks! Now on to Salisbury!

Yeah, that was exciting to watch. The high flying Hawks!!! The ball was getting slung all over the place. I haven't seen them pass with that precision and persistence in quite some time. Giving how their offense is built, and their depth at WR and QB (along with how things have been trending the past few seasons), I wonder if the days of "pounding the rock" and shoving the ball down the opponent's throat are behind us? For years we would run, run, run...which would setup our passing game. Now signs point to pass, pass, pass with mixing in the running game.

Max, I thought looked fantastic today. Our WR's looked great and our best one didn't even play. You weren't lying on how deep we are. We have 3-4 VERY dangerous guys that can go up and get the ball.

Great day all around.

Next week at Salisbury will be a big test.. Nice win today Warhawks!!

'95 Blugold

Paced by a school record 364 yards on 17 carries by senior RB  Austin Belot, Blugolds cruise 45-14 over Luther. Belot sandwiched a punt return TD in the first quarter with an 80 and 84 yardvTD run on 3rd and 1 and the Blugolds never looked back.

What a great opening week for WIAC. I was surprised how dominate UWL looked against a good NAIA team. Its the warhawks and everyone else but man this league is loaded this year. Going to be a fun fall

A quick story that may or may not be relevant to this situation.  A number of years ago, we had a kid who suffered an injury that required a diagnostic test. The injury wasn't all that physically limiting, but the result of the test was very important to know the risk of further injury. He wasn't on the roster or two-deep because  it wouldn't have been prudent without the results of the test. Late in the second week, the test result came back and all was clear. I believe he played in game two. If I remember right, the opposing coach wasn't too happy. But it wasn't that we tried to conceal anything, we just didn't know he'd be available until after the two-deep had been submitted. Two deeps and rosters aren't set in stone. Truthfully, the other coach should have assumed he was playing and prepared accordingly. Fair warning.

Let's hope Wiz's test comes back clear before travel date.

I would think UWW will be better served with longer sustained drives from the Warhawk offense for this game in particular. That Salisbury option offense is pretty good at keeping the defense on the field for long stretches.
