I have been present the three previous times to see the Warhawks beat MHB. I remember the first game vividly and after when members of our OLine were discussing that MHB was the best/quickest defense they had ever played against. Many of their players have moved on and so have our guys.....to be replaced by a young but very good offensive line for the Warhawks and some equally solid defensive players for MHB.....It should be a very interesting game. It sounds like MHB has a more balanced offense which hurt them greatly in the first three games. If the Warhawks can successfully Pound the Rock against MHB dline and win the turnover struggle  then they can beat a more experienced Crusader team....should be a great game. Dink won't have to yell at their cheering section since they won't allow them to bring in their customary garbage cans to pound on. Playing away has never hurt UWW....They have played some of their best games on the road and when the NCAA is paying travel and hotels are top notch.....Pound the Rock boys and Beat the Crusaders....Wish I was there.....

My guess is that the UWW team and fans were hoping to get another shot at MUC last year too. Trying to make Locker Room material out of the preference to play UWW is to not understand human psychology. I would guess even you cheeseheads understand the sentiment expressed by UMHB.

Was McDuff the guy involved in the TCBY Yogurt Shop tragedy?

Yep. I think "even us cheeseheads" get it. UMHB wants UWW bad. It's understandable. Especially since they have no choice. If they lose it will be another year of wondering what would have been had they made it to the Stagg.  Because of their pride and competitive nature, they want an opportunity for redemption for the past three losses.  In fact, some want it so badly that they are willing to lessen their chances at a National Championship to get it. (Unless of course you believe Wartburg would have been a more difficult obstacle.) But it all assumes victory. Capping off their season by handing the Seniors an 0-4 record against UWW would be less than a sweet present. That's a comment that may have been a tad more appropriate after a victory, if they beat UWW Saturday. That's all I'm suggesting. And in response to all the revenge emotion generated by the UMHB faithful, please excuse the UWW faithful ("us cheeseheads"), if our simple response is this: "Be careful what you wish for."
As a parent of a UMHB player I don't think revenge is the right word. Payback may be better. UWW has made the plays that needed to be made in the past 3 games. Better team on those 3 days plain and simple. Our kids are not using any postings to motivate themselves or use it as motivation for UWW. If anyone needs motivation to play this game then they have missed the boat. To be the best you have to beat the best and I think that is what the comments were about "sweet present", with the fact that we get to play this game at home.

My guess?? Is that the hand clapping and cheering for UWW winning was bravado. I believe the cheering would have been louder if Wartburg had won.
Not to sound rude, but have you ever had dealings with Texas football?  Fans in Texas are not rational.  0-3 hurts the pride, especially with the thumping in Wisconsin.  I'd almost guarantee that the loudest cheer was hearing UWW over Wartburg.  Shoot we were talking in the stands during the Wesley game that the Wesley win means UWW comes to Texas.  Not here comes W&J, not I hope Wartburg wins, but all we have to do is take care of W&J and we get Whitewater here.

I guess the "Fans n Texas are not rational" may have been the point I was trying to make. Either they convinced themselves UWW is who they wanted all along after UWW won, or they want revenge really badly. Redemption vs Stagg Bowl Championship. Hmmmm...

As I said in my previous post, my whole point is that this assumes victory.

2 Scenarios:
1. A Stagg Bowl Championship, having defeated Warburg College in the Semi's and MUC in the Stagg.
2. A loss to UWW in the Semi's, but the satisfaction of knowing they had that shot at redemption!

Hell, Tex, let's take #2. At least we gave our Seniors one more shot at dem boys from Wisconsin!

A storyline from a Texans perspective:
UWW (Defending National Champions vs. UMHB (National Semi-finalist) Only two loses last year came at the hand of the Warhawks.  Significant for UMHB due to their ten year history of playing Division III football and to play the Semi's against the Warhawks in Belton.

Wish all Warhawk fans safe travel to Texas.  Looking forward to a great game.

Forgive me for being too lazy to look it up but, can anyone tell me if the game is being web cast so I can watch or listen to it?

Toby Taff

Pat said there will be video.  UMHB will also live stats and audio on the web
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

Just kidding, but all jokes aside what do you Warhawk fans think the game is going to come down to?

It sounds to me like it may be another defensive battle like last year and could be determined by only 3 or 4 plays during the ballgame.  Turnovers like always could very well decide the game along with which team makes the most "big plays" when they get their chance.

GO CRU!!!!!!!

Yes, turnovers will be very important. Also, it seems that this game will be strength on strength....the Cru run game against the Hawks run defense....if the Hawks can contain the Cru run game, then they should be in good shape....judging from last year's games with Whitewater and this year's stats...the Cru doesn't have a strong pass game (why would they, given the way they run the ball?) and can actually get in trouble when they are forced to throw the ball (witness the interceptions by the Hawks in the first game last year). If the Cru has their normal success in running the ball then it will be a long day for the Hawks.

The Cru has a strong rush defense again but I think the Hawks will have enough of a passing game to put up enough points to win.

same can be said of Whitewater...a lot of dropped passes it seemed like last game, and Donovan was sacked six times i believe.

I agree, our passing game has to improve tremendously if we are to get past the Cru. I hope it was just a bad game or it was because of the weather. I do know that we'll be in for a long day if MHB can put 8-9 people in the box to stop the run and we can't answer that with an effective passing attack.

Another thing that needs to improve tremendously is the way we approach the 3rd quarter in these games...for the 2nd consecutive week, we have come out of half-time slow, a few steps behind the opposition...we're getting flat out coached and flat out-played...the question is why are we struggling so much in the 3rd quarters of these games?...now that it's happened twice in-a-row, IMO it's becoming a concern...obviously, the opposition has made good adjustments, but it seems we've done nothing to counter.  Any thoughts from the gallery?

I think the weather had a lot to do with the problems in the third quarter against Wartburg. We just couldn't get anything going against the wind and the punting was a problem against it. I was somewhat surprised the Hawks didn't take a safety rather than having Rosholt punt from the end zone. When he did punt it, Wartburg got the ball around the twenty yard line. I didn't think the third period would ever end!

Kudos to the Wartburg punter that blasted a 50 yard punt against the wind!

Hey Snoop, welcome to the winners circle. Tired of the one and out SCIAC I see.  ;) Your K's are still well below 10 degrees latitude but here is one for your road to karma recovery just for crossing over.  Even if it's just because the SCIAC site has nothing to offer except for GPA nonsense.  +k. Warning: No stupid DJ comments here this is scared grounds ok !!
Which purple bandwagon are you on ?  They both use purple for primary colors.
I think the NCAA web will be carrying the video feed like last year. If you can multi task I'd suggest that you watch it and listen to it on the web feed from Voice and team on the Warhawks network. Only way to go. They are the best in D3 IMHO. Pat and Keith will send out the link I'm sure. If your cheering on the Cru then tough s*#@ we can't help you here. Go away ;D

That was a hell of a kick.  After watching ours' rise to a height and then drop straight down if not blown slightly back towards the line of scrimmage I was amazed the way his kick carried against the wind.  It went nowhere but forward and our receiver had to catch it over his shoulder.

BWH and all you other WWW faithful... good luck to the guys this coming weekend.  Show MHB that last year was just a sign of things to come.  No mercy... run it down their throats all day long!!!

stealth.......have to cheer for the west and UWW.  The DJ affair is long over.  I'm glad for him that it all worked out. Good luck to the Warhawk's.

Best of luck to the Warhawks this weekend and the drive to get back to Salem.  Sounds as though it was a good game with the Knights last weekend.  I would love to see a UWW vs. Wheaton final.  I have family friends from Hardin so I am not on the MHB bandwagon.

bleed - Since we Johnnie fans know all too well how the UMHB fans feel, I may have a little more empathy for them - at least in the short run. Maybe Klop has it when he mentioned a UWW/Wheaton Stagg. That would overcome my dread of MUC/UWW IV, as well as have an all upper midwest final.
