Mr. Downtown

Picks this week:

Stevens Point @ Oshkosh:
This is where we get a chance to see if Point is as good as we thought they were at the beginning of the season, or if Oshkosh is as good as their record is right now. Favorable scheduling warhawkguy? Maybe...but its not very favorable to end the season against the big 4.

Breaking this game down, I noticed one big thing about Point. Defense..or lack of a run defense. Platteville has a bad defense against the run, and Point is not much better. So expect Oshkosh run down the field again like last week (maybe Moriarty gets another 200 yards ???).

Another thing, Point is -5 so far this year in turnover margin. The past couple of games, Oshkosh has found a way to get the big turnover. Will that carry on? I dunno know..but what the stats say, they will certainly get their chance.

Stevens Point right now is a lot like the Seattle Seahawks in the NFL. You just wonder if this team will ever right the ship. They do well against the lower-tier teams (River Falls), but have just been slapped around against top competition.

Again, the past couple of weeks..i also have been saying expect the unexpected...

My crazy prediction
Homecoming
Oshkosh 42
Stevens Point 10

the rest of my picks

Stout over River Falls
Whitewater over Platteville (Beaver might get 300 yards)

and my upset special of the week

Eau Claire over La Crosse.

Stay dry everyone...it seems to be a wet weekend for the entire state.

La Crosse  @  Eau Claire   LAX responds and wins
River Falls  @  Stout          Stout wins at Home
Stevens Point  @  Oshkosh        Point beats up the titans

Platteville  @  Whitewater
We all remember last years loss and total feeling of dissapointment.  They think they are something they are not, and that is a conteneder.  Take back the bowl trophy and make sure when u leave the perk that the pios leave and are embarassed!!

Warhawks!!!!! 7-0 here we come

And hey PlattFan,

Keep thinking that last year wasnt a fluke.  you guys are on the outside looking in, and have been for a while.  So keep passing the ball and struggling to beat non-conference teams!!!

Plattfan

1 for 27 it was a fluke?  Platteville scored its first and only touchdown of that game with 44 seconds left to go in the 1st quarter.  So Whitewater had over 3 quarters to over come a 7-0 defecit and they couldn't do it final score 7-6.  How is that a fluke?  And you have something against passing the ball?  Plattevilles crowning acheivement will be beating you this season.  Oh and how many Div 1AA teams has Whitewater faced this year?  Putting a Div 1AA school has just another non conference team is quite ludicrous.

I was at the Whitewater / P-ville game in 2004.  That was the worst game I've seen Whitewater play (I wasn't at Stevens Point 2 years ago).  Platteville looked good at times, but I can't say they beat Whitewater, Whitewater lost the game.

Brian Carroll, I agree that Oshkosh has been having a good year.  I thought they would have been better last year, but they are in the hunt for the conference title.  Will be interesting to see how they hold up through the end of the schedule.  I'm pretty confident I'll pick-up a game on you this weekend.

GO WARHAWKS!

Platt, I hate to join in on the bashing since i remember how hard it was to gain support as a pioneer, but I think you're getting your hopes up about saturday. Watts must have forgotten whatever it was he brought to the improved 2004 defense because it sure isn't here in 2005. That or the toughness just isn't there. Chances are you guys will make a first team all-american out of Justin Beaver this Saturday. Best of luck though.

Plattfan,
If Drake is a true 1AA team, well then I must be smoking something. Because Drake is what they call a NON SCHOLARSHIP school.
So keep feeding yourself that garbage about playing a 1AA team. Because Drake is just a glorified D3 school. Because if they were 1AA they would give partial scholarships, and make the playoffs the pioneer conference which is there conference doesn't send anyone to the playoffs.
Oh yeah by the way Whitewater has played Mount Union within the past four years twice, I would rather play a team at the true D3 level then a school where everyone thinks they are D1 when they reallya ren't ebcause they aren't on schoplarship.
GO WARHAWKS PUMMEL PLATTEVILLE AND EMENDORKER.
2005 WIAC CHAMPS UW WHITEWATER

Plattfan

Geez warhawkalum you guys got killed both times by Mount Union.  44-21 and 40-17.  And thats something your bragging about?  So I guess by your own logic Whitewater can't even hang with a "true" D3 team.  Has for Drake there listed on ESPN, CBS Sportsline, and CNNSI among others as a div1AA school.   So who am I going to believe them or you hmmmmmmmmmmmm really tough decision isn't it?  So your saying you would rather get creamed by a "true" D3 team then have two victories over a DIV1AA team?  Yeah that makes a lot of sense.  This will be the second year in a row where Platteville will shock the division and beat the number 6 team in the nation.  Whitewater wont know what hit them.

warhawkfan

these plateville fans have no clue about football.  i hope your at the game to see the embarasing show that plateville puts on.  You better hope the game is over by the 1st quarter and they pull beaver or else he's going to have 400 yards.  This plateville team or any plateville team will never beat whitewater! whitewater can only beat themselves.  you have beat whitewater twice in the past 12 years and both have only been by 1 point each game.  It's going to take miracle after miracle to beat whitewater.  Bottom line this whitewater team has to much heart to lose and will take the WIAC with a 10-0 record into the playoffs!  GET A CLUE PLATEVILLE FANS, GET A CLUE!

I hate to "break ranks" here, but as a WW fan, I have to say I was very impressed by UWP last year. Their defense played a heck of a good game, and they deserved the win. I was puzzeled they didn't do better the rest of the year.

Every year both teams play hard and the Cryst(sp) award at the end is a really nice thing. Good luck to both teams, and I hope we don't have any broken legs or other injuries this year.
