Who is going to be their O-Coordinator next year?  This can change alot of things in that offense and with personnel. ???

Madhawk

Englebert and Wendt are two guys that were on a bad team last year, thus they didn't get a lot of looks.  It is great that UW-Stout is hosting a pro day for these guys since we know they both have NFL bodies and the athleticism to go along with it.  Both guys will run faster 40's and bench 225 lbs more than any body at this years the NFL combine at their respected positions.  I recently checked out a webite of a guy who trains both of them and it said that both guys are currently running in the low 4.3's and bench pressing well over 30 reps.  Good luck to both of them and Whitewater's Stanley and Schmidt.  It is always nice to see guys from small schools make a name for themselves and their league.

It seems that Whitewater has opened quite a gap between themselves and the rest of the WIAC.  Will that gap narrow in 07?
It appears the gap will become more narrow but Whitewater still has a lot of talent. The biggest voids to fill in my opinion are at QB and the middle of the defensive line.....after that it will be adjusting to a new, what appears to be, run oriented offense. If they can adapt to the new system and fill in the voids credibly theY will be I believe the team to beat once again in the WIAC.....

I agree with you, Sakman, but not so sure that they will be returning to a "run-first, run often,"  offense with the loss of Jacobs.  The success that a balanced offense has brought to the Warhawks the last two years can not be ignored, IMHO.    Besides Razor and Donovon can certainly air it out and we have some great recievers returning and to take over for Stanley.  But as UniqueInsight points out, with the OC a question mark, everything is up for grabs! There are also some very big shoes to fill on the O-Line!!   ;)

I know this is off topic but I hope Ted Thompson gives up KGB for Randy Moss... Moss up top and driver and jennings over the middle sounds pretty good to me and throw a drafted tight end in there and they will be alright.

How many WIAC teams have a full 10 game schedule as of right now. I know La Crosse does and Stevens Point doesnt

River Falls has a full schedule-- Pac. Luth., St. John's, Hope College--Michigan

I think Whitewater should be favored this year, but the days of domination are gone.  With the parity the conference has now, they will have more of a struggle than the last two years.

Hopefully, La Crosse will challenge them for the title.

Whitewater has 4 of 5 starting linemen coming back, and also have a backfield that includes Justin Beaver, Brady Pittz, and other experienced ball carriers.  Whitewater's run game has been dominate for a few years now.  I would not expect this to change.  After all, it's players, not plays.  The information makes me think that Whitewater should be able to win conference again in 2008.  I'm sure there are many other WIAC teams who are working hard right now to see to it that I'm wrong.

Is the WIAC still going to be Stagg worthy in 2008?  Is everyone going to play the traditional WIAC non-conference and conduct non-conference business as usual?  I wish everyone's schedules were finalized so we can ponder these questions a little more.

I see that La Crosse, Oshkosh and River Falls all have a full 10 game schedule posted on their sites.  Its good to see La Crosse get a full schedule this year and I see they are playing some tough teams just like Stevens Point has the last few years.  Looking at La Crosses schedule I see that they end the year hosting Point.  Wouldnt that be something if they were both undefeated(doubt it) or atleast both have only one loss in the conference.... that way they would be battling for one of the two playoff appearances that the WIAC would get... that would be a great ending to what is always a competitive and exciting WIAC season... Im a fan of neither but that would be exciting if either of the two situations were to happen

Did anyone hear how stanley and schmidt did at their pro-day workout yesterday?? Any times or lifting results??

I think with all of the accomplishments that Alando Tucker continues to make on the basketball court, Justin Jacobs 'Male College Athlete of the Year' award continues to carry more and more weight.  Just throwing that out there.

CaptainKurt - However, it should be pointed out that Jacobs had a clear advantange of being able to complete his 2006 season, while Tucker's BB 2006-2007 season was just in it's infancy when the award is given out.  Depending on how far the Badger BB'ers go in the tournament, I think Tucker is the lock-down, odds-on favorite for 2007.  Chris Solinsky is probably the only other strong candidate.  But, he still has the outdoor track season to improve his outstanding credentials.  All three are/would be deserving of the award, though!

I'm not sure that Jacob's had a clear advantage.

Not that it matters but there's a flaw in your logic BoBo.  That is you fail to account for the games Tucker played after Jan 1, 2006 that were a part of the 2005-2006 BADGER season.  Which when you combine them with the games he played in the 2006 portion of the 2006-2007 season easily equal an entire season.  Perhaps Tucker was at a disadvantage because his 2006 season was split into two parts but those making the decision certainly had just as much a season to evalutate as Jacob's.

I agree with you though Solinski, Tucker, Jacobs, it's hard to go wrong picking anyone of the three.

Though from the moment Tucker's 2005-06 season ended he was being touted as conference POY and a national POY candidate by the national media.  Jacobs got recognition but nothing remotely close to Tucker.  That would seem to work to Tucker's advantage.
