OR it could be an assistant coach that has seen "booster" money and funds from the football program disapear, or could know how incredibly unhappy a lot of players are.  Or it could even be a past player who was promised money to coach and then never received it..  It could even be someone who was at the touchdown club meeting the week following the Oshkosh game when "the reverse call at the end of the game" was blamed on the qb making an audible.... (which NEVER happened)  shall i keep going??

For a credible newspaper to write a story citing an anonymous source it takes something more than just someone with a gripe.

An editor ok'ing a story with information from an anonymous source would not do so from the group you listed above.

Therefore my conclusion that it came from the administration of the University. Who else could speak to the things that were quoted but the people in charge?

By the way, I have attended every football booster club luncheon without fail for years. I remember the one you speak of J44 concerning the reverse.

I have never heard Coach Strop or any other coach put the blame on the QB or an audible as you suggest.

Hey, you think he should have been fired and I don't. That's ok with me that we disagree.

But why a guy that put in 9 years in this program has to have his name pulled through the mud again for the administration to try to save face is beyond me.

Lets not forget that a former high-ranking LT editor is now part of the UW-Stout administration......that man is the obvious choice to be the leak.

To Finsleft and Rico: Thank you for you uplifting encouragement. God Bless both of you. PS I did give you negative karma for your contribution to this site! As to Stout: The Drug case may be an example of a symptom rather than a problem in and of itself! God Bless all of You!

At first I didn't know what to think about the issue of Stropp being forced out because of the two kids who got caught with drugs. Now that someone actually came out and said that he would have been either fired or he could resign I believe he was forced out because of it. I've never heard of any WIAC school forcing someone out solely because of a couple average seasons and then a below average one. Look at Emendorfer he still has a job right? In fact in the last eight years he had ONE winning season (6-4), two average seasons and the rest losing seasons, none of which includes a winning conference record. Oshkosh and River Falls have had their fair share of losing too but the coaches don't get fired after a short period of time. To me it looks like there's something looming in the background and its more than a few players and fans being pissed at the coaches, that happens at every losing school.

So, is anyone getting nonconference games?  I don't think La Crosse is having much luck.

Dear 96: I think coach's in our conference get some slack as to wins and losses due to the toughness of our conference. you can go 3-7 and still be a good team, that could win many conferences. Also, many coach's are given credit for the Teams academic success, If you workhard ,keep improving, and get the team thru school you generally keep your Job! God Bless!

I admit I don't follow Stout, or other WIAC teams for that matter, closely, beyond checking the scores and following the standings. Last fall was a little different for me since I did have the good fortune to meet and spend some time with Todd Strop early in the season. He left me impressed as a stand-up kinda guy, which led me to pull for him last season and agonize after several seemingly solid good games, but unfortunate close losses. Then the other crap outside of his control flies in his face. WOW! So, without commenting on any of the internal BS that may have been going on there, I do feel confident in saying this: The man deserved to be treated with a little more respect and dignity, "unnamed sources" are chicken-sh!ts, and a newspaper that runs that crap is mighty low and irresponsible.

To UWSUPERFAN: Save me from your continued blessings. I'll do just fine on my own, thank you. And you can shove your karma. :P

I believe I read  in the article that the Administration was also concerned with what has happened during the past 6 or so seasons, not just this past.

I'll admit, I don't know Naatz that well.  My basis was solely on his association with the other coaches but I still feel that Strop and Carey got what they deserved.

I remember going to a couple of  those booster club meetings at Mardi Gras too.  I remember after a particular loss these coaches had no problem finding blame in players.  What stand up guys they where.  In fact, the whole 2003 season was pretty much blamed on the wide recievers.

Strop may have been a good defensive coach, but he wasn't a head coach.  That is why I supported hiring Montgomery from Mt. Union back in 2004.
I may not have much to say, but I'll say it anyway.

Pastprime... I agree completely with you!!  Yes players do play the games, however the way Stout lost a few of those games this past season goes directly on poor coaching and poor play calling.  Up huge against Platteville and you only call 15 run plays against a poor run defense.  Up 17 against River falls, and you call a roll out punt on your own goaline that gets blocked and costs you the game..  The Whitewaters and LaX's of the world put those teams away, and its not because Stout didn't have the talent to do so.

I still see a lot of people making wild allegations here with little or nothing to back them up.

Is this what they say in Platteville???   No offense intended but 3-7 teams stink whether they're in the WIAC or the MWC.
