Sweet stats for the EC LAX game out of 156 total offensive plays between the two teams there were 214 total tackles. whats up with that
In compiling football statistics, each play can have 0, 1, or 2 tacklers.

If the player runs out-of-bounds (without being pushed) or falls to the ground unaided, no tackle is awarded.

If there is just one tackler, that player is credited with a solo tackle.

If two players combine on a stop, each player receives an assisted tackle. (The NCAA used to allow three players to team up for assisted tackles, but stopped doing that a while ago.)

Adding the number of solo tackles plus the number of assisted tackles gives the Total Tackles for the player.

Since many plays end in assisted tackles, it's very reasonable that there would be more total tackles than actual plays in a game.

Quotethe LOLB came off the edge and laid the smack on the Falcons' QB while he was taking his sweet time to kneel on the ball. I remember the Falcons' O-linemen getting pretty riled up about that.

I was at that game and I don't remember seeing that.  But it was probably cause I was so mad I wasn't watching the field after it was a done deal.  And for Platt we know Nelsons out for the rest of the season.  But whats the status with Haynes, Gallick, and Danielson?   I think this game is all about menatlity.  If Platt goes out with the same mentality they had against Whitewater theyll lose.  It depends how much they care.  I mean what is the mentality of the Platteville players right now?  Anyone know?  I know Platteville wold hate to lose to River Falls though.

Only 2 teams out of the WIAC make the top 25 in d3football.com?

Only 4 teams make the Don Hansen poll of 40?

Isn't  there another poll out there?  Could someone post the site?

I think the WIAC is better then the polls but it looks like conference champ will most likely be the only playoff team.  Just my opinion.

The only other D3 poll I am aware of is the American Football Coaches Association poll which can be viewed here.....http://www.afca.com/lev2.cfm/384

Sorry, I like D3,  but I can't see awarding the Heismen to a D3 player regardless of how good he may or may not be.   Even the lowest level D1A programs compete against better competition so sheer numbers mean nothing.   Maybe if Elloit were still at Utah and putting up the numbers he is you might have an arguement.  But at Linfield against the teams he's been doing it to, well, you've got to be kidding.

Besides I'm sure as heck not going to do anything the feeds Linfield fans egos.  They're already out of control.  Calling it a dome when it looks like a county fairgrounds....sheeze.   ;)

Warhawk,

The county fairgrounds dig.  :)  Nice.  But it does seem like our little fair grounds structure, with little student body, is packing in more of a crowd than your 12,000 seat stadium/10,000 person student body this season.  :)

The WIAC is better then any poll out there. The biggest problem the conference has in football is that we beat the crap out of each other each and every week, and therefore come playoff time, the team and this year hopefully the teams that make it are so beat up the are drain physically.
Does anyone know if the number 1 seeds get a bye. I know that would be nice if they did. I realzie all the rankings are polictical, and everything, but I do hope that with the expanded playoffs that the WIAC gets two teams into the playoffs. As it is by far the best conference in all of division three football.
Which is shown by the parity through out the conference week in and week out.

You want some other polls well here they are, some power polls that rate all the possible factors.  You will see once those are weighed that the WIAC is well represented.

Actually, Maxwell Field at Linfield College is very similar to a number of other football stadiums in the Northwest.  The field looks a lot like the stadium at Western Washington University, a team that WW played several years ago. The Washington Huskies stadium also has a similar overhang.
Wildcat11 will probably be able to answer this better, but I beleive the overhangs are due to the fact that the Northwest is prone to rainy weather, especially in the fall and winter.

It sure appears that Linfield is a "stone cold lock" as the favorite to repeat as NCAA III champions this year. As for the Warhawks, they must still finish the deal to get in the playoffs.  If they do they will likely be moved from the West to the North region where they would be the #1 seed.  But here in WW, it is one game at a time - and not predicting national championships.  As the old saying goes, "Don't put the cart in front of the horse, because you just might get run over by the cart!"

WIAC fans just have their bitterpants on after their boys have gone 0-3 against Linfield the last two years (including two at the Catdome!).

The Realist

Hey,

Yeah that game at UWP last year against River Falls; the last play of the game that was me and some other guys going over the top to try to make him fumble or at least make him take an immediate knee.  I thought there may be enough time to at least make them try to punt.  It really wasn't very sportsmanlike and I apologize, but I was extremely frustrated with the game and how we lost.  If someone would have told me that we would not have given up a rushing TD to River Falls, then I would have thought for sure that we would have won, but we didn't.  Good luck to both teams playing this weekend as well as the rest of the conference.

Realist- I was referring to OLB Justin Kean but didn't want to mention names.

I am going to have to agree with warhawkguy that if Elliot wants the Heisman he should have beaten out Alex Smith and stayed at Utah and if he is number ten in heisman voting that poll is a joke.  I can think of 3 guys from each BCS conference that are better than Elliot.
