2 UW-Stout players arrested in drug bust
Menomonie - Two University of Wisconsin-Stout football players were among four men arrested at two homes in which police recovered cocaine, marijuana and several thousand dollars in cash, authorities said today.

One of the football players arrested, senior linebacker Luke Steffen, 22, of Greenwood, told investigators that steroids also were bought, sold and used at his home, Police Chief Dennis Beety said.

Police also arrested junior reserve linebacker Nicholas OrRico, 21, of Lodi.

Ouch.  This is the kind of thing we think only happens in D-I.  Not good news for Stout and not good for the league in general.

Devil Badger Gopher

I feel ashamed to be considered an alumnus of Stout on a day like today.  The news will be a very large blow to the team.  It is very unfortunate that these young men made these decisions in their lives.  I know they are only suspected and remain innocent until proven guilty, but this is just another black eye on an organization that has had a few incidents as of late.

I hope the coaches can clean up their team's act in preparing for next season.

Obviously they didn't do enough steroids with the kind of record they posted this year.

Kira & Jaxon's Dad

When I first saw the headline I assumed it was steroids, not recreational drugs...

Dont know if it was posted here already but former WW player and coach Jeff Jagodzinski was just hired as the head coach at Boston College.  He is currently the offensive cooridnator of the Packers.

Dear Captain: That was a cheap shot! Can you assure me with 100 percent certainty that 100 percent of your teammates did not use steroids or recreational drugs? I already know the answer. The Coach needs to tell all using players to come clean or hit the road. Those that admit using should be given a few weeks , or months, to get clean(meaning no more usage and a clean urine) and get the counseling and testing to stay clean. Every player has to decide do you want to be a FB player or a doper! We should pray for the team and coach and not cheap shot. I dealt with hundreds of drug abusers in my former career. it is a true inner demon and we all need to be supportive.  Many of us have our own deamons that, while may not be illegal, can also be self destructive. God Bless All of you!

Mr. Ypsi

UWP, nice post, BUT...

It appears that they are accused of DEALING, not use.  Dealing is not an 'inner demon', unless you count greed as an inner demon.

UWPSUPERFAN77

You make a good point. The good dealers do not use but only dope up everyone else. However,, most of them get sucked in using most of their product. The story also says steroids, that is where I make my assumption other players may be using. I hope they are not. God Bless!

By extending your logic we can assume your beloved Warhawks must have done a ton of steroids this year.

Very classless.  No need to pile on to a program that's just hit rock bottom today.  I hope Whitewater never has an off the field issue.
