I do.....I'll take a xxl in purple!  Yeah, I'm on the bandwagon. ;)

You guys might want to read the next few posts about the t-shirts after that original one quoted here.  Some of us are a little hesitant...

A very quick side note...

I think it is very interesting and says so much about the defenses of these two teams that every time they meet (save the 41-14 where I think the Cru was a little off their game) it is a low scoring affair even though both teams have high ranked, prolific offenses.  (what I consider to be the best in the country along with Mount)  Numbers don't always mean much as Washington and Jefferson was 4th nationally in scoring offense with over 40 points per game and ended up with 7 last Saturday.

Looking for a whale of a game!!!

Go CRU!!!  Fourth time is the charm!!!
YOU KNOW IT!!!!

Just kidding, but all jokes aside what do you Warhawk fans think the game is going to come down to?

It sounds to me like it may be another defensive battle like last year and could be determined by only 3 or 4 plays during the ballgame.  Turnovers like always could very well decide the game along with which team makes the most "big plays" when they get their chance.

GO CRU!!!!!!!

Yes, turnovers will be very important. Also, it seems that this game will be strength on strength....the Cru run game against the Hawks run defense....if the Hawks can contain the Cru run game, then they should be in good shape....judging from last year's games with Whitewater and this year's stats...the Cru doesn't have a strong pass game (why would they, given the way they run the ball?) and can actually get in trouble when they are forced to throw the ball (witness the interceptions by the Hawks in the first game last year). If the Cru has their normal success in running the ball then it will be a long day for the Hawks.

The Cru has a strong rush defense again but I think the Hawks will have enough of a passing game to put up enough points to win.

same can be said of Whitewater...a lot of dropped passes it seemed like last game, and Donovan was sacked six times i believe.

I agree, our passing game has to improve tremendously if we are to get past the Cru. I hope it was just a bad game or it was because of the weather. I do know that we'll be in for a long day if MHB can put 8-9 people in the box to stop the run and we can't answer that with an effective passing attack.

Another thing that needs to improve tremendously is the way we approach the 3rd quarter in these games...for the 2nd consecutive week, we have come out of half-time slow, a few steps behind the opposition...we're getting flat out coached and flat out-played...the question is why are we struggling so much in the 3rd quarters of these games?...now that it's happened twice in-a-row, IMO it's becoming a concern...obviously, the opposition has made good adjustments, but it seems we've done nothing to counter.  Any thoughts from the gallery?

Interesting that UMHB actually prefers to play UWW to Wartburg. Well, they got their wish!

...

Who's defending champ?

Makes sense to me.  You become the best when you beat the best!

So if they should win, I'd guess they will be really disappointed if Mount gets upset, right? Because winning the National Championship just wouldn't be the same without beating "the best". My guess?? Is that the hand clapping and cheering for UWW winning was bravado. I believe the cheering would have been louder if Wartburg had won. And my further guess is that if a score is announced that Mount Union goes down, and UMHB happens to be winning, the roar of the crowd will be deafening!

Not to sound rude, but have you ever had dealings with Texas football?  Fans in Texas are not rational.  0-3 hurts the pride, especially with the thumping in Wisconsin.  I'd almost guarantee that the loudest cheer was hearing UWW over Wartburg.  Shoot we were talking in the stands during the Wesley game that the Wesley win means UWW comes to Texas.  Not here comes W&J, not I hope Wartburg wins, but all we have to do is take care of W&J and we get Whitewater here.

I was living in McMinnville, Oregon in '04, and many Linfield fans and players were  disappointed that UMHB beat Mount Union in the semifinals - you bet the Wildcats wanted to play mighty Mount in the Stagg.

The day before the semifinal match-up in '04 I was getting a haircut. A Linfileld player was ahead of me in line. I wished him well against Rowan and then mentioned I had graduated from UMHB and that I hoped Linfiled and the CRU could meet in the Stagg. His comment was that they really wanted to play Mount.

Of course UMHB wants another shot at redemption against UWW. The third time was not the charm, they (we) hope the fourth time will be. And if the CRU is able to defeat UWW, being in  Stagg Bowl will be a reward enough. However,  if I know the CRU and their fans, they would love to take on Mount Union again.

The player saying that having the opportunity to play UWW is a "gift" was simply saying that the seniors have another opportunity to redeem ourselves against one of the top DIII programs in the country. A team, I might add, they have yet to beat.

The 06 game in Belton was the best 7-3 game I have ever witnessed. It was exciting and intense. There is nothing but respect for UWW among the UMHB faithful. And after an injury riddled season - the low point being the poor showing at Southern Oregon - I am proud of what the CRU has accomplished this year. Making it to the semis this year is a great accomplishment for the CRU.

Safe travels to Texas to our Wisconsin friends. We will see you at high-noon in Belton on Saturday.

Different reasons, but a similar thing might be said about the 08 Warhawks.

My guess is that the UWW team and fans were hoping to get another shot at MUC last year too. Trying to make Locker Room material out of the preference to play UWW is to not understand human psychology. I would guess even you cheeseheads understand the sentiment expressed by UMHB.

That was my reaction when I read his comment as well.  We had a heck of a lot of spots to fill but we managed to do it successfully enough to get to the national semifinals and have another shot at returning to Salem.  I have to admit that I wasn't convinced we could advance this far this year.  Not that I don't have faith in what our staff and players are doing but there was just so many spots to fill it didn't seem possible in a single season.

UWW's reaching the semis, yet again, is indeed a great accomplishment. Which only deepens my respect for the Warhawks.  My comments were not meant to be reflective of UWW, just responding to an earlier post.

No.  McDuff was more of a drifter type who prayed on women that were relatively easy prey.  He killed prostitutes and when the opportunity presented itself abducted and killed others as well, as was the case with Colleen Reed whom he abducted from a car wash in Austin as she washed her car late one night.

Yep. I think "even us cheeseheads" get it. UMHB wants UWW bad. It's understandable. Especially since they have no choice. If they lose it will be another year of wondering what would have been had they made it to the Stagg.  Because of their pride and competitive nature, they want an opportunity for redemption for the past three losses.  In fact, some want it so badly that they are willing to lessen their chances at a National Championship to get it. (Unless of course you believe Wartburg would have been a more difficult obstacle.) But it all assumes victory. Capping off their season by handing the Seniors an 0-4 record against UWW would be less than a sweet present. That's a comment that may have been a tad more appropriate after a victory, if they beat UWW Saturday. That's all I'm suggesting. And in response to all the revenge emotion generated by the UMHB faithful, please excuse the UWW faithful ("us cheeseheads"), if our simple response is this: "Be careful what you wish for."

I guess the "Fans n Texas are not rational" may have been the point I was trying to make. Either they convinced themselves UWW is who they wanted all along after UWW won, or they want revenge really badly. Redemption vs Stagg Bowl Championship. Hmmmm...

As I said in my previous post, my whole point is that this assumes victory.

2 Scenarios:
1. A Stagg Bowl Championship, having defeated Warburg College in the Semi's and MUC in the Stagg.
2. A loss to UWW in the Semi's, but the satisfaction of knowing they had that shot at redemption!

Hell, Tex, let's take #2. At least we gave our Seniors one more shot at dem boys from Wisconsin!

That about sums it up.  Better to go down swinging that to take the path of least resistance.  Like I said not rational, but sometimes its more about the challenge than the result.
