All good Bleed :)

lol It's just fine GB. And those are great questions, to be honest. I was just messing with Emma for guiding me as to what to focus on.

GBMAN

So then our majesty, Emma, is the grand poo-bah of this board? ;D ;D

No, I was just picking on the way he phrased trying to redirect the conversation to his main point. But, I have to ask, is grand poo-bah a Flinstone reference? If it was, that would get a rare +k from me! Honor system, GBMAN!

A quick tour of Wikipedia shows multiple definitions of the title, I personally like "Lord High Everything Else".

As for next year, I'm thinking more pass rush from D line. The linebackers are really good.

Offensively, an OC that doesn't out-coach himself.

Regarding the OC, I believe we've already got that. I know you aren't happy with the Wartburg game plan. But there is more than one way to skin a cat. We have an offense that is able to be productive either on the ground or in the air. When facing the number one rushing defense in the country and a team that is beatable on the back end with our athletes, it's not like our run/pass distribution was outlandish. Plus it worked!

You would admit NCC is a decent offensive team, correct?

Vs Wartburg:

First Downs:       NCC 16      UWW 17
Total yards:        NCC  392   UWW 460
Yards per play.    NCC  5.4.   UWW 7.1

If you want to point to turnovers as a cause for our loss. Fair.
If you want to point to lack of execution at times defensively. Fair.

But to point to our OC given the numbers above, it's downright puzzling.

Yes, as an isolated number, we'd probably all love to see Tamir have more than 16 touches. But it's not like he had 8 and it's not like what we did didn't work. Sometimes you might want to just tip your hat to the other team instead of consistently pointing fingers at coaches after we lose a tough game.

You fall for the same silly stat line the OC does. I don't know if it's due to your closeness to the team or you just forget. Complementary football is the #1 key to UWW's championship success. It's not some magical ratio- it's an approach to the game that reduces the opponents chance of success.

This wasn't just one game- it's this OC's failure in both playoff losses- where he got lured into the trap of passing because he "thought it was working"- how'd that turn out vs. Aurora and Wartburg.
And your lame line about me not giving credit to the opponent is beneath you.

OC #3 that just doesn't get it yet.

I don't know- I was a big fan of Kotelnicki and Zebrowski.
I don't think I'm that pig-headed.

BW- are you comfortable with the fact that in UWW's last two playoff losses, UWW's best running back had less than half the opponent's best running back's carries?
Are you comfortable that Thomas averaged 6 yards per carry but only ran it 12 times? And UWW had three turnovers on passing plays? Is that in the best interest of the players?

1. You were actually pretty critical of Kotelnicki in his early years. Don't really remember about Zebrowski. Maybe you were supportive of him.
2. I'm not saying you are pig-headed. I'm just saying you tend to quickly point the fingers to coaches after a loss.
3. Football is a team game and I'm comfortable with gaining 7.1 yards per play against a defense that held NCC to 5.4 yards per play just a week later.
4. No one likes turnovers.  But I'm comfortable with an OC who calls plays with a mentality of trying to win and not playing "not to lose". The turnovers weren't inevitable. Do you really want an OC who is afraid to attack an opponent's weakness because he is afraid of turnovers?

This whole, "is that in the best interest of the players" thing is a bit much, Emma. Our staff works their tails off every day for these players. And the players know it. I promise it hasn't even occurred to any of the players, including Tamir, to blame the coaches for this loss. Wartburg is an excellent team and we didn't play our best. It's unfortunate, but it is what it is. We learn from it and we go from here. We have a ton of experience and talent coming back next year. This story isn't done being written yet.

Despite the difference in carries, despite the three turnovers on passing plays, despite all of that and everything else we were in a position to win if we'd been able to make one more stop defensively.

Maybe in perception. I'll admit that I've never heard of SUNY Cortland before the playoffs. Not a big upset in reality, though. NCC played well but Cortland was the better team tonight...by the spread of a failed extra point.

Cortland's QB is incredible.

02 Warhawk

NCC should have won by multiple TDs. Betting line would have been at LEAST -14 for NCC given their body of work. They had no business losing this game.

That being said, congrats to Cortland. So happy for them taking down a giant. What a game.
