Good luck to both.  I've always found both websites informative.

Jim once relieved me as the public address announcer during the WIAC baseball tournament in WHITEWATER.   I had never met him before that but I've attended the WIAA HS tournament many times and once I heard his voice I instantly recognized it.  He's really, really good at it.

This may be old news, but I FINALLY saw the UWW - UWEC game last night. I was quite impressed with Danny Jones, particularly in his ability to throw strong accurate passes on the move. Although I was just as unimpressed with UWEC inability to adjust at the half. I know they were hampered by their QB situation, but couldn't they try some option runs, or something different. Remember that one definition for insanity.

Here are some stats on a guy who DIDN'T win Player of the Week, Greg Neumann, defensive end:  4 qb sacks (two back to back, first q.), with a total of 32 lost Pointer yards, one fumble recovery, 6 total tackles. The 4 sacks is a single game Falcon record. GN leads the league in sacks.

I would think that once in a while the pickers could give the award to a guy on a team which did not win the game, and maybe they do. Regardless, it was one of the best defensive performances ever in Falcon football history. It's likely nobody else gets 4 sacks in a WIAC game this year.

I bet the voters are a bunch of Seinfeld fans holding his name against him.   ;D
What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

From the TOW page.
QuoteThe Team of the Week is selected by D3football.com staff and contributors from players nominated by SIDs, coaches and conference offices. Nominations are due Mondays at 9 p.m. ET.
That's a great performance. Did he get nominated?

I might be wrong but my guess is that Fred is referring to him not getting WIAC Player of the Week, and yes, he was nominated for that.   Congrats to Greg on a great performance.

No doubt. But since the question was asked, it seemed like a good idea to answer it.

Not that Neumann didn't have a great game and isn't worthy of the honor because he certainly is.  But how likely is it that someone else will do what Rindahl did in the fourth quarter this year, Fred?   I think the improbability of it happening is equally remote to a four sack game.

That said I'm sure the staff has had to develop a strategy for containing Neumann.   Hopefully it is successfull because he is obviously a force that must be dealt with.

My error in reading the original post. :-[ Still, darn impressive stats.

What's the word on Justin Beaver? Will he play this week?

Sakman 1111

I am told that Beaver is fine.....Falcon you make a good case it is rare that you see someone from the losing team get that award from the WIAC. Also Falcon we will be at the Perk Saturday and I owe you a beer from last year in River Falls but we will not have our customary tent set up since my partner Butch broke his leg.....We should be over by the pavilion with that crazy guy who blows the horn. Beer is on the house for the mayor.....

bw--obviously, Rindahl had a great game, and obviously, I'm prejudiced for the Falcon player. I was referring to the WIAC nomination. My take on the fourth q. performance of Rindahl, if you're referring to recovering the fumble which led to the winning td, is that recovering fumbles is largely a matter of luck: if a player is in the right place at the right time, he can recover a fumble. But maybe that's not what you meant.

Sak--I probably will not make the trip: 5.5 hrs. (for me) one way, a probable short time for feeling good about the game (first quarter?), the drive back after the game and after having a few with you guys (sure, I could be moderate, but what fun is that?), and the fact I'm not young anymore all combine to keep me close to the radio.

Agreed.  There were a lot of players that contributed to that 4th quarter comeback on the defensive side of the ball.

I know the feeling (feeling old) that's why I didn't make the trip to LaCrosse....We will have one in your honor at the Perk...
