Reading stories today saying Nebraska needs to look at Lance Leipold for head coach. Awesome!
Too soon to leave Kansas.   After the great win over WVU, KU is riding high. Great compliment to Lance, but I don't see him leaving any time soon.  But, anything is possible.

Yes, this will be very interesting. I know Lance was on Frank Solich's staff at Nebraska in 2003 when Coach Solich was fired after a 9-3 season.  That left a bad taste in his mouth for sure. I remember when Lance first came to Whitewater, he was glad to be in D-III where there was far more perspective.  Obviously, he regained his desire to go back to D-I. But I'm sure his eyes have been wide open to what can happen. Is he open to Nebraska after they treated a mentor and friend poorly? Not sure.

Money can also speak very loudly.  But he's getting paid very well at Kansas and he just might be building something special there. I'm guessing he wouldn't mind SCHEDULING Nebraska! But working there? Again, not sure.

Nice to see at least two guys with D3 ties in the hunt. The other I know of -- Campbell -- is a MUC grad.

The craziest part of speculation: Can't see it happening, but it has to add insult to injury for Scott Frost to have P.J. Fleck mentioned as possible successor.

Fleck is not on the list, outside of click bate tweets. Names consistently mentioned across national and nebraska media:
Mark Stoops @ UK, Chris Klieman @ KSU, Lance Leipold @ KU, Dave Doeren @ NC State, Troy Calhoun @ AF, Matt Campbell @ ISU, Mickey Joseph @NU - Interim HC, Gary Patterson @ UT - special asst, Jim Leonhard - Wisc DC.

Mark Stoops would be insane to leave Kentucky IMO. He's winning consistently, getting paid great, at a basketball school with zero expectations other than get us to a bowl game.

I think the two ideal candidates for Nebraska would be Matt Campbell or LL. Both develop talent and are proven winners. I don't know that either would want to leave their current school, but with the ground shifting they might want to leave their current conferences. Nebraska has lost luster, but the B1G is going to be printing money, and that goes a long way to paying assistants and NIL money.

Two guys with big (and purple) D-III ties.

Never thought PJ talk was real, hence "craziest," then ESPN and SI jump in.

yeah, but it's clickbate IMO. Thamel at ESPN had it as total clickbate in a tweet. Then the Star Tribune referenced that Thamel clickbate, because people in the Twin Cities will read it. Then SI (which is basically all clickbate at this point in their collapse) referenced the original clickbate and the Star Tribune's reference to the original clickbate. I don't think Peej is on the list for serious college FB journalists/insiders or the Nebraska AD.

The line between "craziest part of the speculation" and clickbait is thin indeed. I don't think we are that far apart, Haz.

Ice Bear says the ****ing debacle that has been Cornhusker football over the past...**** Ice doesn't even know how long, is unreal. They've had many coaches and some damn good players (at least to the Bear's non expert dark eyes). Ice hopes they can get it together because he says those are certainly some very dedicated and passionate fans. Ice would LOVE to see LL get the gig and bring them back to national prominence.

Guessing it is not going to be named for Mertz Mortorelli. A hard luck coach, but the guy was UWS sports.
