Word out of EC is that the incoming recruiting class has some very large bodies and some good talent.  Looks like Hoffner is finally bringing the player that he wants, or the sport turf is helping to recruit better players.

You really know your team.  Just one thing.  Hoffner went to USD two years ago so his recruiting really fast players isn't going to help the Blugolds much.

Great job today!

I, for one, know that you carry more weight on here than almost all the other posters on here, and that you've witnessed more WIAC football games on here than most of the posters here, too... And have probably forgotten more about WIAC football than most of us know, too...  ;)

How silly, and ironic, that the guy who was on here a week or so whining, er complaining, er, asking for an explanation on how the rankings are done regarding La Crosse and Whitewater, would make that statement...

My optimistic friends say the Blugolds are 2-1 in conference, and my optimistic friends say Whitewater could be 2-1 as well...

BoBo

Right, the third one...I was asking for clarification how the rankings are done from the guy who knows (do you know?) and he gets all bent out of shape over it (meaningless at this point, by the way)...not me.

And secondly, your optimistic friend is absolutely correct, no one will disagree with that...however, since that wasn't part of the original comment, I find it to be irrelevant to this discussion.  My point was and remains, rather than plead like the little boy getting sand kicked in his face at the beach, prove it in the standings and you will get all the respect you deserve & earned.  If you're not capable of seeing that, than I will be more careful and choose my words better next time.  Sorry for the misunderstanding.

clarification, or whining... I guess we will have to agree to disagree on that one...

Please type real slowly, BoBo... I'm a Blugold... I can't understand what you are saying... I thought somewhere in this thread in your original post to bgbacker you said something about optimism and pessimism... So I lumped my comment in about that one with my response to your bellyaching comments to bgbacker...

I guess I should have taken them separately, and made responses to each different post, so you could keep things straight...

Let's see ... Eau Claire beat Oshkosh at Oshkosh ...still ranked behind them ... now beat La Crosse... probably will still be ranked behind them.
Any chance of getting some respect?

With the 2 ultra-slim victories behind them and a 4 TD loss, I would think the most important thing right now for a Blugold fan is just take these games one at a time, not be worried about what other people think.  You have River Falls next; I would advise that's your immediate concern.  Your margin of error is very small right now.  As an optimist, you are 2-1, in third place in conference and "gaining" respect.  Your pessimist friend could, without difficulty, say you could be 0-3 and in last place.

Also, and trust me on this one (I've learned the hard way!), the rankings don't mean anything this time of year.  The only rankings you need to worry about now are the conference standings.

Thanks for having my back. And great call on "special teams will win it."
Just to maybe lighten the mood, here is me "pulling a Rodney Dangerfield:"
:D
I could tell that my parents hated me. My bath toys were a toaster and a radio.

I had a lot of pimples too. One day I fell asleep in a library. I woke up and a blind man was reading my face.

I knew a girl that was so ugly that... She was known as a two bagger. That's when a girl is so ugly that you put a bag over your head in case the bag over her head breaks

I remember the time I was kidnapped and they sent back a piece of my finger to my father. He said he wanted more proof !

I remember when I swallowed a bottle of sleeping pills. My doctor told me to have a few drinks and get some rest.

I went to see my doctor... Doctor Vidi-boom-ba. Yeah...I told him once... Doctor...every morning when I get up and look in the mirror..I feel like throwing up. What's wrong with me? He said..I don't know but your eyesight is perfect.

It's been a rough day. I got up this morning...put on a shirt and a button fell off. I picked up my briefcase and the handle came off. I'm afraid to go to the bathroom!

My father carries around the picture of the kid who came with his wallet.

My mother had morning sickness after I was born.

My mother never breast fed me. She told me that she only liked me as a friend.

My psychiatrist told me I'm going crazy. I told him...If you don't mind I'd like a second opinion...he said... All right...you're ugly too!

Once when I was lost.. I saw a policeman and asked him to help me find my parents. I said to him...Do you think we'll ever find them.? He said..I don't know kid.. there are so many places they can hide.

One day...as I came home early from work...I saw a guy jogging naked. I said to the guy...Hey buddy...why are you doing that for? He said..Because you came home early.

When I was born..the doctor came out to the waiting room and said to my father...I'm very sorry. We did everything we could...but he pulled through.
Everyone enjoy the season! Just Bill & BoBo .... I'll try not to do any more "whinning." But I won't deny being proud of this year's Blugold team.

Well geez guys, this is a real awkward moment.  But, as Popeye would say, "I yam what I yam, and that's all I yam."

bgbacker, you got a good sense of humor; bulk 19, your sarcasm is noted and I'll think and type more elementary just for you  ;D.  The fact remains, EC is 3 points away from being 0-3 in conference, that is undisputable, and that's what all this nonsense is about.  I'm glad you're proud and stand up for your team...good luck this week and the remainder of the season to each of you and the Blugolds.

I guess you can throw out the talk of La Crosse making the playoffs with 1 loss.  Unless they some how tie for first with 2 losses(dont see that happening).
If Stevens Point and Whitewater each win next week that would set up and interesting match up between those two the next week.  Hopefully it happens so it can make for an interesting week of Whitewater people dominating the board again. (thats a joke, dont take it to heart Whitewater posters)

WOW, if STOUT had a QB who could complete a deep ball they would have won yesterday by atleast 10-14 points.  Kattre missed 4 WIDE OPEN wr's running all by themselves for TD's.  Stout dominated the game, except for Oshkosh having 3 big plays. This team could suprise a few teams if they get some things straightened out on Offense

Wow, I had forgotten what vitriol could result from posting on here. Congrats on figuring out how to check my post history. For the record, I wasn't whining. I was just making an honest comment. I did not expect this from this year's squad. I do feel they deserve some recognition, although your comment about the ratings is exactly right!

As for my "credentials," I've witnessed over 350 football games involving WIAC teams and love this league. I also am a regular visitor to this site, though not a regular poster. I guess I will return to that role, since I'm not qualified to comment!

The saracasm may have been unnecessary, but the invitation was genuine.  We would welcome your experience (all 350 games worth) on the site.   Why wouldn't we want to talk football with someone who claims to see as many games as you have?  Please join us.

P.S.  Yes, you were whining.  ;)

Mr. Downtown

Eau Claire shouldn't have beaten Oshkosh, and they did.

Eau Claire shouldn't have beaten La Crosse, and they did.

So I agree, give Eau Claire some respect, and say good bye to La Crosse. I have to imagine that the 2007 season has lost a lot of meaning with a 0-2 start in the WIAC.

Umm...so did Oshkosh, dude. I mean, Patek had a great game throwing the football, but he still missed some big plays down the field.

As far as "dominating" the game is concerned, the Blue Devils played better in the last 10 minutes of the game. Too bad that a football game is 60...

WIACPOWER

J44,

You say Stout "dominated" Oshkosh.

Total yards Stout 408..Oshkosh 383...

Touchdown passes that should have been Stout 4...Oshkosh 3  (you forget that in your post)

And  did you ever think that with a 23-0 lead, that Oshkosh got a little conservative and really didn't have to force much offense (such as they would in a close game or it they were behind?) .

And you mentioned Stout lost on "big plays"...but even if a team doesn't have them, that doesn't mean your defense gets off the field, ,, or if you don't get it, let me put it this way.  A ten play 70 yard touchdown drive counts the same as a one play 70 yard touchdown drive.

Teams like WW and Mt Union don't always dominate the stats..because they have "big play abilbity" and don't need a lot of yards or 1st downs to beat you.

If you still think Stout "dominated" ,,,I THINK THE HEAT GOT TO YOU !!
