One thought on UW Stout. I was underwhelmed by their team when I was at the game at the Perk. I know each week in the WIAC is pretty close to an "any given Saturday" reality, but I'll take the UWL I watched play UWO over UWS. I would not be surprised to see UWS go winless the rest of the season.

Lance and his Jayhawks are up 10-0 at the half against #3 Oklahoma

Well, you can count on UWRF for giving whitewater a scare. Hopefully UWW can learn from this and not lose focus at any point in the game....because it almost cost them. Glad the annual reality check game is behind us  ;)

Great game by UWRF today

Two awesome football games for top two WIAC teams UWW and UWL.
Loved the play making w UWW and UWRF. Falcon receivers making great plays as well as their defense.
UWW guys answering w non stop play making on O and D. Especially impressed with the UWW running backs- they all refused to lose.
Congratulations to all teams for a great day.

Kind of agree with you Emma. But would like to see TDs and not FG attempts when deep inside opponent territory. MM can have tunnel vision a little with RW sometimes, and try and force things. Make some plays, score some TDs and put it away. Offense couldn't do that late in the game.

I thought the biggest difference between Whitewater and River Falls was special teams play. Whitewater's special teams were excellent, ours not so good. Our no huddle offense befuddled Whitewater in the 1st half several times but not in the 2nd half

Their WR's excelled at creating separation by pushing off with two arms extended as they broke on those short out routes. Refs never called PI, so they just kept doing it. I think the TD that tied the game at 28 was the most obvious push off.

WW escapes. Their running game fantastic. Falcons 4 to's, well 5 if you count the bad squib kick that put ww on 15 to go up 3. Couple very good stands by Falcon D to give a chance at end.  Yes, special teams for ww made a difference. The facilities at UWRF amazing. Is it the best in the conference? Hanging with WW, should help their recruiting.

We've gone to squib kicks cuz we have no kickoff guy with a strong leg. Max Meylor did not look like the best qb since your best guy, the Chicago Bears tryout guy. In fact, he was outplayed by our qb today.

Today, I would agree. Max wasn't at his best. A lot of guys weren't today.

UWRF was up for the task

Agree with pretty much all of the last 10 posts. Also, really glad to get out of town with a win today. I think it is unfair to UW-RF to say UW-W didn't come to play today. Plus, I don't think that would be a true statement. However, I do think it will be a huge learning experience, especially for our younger guys (and there are a lot of them).  I think they learned something about the WIAC today. And that will pay off dividends in the next few weeks and in the future.

Speaking of young guys, two freshmen came up big today. Freshman DB Kyle Koelblinger had two interceptions and the decisive fumble recovery in kickoff coverage. Also freshman running back Tamir Thomas. That's a guy that's going to make Warhawk nation really happy sooner than later.

Also, had a chance to chat at length with Falcon OC Joe Matheson after the game. He's a really personable guy. i get the sense the Falcons have a vey good one in Coach Matheson. I hope the Falcons finish strong the rest of the year.

Congrats to both teams today. If I wasn't so emotionally invested in UW-W being successful on every play, I would be able to step back and say it was a fun football game played by two really good teams.  But as it is, I'll stick with being happy to get the heck out of town with a win.

If Joe Matheson is calling the plays, I'd call him a riverboat gambler. We went for it on fourth down twice on our own 35 today and were successful. That's been a pattern all season. I'm sitting up in the stands erupting at the call but now my friends and I all call anything beyond the 30 yard line in our own half of the field four down territory.

Bobo for whatever reason you have a hard time giving props to the other team. The fade route TD catch by Falcon receiver #83 I believe was perfectly executed. 83 made a beautiful catch on a well defended ball. Tip of the cap to him. The Falcons made many great plays that had nothing to do w UWW not executing well.

Do they ever need to run anything other than the QB keep on 4th down? That's all they seemed to need on 4th down today for some reason!
