Realist,

re: the WIAC basketball bids

Your statement wasn't quite true.  Three seasons ago, Oshkosh got the automatic bid via the conference tournament and Point got an at large bid.

The Realist

I see Point Special,

I stand corrected.  I guess I'm just in love with the WIAC so much I feel like we really could get two legit teams in year in and year out in basketball and football, among other sports.

And as Milton before him, he has burned down a building.

I think you're going to have to establish that allegation.

Congrats to Eau Claire on what turned out to be a pretty good game and a nail biter to listen to on the radio. In the world of the WIAC, good teams are seperated from the really good teams by how you finish a game and Eau Claire showed that.

Once again, Whitewater shows why they are the #2 ranked team. I'm thinking they have a pretty good shot at the Stagg Bowl.

My picks:

EC continues to roll
LAX bounces back big
UWP in a game that means nothing except to those two schools
UWO just because as a blugold fan we need them too shock the D3 nation

I'm new to the message board. But have followed for years. The one question I have is how is La Crosse still ranked and Eau Claire isn't?   ???

hawkshawkshawks

Sweet stats for the EC LAX game out of 156 total offensive plays between the two teams there were 214 total tackles. whats up with that

WIACPOWER

Only 2 teams out of the WIAC make the top 25 in d3football.com?

Only 4 teams make the Don Hansen poll of 40?

Isn't  there another poll out there?  Could someone post the site?

I think the WIAC is better then the polls but it looks like conference champ will most likely be the only playoff team.  Just my opinion.

My picks

Eau Claire over Stevens Point.  Eau Claire has to see themselves as still in the WIAC title hunt.  They will probably pummel SP

La Crosse over Stout.  I mean come on theres no way La Crosse is going to lose 3 in a row.

Whitewater over Oshkosh.  Whitewater should be very focused in this game.  I can't believe they would have the mentality that this game is a gimme.  Theyll work hard for this win.

Now we have Platteville and River Falls.  Oh geez was that a heartbreaking loss  last year.   Platteville 4-0 Falls0-4.  Platt was up 21-3 at halftime.  And because of some wide recievers were able to get wide open.  Falls somehow managed to iwn the game 25-21 at Plattevilles homecoming!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Platteville needs to get some revenge on that team.  I know both of those teams just hate each other very much.  And if theres any lack of unity in the Platteville locker room.  I will gurantee you they will be united in there hatred of Falls.  Platteville in a close one.

Plattfan, I'm not sure RF hates Platte as much Platte hates RF. The Falcons have managed to win the last 12 matches against the Pioneers. I think Falls would hate them more if this were more of a heated rivalry, but it's really a stranglehold which I, for one, am getting impatient to see the Pioneers overcome. If Falls has any reason to hate Platte, it was because of the last play of last year's game. Correct me if I'm wrong, Pioneer and Falcon fans, but as I remember it, the LOLB came off the edge and laid the smack on the Falcons' QB while he was taking his sweet time to kneel on the ball. I remember the Falcons' O-linemen getting pretty riled up about that.
Unfortunately the Pioneers fare worse up in Falls than in Platteville. I remember two years ago watching as the falcons rushed for 516 yards and 44 points on the Pios at Ramer Field. If this year's Pioneers continue their trend in run defense, the Falcons might have 600+ on Saturday. BUT, if there's one more W in store for the Pioneers this season, it's against Falls. GO GET EM PIOS
