I especially like the fact that it keeps live track of stats. I didn't realize how massive it was. I do have to break the habit of looking left though for the score.

That's my job on the scoreboard.  I'm glad you feel it adds to the experience.

It's a tough habit to break.  I did it more than once too and I'm working on the new board. :D

BW,

Do you have to manually enter the yardage totals after each play, or do are they automatically uploaded from the stat computer?

I've done it each way.  It's pretty sweet when you have the direct link.

...also, if they have a stats computer, could they interface it with a web live stats program to make it a truly outstanding experience, either at the Perk or at home?  As you can tell, I'm starting to make a push to get live stats added ASAP.  Here, they just got the advanced scoreboard and already I want more!!  ;)

...oh, and the Wesley football coach is calling...they want to know when will the field turf be installed?  :-[

In the new D3football.com top 25 http://d3football.com/top25.php?year=2007&week=4, MHB defeats Texas Lutheran and picks up 2 additonal votes from week 3, Whitewater defeats EC and picks up 9 additional votes,  SJU routs Concordia and loses 2 votes, La Crosse is idle and loses 7 votes and 5th position to St. John Fisher, who gains 7 votes, moves to 5th from 6th for beating Ithaca 37-16, Wheaton goes from 9th to 7th picking up 29 votes in the process for routing an 0-3 Hope team that got routed by a 1-2 River Falls in the season opener for those teams.  Furthermore, Linfield is idle, but gains 12 votes.  Anybody have an explanation for the slap in the face to the La Crosse Eagles?

Where do you think those seven votes come from?

Interfacing Perkins Stadium new live stats ability with the new scoreboard is a great idea.
That said...BadgerWarhawk did an fantastic job keeping the running rush and pass stats on
the new board.  I cross-checked between BWs numbers and the live stats numbers and he was
amazingly close...within 3 to 5 yards total each time.  That is an awsome job!!! :)

Great to be back in the Perk for some primo tailgating. Badgerwarhawk the new scoreboard is awesome and you did a great job......especially like the game stats and individual pictures of the players. Danny Jones looked good and should get even better with each game. I was only going to go to home games this year but it looks like I am going to make the trip to LAX....can't miss it....Pound the Rock.....

Of course, Mr. Coleman, I'm aware of that...that's the reason why I wrote what I did...but what's the possible explanations for an idle La Crosse even losing 7 votes in this situation while an idle Linfield gains 12.  That's not strange voting?  How does Wheaton gain so many votes and moves up 2 places for beating an 0-3 team? And BTW, not that I'm too concerned about fortunes of Wesley, but they lost on the field by 1 and lose over 200 votes in the poll? Rather severe punishment for a 1 point loss, don't you think?  Were they that much over-rated by the voters prior to this past weekend?  I realize it's only week 4, but why should LC get screwed for SJF getting a run-of-the-mill win?  Is this just typical early season adjustments/corrections being made? I've read many sarcastic or downright negative comments made by you and others about other polls, but for some reason no one has the balls to question what goes on with this one.  No harm, no foul, I hope.

I have to manually enter them but the total updates by itself.

Thank you for the kind words, everyone.   I have to learn how official statisticians record yardage when the ball is placed between yard lines.  Then I'll have it down.

As I said before, and please keep it in mind, as scoreboard operators we are in our infancy.  There's so many things that can be done with it that you can't learn them all immediately.  For instance showing the attendance which was simply listed this time.  Why not a guess the attendance feature like Miller Park?  Several new ideas were tossed around during the game.  It's going to get even better.

Bobo, look at these polls as informational.  The only polls that really matter are the regional ones which will be coming out in the future.   Those are the polls worth arguing.  ;)

Thanks...I know I shouldn't get too worked up about it...but, when I see something that doesn't quite register on my common sense meter, I can't just sit on my hands...however, I will heed your advice this time and wait for the regional rankings to say what's on my mind!!

Just a quick diversion from todays grind to a different kind of (bump) and grind.  Here's another example why the NFL stands for the No Fun League:

No. Linfield was not in a position to be passed by St. John Fisher. They were behind St. John Fisher on every ballot.

How does Wheaton gain so many votes and moves up 2 places for beating an 0-3 team?

Because they did it with their backup quarterback after their starter was lost for the season the previous week with a serious head injury. The dominant win for Wheaton shows that they can still put points on the board without their starter at QB and restored a fair amount of confidence in them. This was in conjunction with another lackluster win by Central, which was immediately above Wheaton.

At home to a lower ranked team. Wouldn't you say, then, that Montclair winning at Wesley should be ranked ahead of Wesley now? How else to do that but to take a lot of points away from Wesley and give a lot to Montclair State?

You should get out to the other boards. They happen all the time.  But a lot of people don't question the poll because they can look and see many of those factors which I just described to you. They know they cannot look at just one piece (UW-L dropping a spot) and complain about it -- you have to look at the whole picture.
