As an outsider to UWW ,I think all 4 of your FB candidates look terrific. I hope whoever is the new coach, if it is not Coach Z, will retain both of your coordinators. As you know, I am not a big UWW fan. However, I do recognize excellence ,and they are good. The only downside to coach Z, who deserves the job, is his age. He is even older than me. He might only last 4 or 5 years under the pressure of being the man.  Blessings and Merry Christmas!

You obviously don't know coach Z very well. I'm pretty sure that coach Z will take the gagliardi route and coach until the day that he dies. He puts a TON of time in already so I don't think the time commitment that comes with being "the man" will be any problem.

The obvious keys are the passing game and the D line.  With 4/5 of the line and Beaver back, they will be able to run the ball.  Slupski got some reps at TE, and he has good size.  Gifford played a lot at WR in the second half of the season, so he's probably a lock and Jordan Wells will surely get every chance to bring his explosiveness to the offense.  And will Donovan be under center, or Ryczkowski.  If Donovan is ready, having a guy for likely 3 years would be huge.

The D Line has to replace 3 guys.  That's a bigger key than the offense, in my mind.  I would expect they will recruit heavily there.  The secondary is back all the way through the nickel, and 2 of 3 LBs.  So if they can scrape together a serviceable run defense, they'll be fine.

I cannot wait till you see who exactly we have waiting in the wings on defense. Our defensive line returns 6 solid players from last year as well as some very very VERY athletic and talented young guys. If that and our passing game is all we have to worry about (even with Rich, Wells, Giff, Donovan and possibly even Mrk coming back) then I feel very good about how we'll finish next year.

Isn't Douglas gone too for UWW???
Additionally, I thought Benish got some serious playing time at DE?
Yes, Lance Douglas is gone. And Brandon Benish did start early on in the season at DE opposite Ogrizovich.
Also, from what I've heard, from a player, Neil Mrkvicka is coming back next season. Besides that, I think we still have a talented group on Offense, Beaver and Pittz, Hunt got serious PT this year 4/5 of our line is back and at WR it looks like Gifford starting opposite Mrk with Mitch Moore coming back and Jordan Wells will also get a lot of PT in there.

Does anyone have any information about the possibility of UW-Stout Coach Strop losing his job over this past incidient and others in the past?  It seems that ever since he has arrived there, the football program has gone down.  As stated before the amount of taunting and personal fouls called against the Blue Devils the past couple years proves what kind of players he recruits.  I am very good friends with a parent of one of the players on the UW-Stout football team and was informed that all 20 or so seniors for the 2007 team had a private meeting about talking to somebody higher up because they do not enjoy playing football for him.  It is very easy to blame the players for this past seasons 3-7 record, however in the grand sceme of the things it appears that the problems are at the top.  Lets not forget that these two football players accused the past week have not been convicted of anything, and until they are we should not pass judgement on them.  Nobody is perfect, and everyone makes mistakes.  TO prove this, go to the Wisconsin circuit court access page and look up some coaches, and players records and i think you will be surprised with what you find.  There are a lot of hipicrits(sp) in Menomonie, and i think you will see similar problems at other WIAC schools.

Congrats to Whitewater on another fantastic year.  I was at the game when they played Lacrosse the first time, what a powerful, well coached squad!!
