Should be a great game and an awesome tailgate at the Perk. Goo Crew is going with Italian Beef, Sausage, and Chili and maybe a few Bloody Marys to fight the cold...The Oline must/will continue to open gaping holes for #32 or whoever. POUND THE ROCK and FLUSH THE JOHNS.......

Having been at last year's game and having followed the Johnnies closely this year and UWW from afar, I'm not holding out much hope for a Johnnie win this weekend.  UWW has a hell of a team this year, especially with Beaver back, and I even publicly stated that I had lost faith in SJU this year and understood that this just wasn't their season.  Who knows, maybe the Johnnies can keep it close and sneak out a win.  I'm sure I'll spend the rest of the week figuring out a way that they can keep it close.  Hell, I even volunteered to drive out there on Saturday while the rest of the travelling party slept so I could try to figure out some way we might win the game.

Here's to a good game.  It should be a fun week.

GO JOHNNIES!!!

I loved this paragraph, you know the, "try and make 'em overlook us," strategy.  St. Norbert's College's Coach Purtell already tried that one and it didn't work too well for them.   ;)  The Johnnies are a formidible opponent every year and will not be overlooked by the coaches and the players or any WIAC poster if they are smart. No one is more dangerous than a team with revenge on their minds!!  UW-L showed us that.  Congrats to the Eagles on an outstanding year.  They are a terriffic football team and gave the Hawks all they could handle.  I believe that a tough game like that with the Hawks making some mistakes and having to keep their poise and come from behind will benefit them.  Looking forward as well to a great week, tailgate and game.  The Johnny Nation was a very classy bunch last year and all are welcome to the Perk.  You travel amazingly well!  Just hope we can make your journey home a long one again this year.   ;D

I love this paragraph too however your assertion that Coach Purtell played possum would make sense if he actually had a chance to win. UWW could have triple monkey stomped the Knights in going away fashion.

To quote GHC;  Phone it in!  :D

Couple things..lots of precipitation predicted for Whitewater this week..will the Perk field be covered?  Stanley played some d-back against Linfield last year.  I'm thinking we will see him on D against the Johnnies...

Sorry if this is a redundant request:

I am a CCIW guy and want to drive up for the game at UWW to see what I hope is a great contest. a couple of questions:

1-whats the best way to drive from chicago?
2-are tickets going to be a problem?
3-any tailgating going to happen that welcomes neutral parties?

if someone can send me a pm I would be grateful.

thanks

1.  I suggest a car.   :-*

2.  Whitewater has a huge (for DIII) and very nice stadium.  No problem
getting a seat.

3.  What Duff said.

Not sure I need "open arms". I have a wife for that. But a drink and a burger would be great.  ;D

thanks guys.

I hope for a good game on Saturday.  I think the Johnnies will have their hands full and for them to have a chance they will have to be error free and in turn get some points off turnovers.  If that doesn't happen -  28 -7  Whitewater.   Go Johnnies!

Johnnie Red

usee, you would be more than welcome at the Stiftungsfestivities tailgate party. Bring a culinary delight to share if you like. We should be rolling in the Whitewater parking lot just outside the entrance to the stadium Saturday morning by 8:30 a.m.

The easiest way to get to WW from Chicago is via Interstate 90 to Janesville.  Take the Hiway 26N exit and take 26 to Milton.  At the stop n go light with the intersection of Hiway 59 turn right and that will take you right into WW.
Stay on it to Main Street (stop n go light).  Go straight across the intersection onto Franklin St till you get to the T intersection with Starin Rd.  Turn left onto Starin Rd and follow it until you see
Williams Center (large gymnasium & field house).  The stadium is located North (behind) Williams
Center.  You can't miss it.

There will be no problem getting a ticket at the gate so don't worry about that.  All tickets are general admission so you can sit where ever you wish.

I'm not sure about this weekend but the two previous weekends there has been a free tailgate sponsored by DLK Enterprises in the family pavalion which is located just off the stadium parking lot.   Brats, hot dogs, potato salad, chips, cookies, soda, water, beer, that sort of stuff has been available.

Agreed, but play possum, he did!  ;D

Purtill pre-game:
"I think we can play with a lot of teams in the national playoffs, but this is a big, big mountain."
"We're going to need to borrow a few extra prayers from our priest," added Purtill. "We're going to do our best to try and hang with them."

Purtill post-game:

"That's probably as good a team that we played in the playoffs," said St. Norbert coach Jim Purtill. "They played pretty well today; I was trying to do everything I could to make them look past us. That's a really good football team. I'll be very surprised if they're not in the title game again. Unless something freaky happens, I'm saying they're in the national title game."

usee - If you have a computer (and I have a hunch you do) and want a map and directions, google or yahoo mapquest. It might be even better than the fine directions already given, and you would have a map to refer to.

I saw a statement on one of the Front Page blogs hoping for an SJU win in order that if they meet UMHB it would be in Belton, rather than a game in Whitewater. It was my understanding that the game would be held at the home of the team from the higher seeded "Region" Am I wrong?....... Am I wrong?

To which the Dude answers, "No you're not wrong Walter. You're just an a$$hole.

Wrong you are-highest seed-if teams with same seeding-then at higher bracket or region.
