Difficult schedule.

Same as last year except for replacing a cupcake with a D-2 school.  Hope they haven't bitten off more than they can chew.  Playing two top 10 schools, (UW-LC and MHB,) and a D-2 could be tough.  A slip or two and it would mean no play-offs unless they secure the AQ bid.

Cupcake
Lakeland is still on the schedule. As I remember the Hawks had some issues getting their offense going against APU.
I wouldn't call APU a cupcake. Lakeland on the other hand thats a birthday cake of a game.Get the scrubs ready early.Unless they overlook them like they did in 04.
Gotta beat the best to be the best otherwise your just one of the rest

Sorry for the cliché but to be the best you have to (play) and beat the best.

My mistake.  I was thinking of the year before when they played St. Norberts. I agree, AP was not what I would call a cupcake.  The schedule is the same as last year but they have replaced AP, (not St. Norberts,)  with a D-2 school.  So come to think of it, it is not that much different from last years schedule afterall, is it?   ;)

Warhawk 96

It's kinda weak that they don't have a home game until Sept. 22nd ::)

I have rental property in a university community, and yes I do rent to athletes, as well as other students.  I also support my school financially.  Being in a position to have the discretionary power being discussed (whether I use it or not), using your logic, I would be guilty by association and should be punished.  Gimme a break, Pat, that's wrong and you know it.

No.

You would be just as guilty as Steve Terry is so far. Nothing is proven, is it? Just assumed on this board.

That's what's wrong -- assuming that Terry is guilty of anything solely because student-athletes rent from his family. I don't see why it's OK to assume that Terry is guilty but whenever Whitewater's guy is brought up, it's a different story.

I agree that we don't know that there was anything improper going on in regard for housing for student-athletes at either school.

But it is a major mistake for an athletic director to be renting to athletes, whether he does it directly or his wife does.

It just opens him up to too many questions.  Particularly if something goes wrong at the house like happened in Menomonie.

I just read over the posts from the last few days regarding the Stout issue and the AD.  IMO, most of the discussion was about whether it was smart for the AD to put himself in the position where his actions could be misconstrued, not whether he was guilt of any inpropriety or not.  I couldn't find any post where he was accused of doing anything wrong in regard to giving athletes special favors, (which I agree would be improper for anyone to say,) just that it was probably not a smart move to own and rent to athletes given his connection to them.

For what it's worth, the rental biz here in Menomonie is a really tough market. There are "For Rent" signs all over the place.

The landlords have a hard time keeping their places rented.

I'm all about giving props to the local cops. Obviously our enforcement squads are doing their job.

Other than Stoutguy that is. They should have locked him up years ago.  :D

I haven't assumed he's quilty and I've stated it wouldn't surprise me if any inquiry into the matter determined nothing inappropriate was going on.   But I'm just not going to sit here and let people take unsubstaniated shots at WHITEWATER.  Particularly when I know they are mistaken.

I don't even have a problem with an AD renting to athletes.  Records are kept and if they're comfortable with the issues that may arise who am I tell them how they can do business.   I have a hard time imagining Mr Terry couldn't forsee the possibility of questions arising with his renting to athletes.

The happenings in the Stout football program do cause me concern because I believe, in the minds of some, they reflect on the WIAC and it's member institutions as well.

Excited to hear Whitewater is coming to St Cloud State Sept 15th.  Should be a lot of Johnnie fans interested in checking out the 07 Warhawks after watching St Johns earlier in the day.

I wouldn't get stressed out BW. The only people who's reputation has taken a hit are the 5 football players who got busted.

It no more reflects on Whitewater or the WIAC than it should on the other 95 players of the Blue Devil football team or any other student athlete at Stout.

I feel no guilt by association and I'm BlueDevil Bob for chrissakes.  :D

Stoutguy however, now he's embarrasing.  ;D

Thanks for the confirmation, Bobo.  Wasn't sure where I had heard that.
Probably turned into a break for UWW since they lost by 24 in '02 and that '03 SJU team was pretty fair.

razor_ramone

SJU pretty fiar in 03. hey beat the king of division three football Mount Union. Heck When Mount Union doesn't win the national title the players vote not to have a banquet. As they have nothing to celebrate, and they let down former purple raiders who won it all. As they expect to win it all or play in the stagg bowl every year.
I like that idea we don't win it all no post season banquet, as there is nothing to celebrate. Of course that means only one team would be having a banquet.
Rememebr Second place is the first loser. ;D

I guess, relatively speaking,  all this does pale in comparison to Stoutguy.   ;););)  Thanks for putting it into perspective Bob.  Now I feel better.  :D

Razor...Under a one and done playoff format wouldn't second place be the last loser?
