BP,
Your right I forgot about Oshkosh. They beat Platteville but lost to RF. Sometimes they go to records against winning teams. That could mean that Platteville's win against WW could mean something. I didn't see anything on the Isthmus Bowl website.

I think Platteville is the likely Isthmus Bowl team. 2 Scenarios seem most likely.

1-If they beat UWL and finished tied for second with UWL at 5-2, they will own the HTH and will get the bid

If they lose and end up in a 3 way tie with UWO and UWRF, they will have the next best win (over UWW). Many tiebreakers go to the record against the top of the conference down to break ties. That said, the Isthmus Bowl isn't like a conference that needs established tie breakers. They can essentially pick whomever they want and I would assume they would see a team that beat the WIAC AQ (and possibly the MIAC AQ) as the next best team.

But who knows.

Sudsy

The 3 way tie breaker is a different one according to what has been communicated to the teams.

First tie breaker is overall record.  UWP would be 5-5, UWO and UWRF would be 6-4.  Then head to head and UWRF would go.

Not sure I like that but I guess there has to be some way with all three 1-1 against each other.

Pat Coleman

For a postseason bowl game, that's probably fine.

If overall records are a factor how do you figure in Oshkosh lost to Northern Michigan and Platteville lost to Michigan Tech both D2 teams.

Sudsy

I would guess that Isthmus Bowl has their own criteria and is not following NCAA regional rankings criteria??

Pat Coleman

I would think it's up to the conference to determine who that rep will be, rather than leaving it in the bowl commission's hands.

I agree. I think whatever tie breakers are in place for the conference AQ could be reasonably applied to determine the Bowl bid.

Pat Coleman

Yes. Or the conference could choose to use something else, as long as it's open and transparent about it.

Makes sense to me. Bethel beat SJU who beat UWW who beat UWL.

Yes UWP beat both UWW and Bethel, but UWP just has too many non-regional ranked losses to put them further up the list.

Something can be said about playing a tough schedule, boost your SOS, get you ready for the playoffs, etc, etc. But look at Linfield....easy schedule, unblemished record gives them the #1 spot and at least 2-3 home games. Mean while, UWW will be lucky for a single home game by choosing killer non-conference games. Worth it? Very debatable.

Anybody, anywhere, anytime 02. Pound the rock football and great defense travels well. I believe we will see an extreme premium on protecting the football and physicality and see if anyone can beat us when we don't beat ourselves.

We won't have the highest of seeds. But I don't believe the high seed who draws us will be thrilled. I predict many are surprised how far we go.

Bluster.
Long flight to Portland.
And then you get surprised by those defensive\
offensive line size and speed.

Take a look at the SOS. FWIW, the only team with a higher SOS than St John's is UWW of all the teams listed in the Regional Rankings.
