Sorry all.  Not trying to avoid any terms of service...just see my email account and worried about spam, thought I could change what is shown to the rest of the world to see.  I guess we are all on the honor system here.

Back to WIAC football.

I didn't see Raebs hit, but heard it was a slobberknocker.  I guess with most hits that are helmet to helmet, you worry about the attacker more than the hittee.
Good way to break a neck.  We don't coach that.  I know it happens, but we don't coach it.

When I see some kid get hurt by a vicious hit, I wonder why I love this game so much.  Hate to see anyone get seriously hurt.

Good luck to all.  Stay healthy.

"The former Warhawks ball boy leads the WIAC with 36 receptions for 474 yards, and is tied with teammate Ryan Hansen with four TD receptions."

The article was going great Jeff, but then you had to throw this in there.  I was crying when I read this because it brought back some memories of that kid on the sideline when we scored a couple games.  When was going crazier than most of us players.  Good to see that he's doing good.  Whitewater's D will be a tough test, but I know Z taught that kid well.  Shut em down hawks!

I talked to a few friends that have gone to some Pointer games and they said that Mike Ferron is the real deal.  They said he runs hard and is hard to bring down.  They said he looks pretty fast too.  But we will see how good he is when he goes against some better defenses.

The comments regarding the hit on Moe has been very interesting to me and has brought a lot of people into the discussion in a constructive way.  One thing that has yet to be mention is the condition of Moe this week.  Does anybody know if he will be able to play this week?  Has he practiced?  We all probably heard that interview he gave to WKBT after the game.  He sounded ok, but has he gotten the MD clearance to play is another question.  I know he and Almonroeder were neck and neck as they battled for the #1 throughout pre-season camp. It was a tough spot for Gus to enter the game against WW, but he seemed unprepared to lead the Eagles in the backup role. The warhawk defense had a lot to do with that, too.  I think if Moe is unable to go on Sat. vs EC, it could really change the dynamics of that game and  I might want to re-consider by pickem choice.

That reminds me, all you new guys, head over to the WIAC pickem thread listed under General Football to make your predictions for this weeks games.  Eventhough we are in week 6, you can still get into the action and there is a lot of football yet to be played.  Good Luck!

So says the La Crosse Tribune, Moe will not start tomorrow against the Blugolds... He suffered a mild concussion vs. Whitewater...

Gray-shirt freshman Alex Seguin, from Black River Falls, will take his first collegiate snap and make his first collegiate start for the  Eagles...
He edged out sophomore Gus Almonroeder in practice this week.

Paper also says Moe is expected back next week.

BoBo

Thanks bulk19.

Do you know anything else about Seguin besides being a freshman?

This development certainly will make me reconsider my decision to pick the Eagles.  But, I don't know if I have enough confidence in EC to carry it through!

As the legendary Sam Cooke would say:
"Don't know much about history,
"Don't know much biology,
"Don't know much about a science book,
"Don't know much about the French (or, in my case, the Spanish) I took."

Don't know much about Seguin, either...
That being said, I don't know how to pick the Blugold game tomorrow, either. I always mess that pick up, trying to decide by my heart, or with my Scarecrow-like brain...

Blugolds have played well on D this year so far. Perhaps they will bring the kitchen sink and try to rattle the QB? Or just sit back and be spiders in the web, and wait for the turnovers they've been forcing to happen. Then capitalize on them..

LAX has to be POd over the loss last weekend, and will be looking to make a statement tomorrow...

Not sure what to expect? An aerial circus like both teams offenses conducted last week? The 'Golds QB put up quite the numbers for his first start? Will that happen again? And what is the new Eagles QB capable of doing?

I'm thinking both teams will keep things simple, try to control the ball, run the clock, and not make mistakes, for a defensive, low-scoring game... Lots of punts, and special teams will win it, be it a field goal, or a blocked kick... But for whom?...

That being said... it will probably end up being a 49-42 shootout in triple OT!  ;)

Ahem.  I beg your pardon.

But I will be at Whitewater tomorrow, not Eau Claire.   ;D
What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

bulk19

SPECIAL TEAMS WINS IT FOR EAU CLAIRE!!!

A 46-yard field goal by Craig Kolb with 29 seconds lefts wins it for the Blugolds 31-29, over the Eagles, who were trailing 28-9 with 12:30 left in the game, only to regain momentum and swagger and come roaring back to put up three TDs to take the lead at 29-28...

Wow!!! What a game, in record-setting heat and humidity from Carson Park, to send the homecoming crowd home happy...

Blugolds' special teams have a blocked punt that led to a nine-yard scoring drive, and blocked a field goal and EP to help pull off the upset...

Back later after I catch my breath for a Gold-wrapped summary...

Let's see ... Eau Claire beat Oshkosh at Oshkosh ...still ranked behind them ... now beat La Crosse... probably will still be ranked behind them. Their only loss came at UW-WW right after they lost their QB (and before they "found" Schaueble). They played four of their first five games on the road. They're 5-1.
Any chance of getting some respect? And, by the way, I don't want to hear any whining from LX fans about playing with a back-up quarterback. In case you hadn't noticed, EC is on their 4th QB!!!

Congrats to Coach Glaser and the 'Golds!

Just Bill

You know a regular contributor willing to talk about their team would carry a lot more weight than some guy making their first post in two years whinning about respect.

Congratualtions on remembering your password.  Stick around and be part of the group.

Very well said Just Bill, +k.

With the 2 ultra-slim victories behind them and a 4 TD loss, I would think the most important thing right now for a Blugold fan is just take these games one at a time, not be worried about what other people think.  You have River Falls next; I would advise that's your immediate concern.  Your margin of error is very small right now.  As an optimist, you are 2-1, in third place in conference and "gaining" respect.  Your pessimist friend could, without difficulty, say you could be 0-3 and in last place.

Also, and trust me on this one (I've learned the hard way!), the rankings don't mean anything this time of year.  The only rankings you need to worry about now are the conference standings.

Just Bill -

Wow, I had forgotten what vitriol could result from posting on here. Congrats on figuring out how to check my post history. For the record, I wasn't whining. I was just making an honest comment. I did not expect this from this year's squad. I do feel they deserve some recognition, although your comment about the ratings is exactly right!

As for my "credentials," I've witnessed over 350 football games involving WIAC teams and love this league. I also am a regular visitor to this site, though not a regular poster. I guess I will return to that role, since I'm not qualified to comment!

bgbacker

Sorry, BoBo ... I meant your comment on the ratings was accurate.

A few notables coming out of games today:

* WW's Justin Beaver rushed 25 times for 233 yards vs RF, his school record seventh 200 yard game in his career.

* RF linebacker Bruce Baillargeon had a monster game...22 tackles, 17 of them solos against WW.

* UWO's Joe Patek completes 10 of 16 passes for 302 yards in the first 31 minutes of game, including plays of 48, 53, 69 and 80 yards vs Stout.

* UWO's Lucas Raschke hits his 44th career field goal, the third - highest total in NCAA Div. III history.

* Stevens Point's victory over Platteville extended the NCAA III's second-longest winning streak to nine games.

*  The Pointers' Jake Swank threw four touchdown passes, including three first-half scores to Brad Kalsow, and ran for another, helping UWSP win its 17th straight against UWP.

* LC outgained EC in total yards 409-to-282, but were beaten on a Craig Kolb 46 yard field goal with :24 remaining.  In going 5-1, the Blugolds have outgained on offense only one opponent all year.

* LC's Alex Seguin, making his first career start for UW-L, finished 27-of-46 passing for 256 yards with one touchdown in the loss at Eau Claire.

* Stout's Tanner Kattre had 145 yards rushing on 27 carries and was 13-of-30 in passing for 140 yards, but was picked off three times.
