Mr. Downtown

To be honest, if the game was played in Oshkosh, it might have hit 2000 in attendence. And thats might...

One thing to know about Whitewater, and its the only thing anyone needs to know...

Speed kills.

Unless there is some team out there that can match up to Whitewater's speed. Don't bother with the upset crap. It's not going to happen.

As for Oshkosh, a good match-up against Eau Claire next week for the last home game of the season. I will be broadcasting it for TV, so i hope its a good one...

But on a side note, Oshkosh football fans, well....oshkosh sport fans are distracted here with conference championship week. Possibly a bigger feel good story then the football team, the Womens volleyball team mainly consisting of Freshman and Soph, with a two year coach, and one senior, shared the conference title with the D3 Powerhouse Whitewater for the title. Along with the womens soccer team seeded 2nd, I just wanna give a shout out to the rest of the sports, especially for Oshkosh, and go girls!!

Oh, and when your men's basketball team is ranked 2nd in the nation preseason, that also tends to steal your attention away from what is happening on the gridiron.

One thing about this year's WHITEWATER[/color] team that seperates it from past teams is the passing attack.  Jacobs has improved considerably and the receivers are talented and fast.  In the past teams focused on stopping the running attack and when successfull we weren't always versatile enough to beat it though the air.  This year we are.

Yesterday the running game wasn't that effective in the first half yet we put 20 points on the board through the air.  Against Platteville Jacobs was on a record pace before being injured and leaving the game for good.   That's been the case in other games as well.

For what it's worth, attendance was poor but I thought Oshkosh had a pretty decent road crowd.  UW Oshkosh was awarded the regional tournament for women's volleyball but by then the football team will be a forgotten memory.  ;) ;)

what's going on at Lax? First they get beat  by ww in the last seconds of the game.

a tough loss to EC...then only score 6 points yesterday?

is this team falling aprart?  or will coach terry finish strong?

The St Olaf fans were touting the speed that the Olies have this year.  St John's 63 - St Olaf 6.

I hope a WIAC team wins the national championship this year or next or sometime in my life time. If they do, it would be great. and if they do, I promise not to go to every conf. posting board and lord it all over everyone. I  have seen St. Johns and now Linfield do it, and it's sad. Everyone everywhere has congratulated you, what the hell do you want?

I believe that UWW's attendence was 4th in the nation at D-3 last year, up from 7th the year before.

I grew up just across the border from Wisconsin in Illinois. I have always thought the D3 teams in Wisconsin played some of the best D3 football in the county. I played against a few of them many years ago while at SJU- no complaints - very hard physical games- but also very fair and well coached teams.

The WIAC schools all appear to have a larger number of students that most MIAC schools -- excluding St. Thomas- but I probably agree on your point about private schools being more loyal.

I just think when you have the number 2 ranked undefeated team playing at home there should be more than 2,400 fans in attendence. On can always hope. On a positive note WW was number 4 last year in attendence with 4600 average. In 2004 the MIAC averaged 2900 per game and WIAC 2600 not much in the difference.  Not sure about 2005 averages. In 2004 in the top 20 for D 3 were SJU, WW, Bethel, Stout, Wartburg and Loras- the only other west team in top 20 at 12 was Linfield.

Thank you for telling us that for the 550th time this season.  Which, of course, comes no where near the 10,000 times you told us that last year but I for one have no doubt it will get there before the season is over.  I've written it down on a notepad so I won't forget.

Have you seen SJU play so you're familiar with that or are you simply basing it on the St Oaf game?

Mount Union dominated D3 for years.  Yet, in all that time, I never saw any of their supporters who travelled around the forums calling attention to themselves like Linfield.

We got a dome, we got speed, we got a Heisman candidate, we draw more fans than you, we do this, we do that, blah, blah, blah.  It's reaching the point of absurdness but I wouldn't expect any of you to see that.

warhawkguy;;

keep your shorts on.. That was just an answer to Mr. Downtowns  quote About Speed kills.
And yes I have seen some of the current SJU boys in action..

And I will stand by my quote "  The only way WW gets out of the west is if the ncaa moves them out"   Like being a number one seed...

lighten up big boy   :-*  have a kiss,   " Speed kills  " Ask your WIAC friends from Stevens point.  ;D

I was broadcasting the game at Whitewater on the radio this past Saturday and the response me and broadcast partner had was real simple: Whitewater really is that good and Mr. Downtown is right: They won't lose or get upset until they get deep into the playoffs and I'm not even sure if they will then. Their offense is second only (imo) to Linfield. Oshkosh had their chances, but they seemed to hit the wall whenever they got to the 30 yard line. They started inside Warhawk territory at least 3 times and another on their own 48. Once they got there, they were able only to get 1 or 2 first downs and then they'd stall. Even though they lost by 29 points, it didn't seem like they were outplayed that badly. They obviously didn't play their best game, but it also wasn't their worst either. Whitewater is just that good and I wish them the best of luck the rest of the year.
Don't give up. Don't ever give up.

desertcat1,

You sure have the Whitewater people shaking in their boots.  That win over Stevens Point this year was impressive, I will say that!  From what I'm hearing. there is no way ANY TEAM out West, with the exception of maybe St. Johns will be able to give you guys a game during the upcoming playoffs.  Best of luck in Salem.

Tough for me to say who should be the #2 team in the country. UWW has put up the points and looks as though they have a tough D not knowing how many of those scores came during garbage time. Yet St. Johns always has a good D just better this year and is putting the points up as well. If I go just by the common opponent I'd have to pick WW as #2. The only thing that really matters is who's #1 in the final poll
