Oh, how the mighty have fallen. Two losses, and Big Blue's football program at Michigan is in the dumper... Ouch... Go Bucky!

Tough loss for Wabash. I understand wanting to win, and having your best players on the field at all times to do so... But, the starting QB, albeit with good hands, on the onside kick?

That's a play when players are probably most vulnerable, especially if they have to go into the air to field a bouncing ball. Not sure how the injury happened, but the kid had had a whale of a game, too, passing for 477 yards, a school record...

And finally, the wonderful people at FSN Wisconsin treated us in Wisconsin to college football tonight. Tuned in after the Blugold game to watch the Brewers/Reds game, only to see Texas A&M and Fresno State go into overtime...

They went three OTs, before Texas A&M won, 47-45. Took them up to about 7, so I thought they'd join the Brewer game, which had started at around 6, in progress. But no... This was one of the games FSN was not scheduled to carry. Bummer. But I did enjoy what I saw of the OT. Quite entertaining...

But the good news, I saw the Brewers were trailing 3-0, so I forgot about them, and took a nice little nap. Log on to the net later and, low and behold, they win, 4-3! Still tied with the dreaded Cubbies though...

And finally, check out this link, and click on the Stanley-Boyd high school football game story at the top of the page... http://www.weau.com/

A guy, who had what may have been a medical condition, was leaving the game, which was still in progress. He smashed through the fence around the field, and ended up on the field, knocking down the goalpost. Fans had to scatter as his vehicle sped onto the field... Luckily, no one was hurt. Just rattled everyone, including the players...

Note: there are two stories on the Stanley-Boyd football game. Click on the link for the players' reaction; that part of the story contains actual home video of the van driving on to the field...

That's got to be an odd sight, a car knocking down the goalpost during a game.  Have to see the "lady in the stands" video.  Post it if you get a chance.

I was admiring the pictures of the new video scoreboard being constructed at the north end of Perkins Stadium on the UW-W campus when something strange occured to me. I urge you to take a look at the pictures taken on 9/6 and 9/8 on warhawkfootball.com http://www.warhawkfootball.com/newswire.asp
It looks like the construction crew hasn't actually worked especially hard between these days - the only cosmetic difference in the pictures taken two days apart was the addition of one advertising panel in the lower right of the board (oh, and they moved the truck, too!).  At that rate of assembly, it will take until Tuesday to finish it  ;).  If and when it is finally completed and operating, it looks like a nice addition to an already nice stadium.

I'll give props to River Falls.  They were much better than the team we saw last year.  Harmon is the real deal, and Zwiefel looked good, as did the TE.  They have a good amount of team speed, too!  I expect them to do fairly well in the WIAC this year.

Damn, just what the WIAC needs, another contender!   :o ;D  All kidding aside, good for UW-RF.  With the loss of the wishbone and the addition of the "Z" effect, I'm am not too surprised.

BoBo,

A little bit of knowledge can be a dangerous tool!  Maybe the publisher of Warhawkfootball.com should have gotten out of his cushy office chair overlooking Perkins Stadium and walked up to the press box to show the Datronic's workers working on the other major potion of the new state-of-the-art video scoreboard.
With original wiring for the scoreboard accomplished in 1970, its obvious the new scoreboard requires significant rewiring, etc.  The work is being done outside of camera view, but work has continued at a rapid pace.  The reason you don't see workers at the actual scoreboard is that it is completely erected with the exception of the lower right back-lit panel.

Oshkosh - Huntingdon game is available for viewing @ http://www.wsfa.com/global/Story.asp?s=7037852

Nice broadcast. The Huntington announcer is a lot of fun.

Although when UWO punts and it's downed at the 20: "Excellent field position for the Hawks!!"  . . .  it seemed like he just felt the urge to fill air.

Still, props to any program that can get a webcast done.

And it was fun to watch another dominating out-of-region win for a West team.

I realize a lot more goes on behind the scenes then meets the eyes.  But pictures speak a thousand words (and were just a little funny).  :)

Don't call BoBo a dangerous tool. :)

UWRF looks to be firmly moving towards a 21st century attack.  Congratulations to the Falcons on your performance vs SJU.  Your wideouts made the Johnnie DBs commit acts of whiplash as the ball moved easily to it's target.   :)

Did anyone notice that Webber International, the NAIA school in Florida that
UW-Stevens Point beat last week 13-7, lost to the Citadel on Saturday 76-0.
http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/clubhouse?teamId=2643  Now, why would a FCS (I-AA) team schedule an NAIA school one week and an AP top 7 team like Wisconsin the next? I guess a pay day? But, just seems rather strange.  Citadel, BTW, plays App State on 11/3.

Anyway, that wasn't even the most lopsided game of the weekend.

The WARHAWK JV squad lost a close one to Harper Junior College 37-35 on Saturday.   The game was close throughout with one team scoring and the other answering quickly.  WHITEWATER managed to put consecutive scores on the board and take the lead into the final couple of minutes but Harper's passing attack was a little too much for us to handle and was able to put them in position for the game winner.
