Possible "Big News" out of Oshkosh:  ;)
1.  Finally scrapping that ugly Titan-head logo thing.
2.  Purchased visiting side bleacher unit from UW-La Crosse
3.  Convinced Tom Lechnir to play baseball games in Titan Stadium to get maximum usage out of Field Turf.  (Who needs dirt?)
4.  Officially changing nickname to the "B'Goshs"

C'mon DT, why make us wait?

Quote from: pastprime on January 20, 2007, 02:45:34 PMI remember going to a couple of  those booster club meetings at Mardi Gras too.  I remember after a particular loss these coaches had no problem finding blame in players.  What stand up guys they where.  In fact, the whole 2003 season was pretty much blamed on the wide recievers.

And Todd Strop was not the HC back then, Fast Eddy Meircourt was.  Strop didn't have anything to do with the WR's.

If you're going to try and blame this on someone (assuming it did happen), blame it on Eddy, not Todd!

Although I've relocated out of the area and can no longer attend, I've been to plenty of Booster Club meetings.  Can't say I've ever heard any player hating going on at any of them.

I was relayed information about the Titans which I relayed to Mr. DT. As of right now, that info is confidential, but like he said, should be announced in the next few days.
Don't give up. Don't ever give up.

After reading the info on here regarding news about uwo, I spoke with a friend of mine who still plays for the team and he told me that uwo's coach has left for the university of minnesota to coach there. More news to come.

Here's the scoop.....

UWO's Phil Meyer has resigned as Head Coach to take a position under Tim Brewster (a former player of his at Eastern Illinois??) as the Offensive Line Coach at the University of Minnesota.

Many people on the UWO campus would LOVE to see Defensive Coordinator Pat Cerroni be named the new coach.  My guess is there will be more that a few interested parties in this job once they open up the nationwide search.

Any chance Coach Zwiefel would be interested in this job??

Sorry, wishful thinking.

That is why I supported hiring Montgomery from Mt. Union back in 2004.

I supported Randolph-Macon going after him when we had an opening ... and then the next year he became available and took the job at an ODAC rival.

That burns.

Isn't this always the case? The people in and around the program, if they feel they have a good thing going on, always support the people they know and the least amount of change.

OshDude- Sorry, I have personal problems with Ackerman. I will give you he probably runs the cleanest programs in the WIAC though.

BTW, why dump on Ackerman? He runs a clean program that, by my count, has won 17 NCAA championships (not counting one for last year's men's VB team) in six sports on his watch (since 1991).  Besides, Al somehow gets people to pay $7 per event. That has to rank high on the D3 list as well.
Find someone else to flame. Ackerman is a huge asset at Oshkosh. To say anything else is foolish.
First of all, I credit those 17 National Championships to the outstanding coaches that UWO has.  Before you say well who do you think hires the coaches, name one coach that Ackerman has hired that has won a National Championship....  I would be waiting for awhile, because there hasn't been one single coach.  Lechnir, Bennett, Zupanc, and Vercauteren were all at UWO before Ackerman stepped foot on campus.

As far as getting people to still come to UWO events, it is usually a yearly occurence where one of the local reporters will talk about how empty Kolf or Titan Stadium look.  He may be getting some people to come, but no where near what schools like Point, Whitewater, and to some extent La Crosse get.

It was only a few years ago, where the football team had to forfeit games because of the use of an ineligible player.  Whose watch did that happen under?  None other than Al Ackerman..... ::)
