Everyday is payday in paradise.

St. John's prevailed at UWRF, 21 - 10.  From  a Falcon perspective, they were hurt by an inability to consistently defend the speed option.  QB Storm Harmon absorbed quite a few hits and this seemed to effect his efficiency as the game wore on. I'd guess both teams came away feeling that there were more positives to build on than negatives to worry about.

UW-Stout having a tough time stopping the pass - Rolla 14 Stout 0 in the first quarter

I agree w/Kestrel's assessment. The Falcons did not have what it required to win after taking a ten point lead into the half. The key was the Johnnie march to two consecutive td's early in the second half, taking a 14-10 lead. Also, Falcons could not capitalize on 3 Johnnie to's, but Johnnes were able to score on a couple of Falcon miscues.

Falcon defense was very good. I heard a guy w/a SJU cap say at half he could not remember when SJU had been shut out at half. Johnnie adjustments at half proved decisive, as they moved the ball easily early in the 3rd quarter.

Later, Falcon coach J.O. said often a team used to playing on turf struggles on grass. Perhaps that was a factor.

Would like to have had more talk w/Johnnie fans after the game. Should have invited you guys over to the Copper Kettle, a block away, to dissect the game. Maybe two years from now.

Good luck to Johnnies rest of the way, and thanks to Johnnie Red for Minnesota cheese curds--almost as good as Wisconsin cheese curds!

What BoBo no more updates?

Sarcasm aside, stanbob, anybody rooting for SJU will probably wake up Sunday morning full of concern (as well as the usual stuff after a game) over this performance.  One the bright side, you will return to conference play for your remaining games, so your previously scheduled undefeated season is intact.
Your next visit to Wisconsin later this season may not be as forgiving.

99, are there live stats for the Stout game or is it just on the radio?

I am on the net via a link on the Stout site.  Stout just scored on a 64 yard drive.  Currently 21-7.

I'm not too concerned.  A win is a win, no matter how ugly it is.

I'll give props to River Falls.  They were much better than the team we saw last year.  Harmon is the real deal, and Zwiefel looked good, as did the TE.  They have a good amount of team speed, too!  I expect them to do fairly well in the WIAC this year.

It was definitely a story of two halves.  SJU came out cold and RF was ready to play.  Luckily, we have a top-notch coaching staff that made the necessary adjustments.

I was a bit confused at the end of the game.  Why did RF give up?  Down by 11 with over two minutes left and they were content to run out the clock.  Hmm...

Sounds like River Falls has a decent team that just needs to learn what it takes to win.

Stout had a chance late in the 2nd quarter with a recovered fumble on the Rolla 30 but failed to capitalize.  Half time Rolla 21-7

If anybody is interested, I have 2, 50 yard line seats for next weeks Michigan/ND game at the Big House.  I'll even throw in 100 bucks, too.  Any takers?
