Wrong!  White makes things, including people look bigger. Black, while proven to cause teams to appear "mean", indeed makes one look smaller.
If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

Jez, my worst fears have now been realized.  The legend poster, the man, the staple of all posters past and present, Janesvilleflash has gotten caught up in the "which color" controversy.  This really hurts.

stoutguy should talk. Have you seen his dog?

I don't like that picture.  It makes her look fat.

The guy broke his school record several times at the beginning of the 2008 season.  I can't find the stats but something like 52 to 54 to 56 yards. Then the wheels came off his team mates.

Their guy holds school records our guy holds the all-time national record.  I guess that'll have to be good enough.

For most field goals, career ... not longest in 2008.

I'm sure. I can't measure the wind on every kick but both players kick off the same surface at home games. I doubt somehow that Birkhofer had a statistically significant wind at his back on all three of his 50-plus yard kicks.

Yeah. :)

I think you guys who are hung up on percentage need to look at the distance of each made field goal. Linfield could certainly have kicked it a lot more inside the 30 and made Birkhofer's percentage look a lot better, but they didn't. And we don't need to see four field goals under 20 yards like Schebler has to know a kicker is good. The measure is out at the other extreme.

Schebler not making 1st Team All-West Region is certainly no shock to me.  He is the first to admit his stats aren't quite as good as for his freshman and sophomore seasons.  That is why he was at UWs McClain Facility and hour ahead of the team last week to correct a couple of mechanical flaws.

Birkhofer is a great kicker and deserves All-West Region recognition.  If it comes down to making a big kick in a big game, I'll put my money on Schebs.  He has been there and done that since the day he arrived at UWW.

Give Schebler more opportunites beyond 50 yards and he'll make more than he misses.  Ask Wesley about his 49 yard field goal at the end of the first half on a miserable frozen, ice covered field.

Light colors making things look bigger applies to paint and room sizes but on the football field, I will take ALL-BLACK any day!  ;D  Love your dog, Stouguy.  So nice of JF to walk her for you.  ;)

Granted and I didn't mean to take anything away from Birkhofer.  Until this morning I didn't know a thing about him.  I only meant we'd have to be satisfied knowing our kicker is the all-time national leader which obviously indicates he's a pretty good kicker too.  I guess only one kid can make the team and the voter's selected someone else.  So it goes.  We're still playing and Schebs is still kicking.  :D

One could argue that kicking the longest field goal means you had a good kick while holding the all-time record means you're a consistantly good kicker.   But I won't because I don't want to take anything away from Birkhofer.  ;)

I've read some good points, and of course I'm very biased. However, Jeff missed some extra points based on blocks as well. I will state that a kicker is responsible for most every miss, including at times his kicks which were blocked.

The Linfield kid is talented but 8 misses are 8 misses. School record aside, lets not forget the all-time field goal leader (Schebs) in his JUNIOR year. He deserves it.
