Well, good luck to anyone who participates in the pro day at Whitewater.

Congrats to Manning, the Colts and their fans.

Yes.....the rolling eyes thing meant I was being sarcastic...but in a joshing, friendly, let's rag on each other way.  It's kind of what this board has been about over the years.

I still would really like to know who are the 3 or 4 guys that the scouts have asked to see at WW.  If any of them would make it, you can be sure that as a D-III fan all would be supportive.

What Mount player/fan/alumnae wouldn't want to say......"see that guy.....Mount played against him TWICE and beat him both times".   ;D

KIDDING.......just kidding.

I don't have any insides sources so this is all speculation so anyone feel free to chime in here, (badgerwarhawk, the real one?) but I will throw a few names out.  Stanley has been getting looks for awhile now.  The TE has size, hands and speed to warrant a peek.  Also, maybe they would take a peek at a couple of LB's while they are there.  They have very good size and speed for this level.  According to the roster, Widuch is  6'3", 230 lbs, and he was a preferred walk-on at UW, I think.  Raebel is listed as 6'5" 241lbs.  (If the rosters are accurate.) Both have been 1st Team All-WIAC for years and both are All-Americans. (Doesn't matter to scouts, of course, but shows they competed well at this level.) But Raebel might have one more year left.  Don't know their 40's but they appear fast on the field.  Anyway, being great at this level doesn't translate to pro level unless you have good size for your position and speed so always a long shot.  I just think if scouts are going to show up for someone like Stanley, they don't mind looking around at any other possibilities even if a guy doesn't warrant a trip by himself.  Hence, the "3-4 guys" comment.  Besides who know if that number was accurate.   My guess is that they ASKED to see Stanley and then ASKED if there was anyone else to look at.

The pro scouts are actually going to work me out too. A little known fact is that I am a three time hooked-on-phonics all american letter opener. The Bears could use me to open all of Rex Grossman's mail for the next three years to make sure it's "safe."

Forget opening mail for Sexy Rexy you and Kleppe should have played.....you couldn't have been manhadled any worse than the Bears defensive tackles.....

Pro Days do not cost the school anything.  The only thing that could possibly be a charge would be if the facility needs to be rented out but the school usually doesn't charge the athletes for that.  As far as going to other schools pro day.  You need to go to that school or you need to have lived there in that city.  Athletes usually put down there parents address when they tell teams where they are from.  Lastly, why is there all this negative talk about D3 athletes having a pro day or having a shot to enter the NFL.  If this is a D3 community we should be happy about any athlete whether they are from UWW or Mount Union or St. Johns having a pro day or a shot.  I think its cool all these D3 kids are getting a shot!  More exposure for us!

Honestly I hadn't heard a thing about Pro Day in WW until I read about it here.  But I'll have a chance this Wednesday to speak with someone about it.

I can't imagine the university would charge anything for the use of Kachel Fieldhouse for this purpose.   Stanley has had 20+ NFL scouts looking at him this year so he'll get looked at.  If Bob Dougherty gets looked at Pete Schmidt will too.  Widduch I'm not sure about but he's an outstanding player who took a bit of a backseat this year by switching positions. Raebel has another year left.   I wouldn't see trying to come out early.

Unfortunately no pro scouts want to work me out.   I run hard.  Regrettably it is too long the same spot.

Who will be partaking in WW pro day?

This is the innocent little inquiry that started all the fuss days ago.  Wouldn't it be a real hoot if there isn't actually going to be a "Pro Day," held at UWW after all this?    ;D

As I thought about it, it would probably make more sense for the WIAC schools to partner up for a league-wide pro day at whichever facility is most convenient.  I imagine more than a few scouts would find that worthwhile.

Of course, that might require more cooperation than our beloved member schools are capable of.   ;)

It is up to the scouts who they want to see......

Actually last year there was one of these mini combine workouts where I believe 14 scouts were present. #2,#84,and a couple others worked out......It appears a few are coming back for a second or third look. Good luck to Derrick and Pete......

Did anyone see the Texas v. the Nation game this past weekend?  I looked at the box scores and Jesse Wendt logged 2 tackles and one incomplete pass wnet his way.  Anyone see the game to see how he competed against some of the big boys?

The point here is -- if UW-Madison doesn't want to host non-Badgers for a Pro Day, there is really no other option for WIAC schools but to do it themselves. In Minnesota, Oregon, Ohio, etc., there are other options. But in Wisconsin, how many football schools are there?

Plus it would cost the kids to transport themselves to Madison anyway. :)

I think a conference-wide day is a good idea.

I don't agree with a conference wide event.  Many have offered their opinion correctly, I feel, that there is no real expense now, but organizing a conference-wide event will place a real $$$ cost to the day, just in transportation expenses alone.  Interest on the part of the pro scouts should dictate if the day is even needed.  In some good years 3-4 players may be on the radar screens, other years, maybe zero. Madison has the guys where they can plan a day each year, but that's not the case in the WIAC.
