If you are a true WIAC fan interested in getting two teams into the dance you'll be rooting for Point this weekend, since Whitewater can certainly earn a Pool C bid on their own merits.

I doubt that's enough to get Warhawk fans to convert.  ;)

Ya, I'm kinda thinking that doesn't work for me.  Sure wish I could be a bigger person!   ;) :D ;D

I'm glad your not serious Just Bill...and 413, you're kinda thinking that?  To paraphrase John Cusack in "Con Air" (just happen to be watching it at the moment)..."you couldn't seriously be entertaining that idea, could you...?"  Good thing football isn't Formula 1 racing!!  That one brings a good chuckle, Just Bill.  ;)

Up until that point I've been impressed at how well you have kept a level head and realistic approach towards the Pointers chances, despite efforts, for example, by retagent to hype the Pointers chances.

It is pretty amazing how the discussion has gone from only WW and those other 7, to WW and Point, and now a 3 way tie.  Are times a changing, or what?

As Saturday gets near, a few articles showcasing players are beginning to appear in newspapers from around the state, for example:

From the Wisconsin State Journal, this one describes the circle route taken by UW-Stevens Point freshman QB Jake Swant in getting from Oregon, WI to Stevens Point.  Nice read.

In the  La Crosse Tribune, sophomore WR Tyler Keeney loves learning the game from the more experienced Eagles' receivers.

Be advised, you may need to register (free) to view these articles.

As that SP/WW game draws nearer I can't help but comment on Points chances.  If they should be competitive in that game, I would hope that your coaching staff does a better job of play selection than they showed me in that 4th quarter of the Stout game.  A sure fire kicker and Point is throwing the ball all over the place and they are in field goal range already. (nearly intercepted twice).  And regarding Points chances in playoffs if they don't beat WW.  Pat's information tells all.  Two 9-1 teams left out last year.

There will be no 3 way tie for first this year. Doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure that one out.

Lighten up.  I never said there would be a three-way tie this year.  We were talking about the tiebreaking procedure so I simply relayed the remainder of the rule, because I thought it was interesting.  Apparently you didn't.

I was lightened up.  I was joking and being sarcastic but I guess without putting in a smiley face or something I could see it being taken the wrong way.  I wasnt being serious with the rocket scientist comment :)

I predict a WW blow out Saturday. Of course, the last time I predicted WW would blow out Point was 2003.

If you remember, Point beat WW 60-30 and set several team and field records.

Maybe I will retract my prediction.

No, no! Go with it!  We'll take every bit of hope we can find.

I remember that game perfectly clear.  The one thing that sucks about playing Point at Point is that DRIVE.  It's like a 2 and 1/2 hour drive on that bus and we leave the morning of from Whitewater.  Would make more sense if UWW left the night before but of course, budget issues won't allow such travel.  I hated the long bus rides and then having to get off and play.

The Hawks will be fine, and I'm on the same line with Goo62 on the final.

Gosh, thanks for reminding me!  I nearly forgot to mention that Saturday's game has been moved to Superior due to "unsafe playing field conditions".

Wouldn't you know it?  Somebody accidentally left the water sprinklers running all night on the same evening that the Shrine Circus was presenting their "21 Elephant Salute to the Troops".  I'm afraid we couldn't risk the safety of your Warhawks in such a place.

I'm sorry that the 2 1/2 hour drive is now 7, but if they leave at 3:00 AM they'll make it in plenty of time.

Of course some people might argue Goerke Field always looks like that.

That's not funny I remember the trip to Superior we left on Friday morning stopped in Eau Claire at a local HS to do helmet and shorts run throughs and then got back on the bus to get to superior that night,  long trip on a bus with 40+ larger than average men.  Funny story when we got off the bus at the HS in Eau Claire they were getting ready for their homecoming.  we stepped off the bus and were getting our gear.  THis kid comes up and says hey your not XXXXXXX H.S. (cant remember the name).  Our nose guard says no they cancelled so your playing us tonight.  I though that kid was going to crap his pants.

Nice link Sak.

The Blue Devils should be fired up to play this Saturday.

Not only is it Homecoming for the alumni, but for the team as well.

In the 6 games played so far, only 2 have been at home with the Platteville game being in rain storm with howling winds and 2 lightning delays in front of almost nobody.  :P

The first home game was back in August before the students were back in town.

A packed house home game on a nice day (hopefully) will be a nice change.

Just Bill--as you suspect, Stan Z. is NOT running the offense. He has had an impact, both last spring during drills when he was present, and in the booth during Falcon games. Our O  coordinator, Coach Kotelniki, calls the shots. Does Stan have input? Of course. Why wouldn't we take advantage of his experience/knowledge? But it's not his "O for UWRF."

Hey, Fredfalcon, not to refute "Who is running the offense"--------but the Stout coaches tell me they just tossed the old RF tapes and replaced them with WW stuff to get ready for the Sat. game.  O'Grady will be on our WESTERN WISCONSIN SPORTS SATURDAY show Sat.  8-10 Sat. 880 AM or WMEQ.com and click on "Listen Live".  How about if we ask him????

I remember that game. I still wake up in cold sweats thinking about Scott Krause abusing us with his legs and his arm(2tds rushing, 4tds passing).........I've never felt more helpless in football in my life. It won't help much for this years Point team though, STP 16 WW42
