And, as a final plus, when a guy gets drilled by a Johnnie, he knows who did it to him ;D

I thought it was so Justin Beaver could look down and see who he just plowed over.   ;)

Maybe Point should put names on their helmets this week?

A tradition unrivaled...

That's exactly why they don't!

Actually, it would be really cool if the names were raised and written in reverse.  Then if you really stuck a guy you could actually emboss your name onto his body.

+k for Just Bill for doling out some nice shots, even though they sting a bit. When you show that you can do it, you get the right to dish it out.

Lets be honest the reason why point wont win the weekend and possible get dominated is because they dont have the nicknames like they use too.  I remember the announcer used to give each player sweet nicknames and he really go away from that.  This is why Point doesnt have a chance.
Also #3 is an UNREAL blocking receiver now lets get him some catches for all his hardwork.

Goo....I believe you were referring to some examples like Cody "The Kid" Childs & Nick "The Hammer" Haffele.....I remember being up there and thinking the announcer was a joke....but I guess it must have been their luck charm.

Prediction...........WW 31   SP  17
Contrary to popular belief, Justin Beaver was found to actually have a large "S" on his chest and he actually is INVINCIBLE.

I like the name on the helmet. Helps me identify players in photos. :)

Agreed.  Especially when there are so many players with duplicate numbers that play in the same games.

AP misidentified a player at the Stagg Bowl in '03 and USA Today almost ran with the missed ID, except I was reading my game story after editing and caught it.

I knew the ID because I was there but the desk chief wanted proof (understandable) before changing the caption. I pointed to the name on the helmet. :)

In advance of this weeks Purple clash I agree that Purple is a horrible uniform color.  Point and Whitewater a perfect examples why.  Point's purple always looks blue and Whitewhater's purple gets lost in their black accent color.

Whereas, Maroon always looks good - even when you're winless.

As a side note, could somebody convince that Platteville to stop trying to be the Florida Gators and darken their blue.  They look terrible!

ihavesomething2say

La Crosse might have the ugliest uniforms in the conference along with the Iowa Hawkeyes, I mean Oshkosh Titans.  La Crosse's colors are ugly and they look sloppy in their uni's.  Whitewater and point might wear purple but they look sharp.  Oh and Stout looks like Penn State

Last time UWW comes to Veterans Memorial and you think they will win?
No chance.

This Saturday will mark the return of the Maroon and Gray to dominance.

Enjoy your new scoreboard while you can before Lance runs your program into the ground.

Good to see you back. Do you think a couple weeks off helped you live down your inauspicious debut?

Old Indian I think I am picking up some sarcasm in your last post. Certainly you are in jest about the color maroon because it is an awful color and should be removed from the spectrum. The LaCrosse uniforms look like they were homemade....simply they are horrible. It took me a while to get used to purple but I got to say I like it now.....especially when UWW wears the new black/purple it is very sharp.....

Old Indian

You don't like the K-Mart style L with the eagle head poking out?

What makes LAX uniforms truly awful is the not-quite white, not-quite gray accent color.  The opaque white looks like a bodily fluid that starts with the letter E, don't you think?

I would guess that all you Warhawk idiots - I mean faithful - are backing the Colorado Rockies since they wear black and purple. What are you guys women, talking about color schemes?

I always disliked the nickname thing.  I just thought it was corny and embarrassing.  But I know some of the players and fans got a kick out of it so, whatever.

I've met the PA guy and if he was half as good at his job as he thought he was he'd be working at Lambeau Field.  I know a few years ago he thought it was funny to toss in some not-so-subtle jabs at the officials during the game.  I have a feeling that the UWSP athletic department reigned him back in after that.

Actually Retagent baseball is dead to me after September when football is in full throttle.....unless the Cubs are in the playoffs which is very very seldom.....I plead guilty to liking certain colors for uniforms.....maybe I am a metrosexual....

If Point's QB Jake Swank redshirted at Purdue (as the WSJ article implied), wouldn't  he be considered a sophomore according to D3 guidelines?
