The WIAC is always wild, but this year has been intense to watch--I would be a wreck!  Entertaining and stressful!

A tradition unrivaled...
MIAC Champions: '32, '35, '36, '38, '53, '62, '63, '65, '71, '74, '75, '76, '77, '79, '82, '85, '89, '91, '93, '94, '95, '96, '98, '99, '01, '02, '03, '05, '06, '08, '09, '14, '18, '19, '21, '22, '24
National Champions: '63, '65, '76, '03

The Third Division

5 teams are 2-1 and one of them is not La Crosse who is 1-2.

Can anyone put together Vegas odds for the WIAC champion this year? I feel like I might still take UWW to back door their way to the auto bid.

That first half Stout looked terrific and UWRF looked like a team w a backup QB. What a change after half, very similar to UWO. Both UWRF and UWO came out for the second half like new sports cars.
Credit to Stout for hanging in there until OT.

UWW has UWP, UWRF then UWL. What a great opportunity to win the conference championship.

Here is food for thought: How about 5 WIAC teams finishing 5 and 2 in conference play ? This same result just
happened in a La Crosse area 8 team high school conference, the Mississippi Valley.

How many WIAC teams will make the new expanded playoffs? Is there a route to still get at least 3 in do we think? If so, what three?

I think:
UWO
UWW
UWP

I'm hesitant on UWW, even with the drubbing of UWSP this past Friday.  They still have an absolute gauntlet to get through.  At Platteville, HC vs. River Falls, and at La Crosse.  The parity in the conference this year is incredible.  The key, however, is what will the voters think, and what will the new metrics say about a tough conference beating up on itself.  I think the path to getting 3 in is most definitely there.  The crucial thing to note is what three teams could get in will change each and every week.  I would also say that there might be a very remote outside chance we get four, but that would require a little chaos across the division.

The new NPI formula eliminates any subjectivity in the selection of the field. https://d3datacast.com/npi/football/

You get a number and if that number is a top 12 (for pool C) you are in, if not, you are out. The criteria for the computer are Win%/SOS—1 number weighted 40% win% and 60% SOS (basketball is 25/75), Home win/away win (away is worth more), Quality win bonus (QWB), and minimum wins (5). You get a quality win bonus if you beat a team with an NPI of 54 or higher. And the minimum wins number means your NPI is calculated off your 5 best wins (all other wins are dropped from the calculation). Very different.

Practically you will see on the link above that it currently reads pretty much according to win %, with very few 2 loss teams ahead of 1 loss teams. You should also note that because of the 5 win criteria, this ranking is dynamic and as teams get to 6,7,8 wins their NPI can change dramatically based on who those wins are against making the last few weeks of the season pretty interesting.

For example, right now a 2 loss UWW and a 2 loss Wheaton are on the outside looking in. In fact they are ranked as the #29 and #30 Pool C teams with only 12 being selected.

4 and 1 from UWO 15 and a trick play? with 2:00 min. in game. I'm pretty sure coach wants that one back. Good game though to watch.

Goofy game from beginning to end.
Turnovers killed UWO first half. Lovelace fumbled going into endzone. Barely touched. Touchback. Next drive a fumble by backup RB that resulted in UWP touchdown. Iladvised interception throw from Warren deep into UWP territory to no UWO wr in site. Looked like bad wr route.
Felt like UWO should have been up 17-0 at halftime. Instead down 10-3. Guessing they outperformed on total yds. Felt and looked like it.
Second half started with a nice drive, but freshman QB Cole Warren gets hurt. It did result in TD though
2 big td plays from WRs lead to a 14 point lead. UWP cuts the lead to 7.
Then came the most amazing thing I've ever seen in football. With UWO up 7 and 4 min left in the game, UWO had to punt on their own 30. UWOs punter shanked it for -8 net yards. Basically kicked it straight right. Came home and re-watched the 4th qtr. Turns out the punter blocked his own punt. YEP. As he dropped the ball to kick it, it looked like his hand came over the top of the ball. Long arms i guess. Funniest thing ever.
UWP had a great chance to tie it, but UWOs defense came up big. Especially on that very questionable 4th and 2 play by UWP. I don't know what that was. I don't even think their very good rb was in the game.
Anywho.
It was nice to see London Little getting more involved in the offense. This kid is special on his feet. I believe he took 2nd at the National Championship outdoor meet in the 100M dash. Team also took 2nd.
Trae Tetzlaff sets the all-time reception record (for  UWO) in this game with I believe 181. Should be able to get to 200. Which is pretty cool I guess.
It's going to be fun watching Cole Warren grow these next 3 1/2 yrs. Feels like he's got "it." Kinda reminds me of the path of what Nate Wara, Brett Kasper and Kobe Berghammer went through. Last two of those 3 guys started a few games into their freshman year and didn't look back. I believe Nate is on the staff. TE's coach? Nate led Oshkosh North HS to a state title. Then went to UWO and led them to the playoffs for the first time in what seemed FOREVER. Probably turned the program around into being competitive just about every year.
UWO has got some little things to clean up. But every week they seem to get a little bit better and better as a full team. Hopefully they can keep up this good mojo.
Hopefully Cole comes out of this game ok

Stumbled upon a youtube channel by Richie Murphy at Stout. Giving some love to D3 and vlogging his experience. He's got over 40k subscriber so he's got a decent little side-hustle going!

Moving onto next season, the rest of the way is a formality now. Curious if this is the new hawks, or is this just a down year?

We've been so good for so long, always wondered when the year would come when they came back down to earth? Is this it?

Until UWW figures it out on offense, I can't see how this isn't the UWW of today and the future. This has been years in the making.

The D gave up 17 to a potent offense (3 points were after a UWW interception deep in their own territory). The bomb is an example of what happens when you give a passing team too many opportunities. That game was lost at 1st and goal from the 4. It's hard to imagine that meltdown was anything other than coaching.
