I'd think HC experience, or an OC with a sterling record like a Heckendorf from SJU. Heckendorf is from Mosinee, WI, played at NDSU I believe.

Quit trying to poach our OC!!!

Technically I'm not trying to poach him... just encouraging someone else to poach him  ;D

D3Fan- nice work on the image, very funny. There are MT guys coaching everywhere.

As for Zebrowski- I'd love to have his offensive mind at the helm of UWW, but I'd be blown away if he stepped down from his role as QB coach with Kansas- given what they are building there. I think he's also the passing game coordinator, but I might be wrong.

Although I understand looking in the D3 world for the next head coach, I feel Lance's experience at the D1 level brought a unique and difference making approach that led to UWW going from contender to champion. With Lance, it's not just x's and o's and getting the most of the player's talent, he is constantly focused on improving the experience of the entire football/campus environment. He brought that to UWW and I believe it was a difference maker. I think he filters his decisions on hiring staff through the lens of his big picture approach.

When Lance left, it seems much of that left with him. Hiring the OC from UW Oshkosh, then the OC from Rhodes and then the OC from Stout, has had the result to turning the UWW offense into what the opponents run, and not what UWW won national titles with.

I fully agree with Hazzben, the Offense has been the difference between the LL years and the Bullis years. Unfortunately, Bullis was a hands-off HC when it came to the offense.

Jim Zebrowski makes $250,000 (base) at Kansas.  Nobody takes a 60% pay cut on purpose in this business.

Bullis was an associate head coach during at least a portion of Liepold's tenure.  He was also Defensive Coordinator so the idea that he wasn't prepared to be a head coach is nonsense.  No one from Mount Union was a finalist for the HC job.  Finalists included Bullis, Rob Erickson, Dave Traynor, Erik Raeburn and Dean Paul.  I know for certain that Liepold offered Bullis the opportunity to go to Buffalo with him and Bullis declined.  His retirement has nothing to do with this season and/or any perceived decline in the WARHAWKS football program.  Some of us have been waiting for the announcement.

The football program has a pastor. They have for years.  He is present with the team home and away on game day.

Since meeting him and watching him turn Jeff Donovan into one of our best I've thought Jim Zembrowski was a really good coach.  I was disappointed when he left.  However after the experiences he's had since then I kind of doubt he'd come back to DIII.   I have a hunch who'll be the next coach but we'll wait and see.  I'm anxious to see who would apply.

I think he meant there were no candidates considered for the job who were currently at Mount Union at that time.

Yes, some had ties to Mount but were at other schools in 2015.

My bad.  That was what I was thinking.  That and their connection to UMU was pretty old by the time we interviewed them. I stand corrected

Bullis has an great record at UWW, a smidge better than Fasching at SJU over almost the same period.  I feel like we've seen lightning strike twice when St John's replaced Gagliardi with Fasching and I reckon you did the same with Bullis.  It will be something to see lightning strike three times in Whitewater.

Berezowitz was fairly successful prior to Leipold--not the same caliber, but no slouch.

I think Whitewater should go after Hamline's HC.

I recall the same, may have been UWL or UWRF? I also recall some felt he wasn't serious, rather he used the process as experience for other interviews.

Yes, La Crosse.

Raeburn is someone you might consider if he is interested.  He is currently in his 3rd season as HC at Gannon in Erie, PA.  During his time there, he has taken them from 1-3 in the Covid year, to 5-6, and this year to 8-3.  They were a woeful program for years in a tough PSAC that includes the PA state universities.  I knew him at Wabash; he is a terrific coach and a great guy.

The previous UWW AD past on him back in 2015. Wonder if he'll throw his hat in the ring again for the UWW job.
