What do UWW fans think of the POSSIBILITY Ronny (?) Ponick, UWW captain in 2019? (there were 4 captains) and winner of the Bass award (for inspiration), joining the Falcons next season? Whether he is eligible is the question. Does he have covid year eligibility? He has been out of the football training regimen for a year. He is a graduate student now at UWRF. I was told he was taking classes online now and that he was lifting independently.I met him today at a restaurant and he talked like a guy who is looking forward to playing next season for the Falcons. His comment to me about playing for the Falcons next year: "We're going to hurt some people next year." The Falcons need somebody to take the running pressure off Blaha.

I'm guessing Ronnie is going to do some coaching. His field is strength and conditioning.  He played four years at UW-W and used up his eligibility before the 20-21 covid year. Nonetheless, Ronnie is a great guy and would be a great addition to the program in any capacity.

He sounded like he thought he would be eligible to play. Don't know where that comes from.

UW-W announcing our schedule tonight. Anyone within an hour or two of Whitewater may want to make the trip to 841 Brewhouse in Whitewater to begin to get familiar with the 2024 Warhawks!
*A look at 2024 recruiting class (definitely a good one!)
*The 2024 schedule will be released (I'm expecting two of the three non-con opponents to be ranked in the top 20 in the D3football.com preseason poll with a D-II school thrown into the mix. And no, it's not Northern Michigan!)
*Meet and greet with the coaching staff.
*Social begins at 6:00
*"Program" begins at 7:00

Time to start getting fired up for Warhawk football!

uwwcontra2007

Man, wish I didn't have trivia tonight so I could be there!

If I had to speculate, based on the schedules that have already been released, I'm guessing they'll want to stay GLIAC, and that likely means a game against the Panthers of Davenport University.  They started their football program in the NAIA in 2016 (give or take a year, can't remember what year exactly), and after a year or two playing in the Mid-States Football Association, they moved up to Division 2 and the GLIAC.  They are a solid #3 in said conference, behind Ferris and Grand Valley of course.  One of these years, they're going to break through and make a playoff.

Excited to see what the Hawks have to offer this season!

Sorry, I sent you down a bunny trail. I thought sure the team I was thinking of was D-II. They are actually  NAIA. Sorry about that Contra!

uwwcontra2007

Not even a rabbit hole at all!  I have been following pretty much all of college football since 2016 when I started trying to make a new ratings system (out of boredom), so I'm familiar with the school and how they've done over the past couple of years.  Which NAIA school did we match up with?

bleedpurple

Actually, I thought I was wrong once, but I was wrong...lol

We are playing Roosevelt University down in Arlington Heights, IL.

Next season will be their first as an NCAA D-II school.  They currently are NAIA.

Former wide receiver Tyler Holte is a grad assistant wide receivers coach for the Lakers.

02 Warhawk

Looks like Roosevelt played NCC last season and lost 41-7. They seemed to be a decent enough NAIA team, but this should be a road kill for the Hawks.

uwwcontra2007

Yeah, I haven't been too terribly impressed with Roosevelt (formerly Robert Morris).  From what I could tell, they were middle of the pack in the MSFA Midwest Division.  Not terrible, but not incredibly great.  Not sure what D2 or the GLIAC will do to them, but I imagine a trip for them to Whitewater or for us to Chicago would end in a dub for the dubs.

So, is Whitewater's schedule out? If it is, I can't seem to find it.
What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

It's not out yet. But we do know that we're playing John Carroll and Mary Hardin Baylor at home and Roosevelt on the road the first three weeks.
