Congratulations to UWW on a great win.  I was impressed with how physical they were, particularly on defense.  Good luck next week.  Hope you bring home another championship.

Uh yeah, I called it the "Beat down in Belton" earlier in the week. Had to change it to "Kumbiya in Bell County" because of politcally correctness.

Wow.  I never thought the game would be that one-sided.

You know, I ain't complaining, though ...   8)

Great job, Hawks.

I have to admit I didn't see it either.  It was hard to watch from a Cru-perspective.  Your defensive pressure forced our mistakes today.  It was one of the best defensive efforts I have seen ever in D3.

Did anybody honestly see it playing out that one-sided?

Yeah, I saw you change it and laughed pretty hard about the new name the other day when you posted it.  +k for you on that one.

As a Mount Union fan, I did think that UMHB would win the game in a close, low scoring battle.  I was already a little nervous about potentially facing UMHB in the Stagg, but after the way you guys handled them, I'm really nervous about facing you guys.  Probably the biggest concern is that everybody keeps talking about how your big lines handled the somewhat smaller lines of the Cru.  Mount's lines are a little smaller than last year, and that was one difference in the Stagg.  I'm thinking it's going to be a close game this year.

See you guys in Salem.  I'll be cheering from the other side of the stadium than most you will  be.  Hopefully Nate Kmic will have an "average" day for him in the playoffs...average being 200 yards or more!

So, is the game seriously at 10 (11 ET)? The exact same time as comencement at UWW. If so, didn't they change the time last year? And, what are the chances of that happening again?

The chance is zero percent.  This year the Stagg Bowl is competing with 4 division 1 bowl games for TV time.

My question is who on Mount Unions team are we going to love to hate since Garcon is gone?
I still think he had a reason to be cocky as he did school the poor hawk DB's against us in 05 and 06, and then we returned the favor to him last year.
I am sure Mount has some new transfer WR from Florida on their roster who is almost as good as Garcon who we will grow to hate very quickly. They always do.

How many transfers are on the UWW roster?  I seem to remember there is a LB/RB that came from Illinois State.  I am so tired of MTU being accused of having transfer players, when actuality there are very few that come from higher divisions and contribute for the Raiders.  Garcon did play HS ball in FL, but he transferred from another DIII school.

As far as having another WR as a major contributor this year, we don't.  Leading Receivers from MTU:
Cecil Shorts III - Cleveland, OH
Vince Petruziello - Mentor, OH
Chad Reynolds - Wayne, OH
A.J. Claycomb - Medina, OH

Good luck and I hope to see another great game this year, just with a little different outcome.  ;)

Last year the Stagg Bowl was played closer to dinner time.  I walked in last fall's comencement at UWW.  I had hopes of going to VA for the game, but after the best 5.5 years of my young life, I pretty much I owed it to my family to walk.  In any event, we had time to go out for lunch and then watch the 'Hawks bring home a Nat'l Title.  What a great day.  This year I'll be in VA for the ball game.  I hope experiencing it live will be better than my first two visits to the Commonwealth.  Go 'Hawks!

Whats so bad about having transfer players?  We are talking about players making the life changing decision of which educational institution to attend at 17 or 18 years old.  If they make a poor choice, realize it and want to change it, I don't see any problem with that.

Lets be honest.  Ohio is a hot bed for talent.  If that state can support a half dozen scholarship football teams (including my favorite - Ohio State), its really no suprise to me that the OAC is as good as it is.  We used to called MUC the OSU Junior Varsity.  I'm glad that UWW has in some sense become the UW Junior Varsity.

I expect the Stagg Bowl to be a great game!  All season I've listened to people close to me (dad!) say," the 'Hawks can't possibly repeat.  They are not nearly the same team this year."  They may not be the same "team" but they are still going to get it done.  WE DON'T REBUILD.  WE RELOAD.  FINISH THE MISSION.  GO WARHAWKS!

Badgerwarhawks can answer this.  He always has the most accurate info and has recently answered this question in the last few week, I think.  Only a very few of the starters are transfers, however, I believe. Will post my thought and congrats in a little while.  You know how long winded I can get.  ;D

kirasdad, we have 50 transfers on our 52 man playoff roster and all of them are from D1 programs.   :D

The player from Illinois State, Tristin Borzick (LB) graduated.

Seriously, I think we have two who start and are on the playoff roster, Kyle Supanoski (LB) and Robbie Ustruck (OL).  Supanoski is from Truman State (MO) and Ustruck transferred from Concordia St Paul (MN).  I might be forgetting one.

A rumor that I have heard is that Garcon ended up in Vermont after he flunked out of the U of Miami.  Is there any truth to that?

I really didn't mind that you all picked against us but what bothered me is that you didn't think we could stay within two-three touchdowns of UMHB.  I mean, come on, we are the defending national champions.  We play perhaps one of the most difficult schedules in the best DIII league in the nation.  At least give us enough credit to make the game close.

None of the three of us picked UMHB to win by more than two TDs, BW. Keith picked it by 7 and I did by 11. If that's all the credit you really wanted, I think you got it. :)

That'll have to do, Pat.  Thank you.  But not one of you thought we could win let alone dominate.  All three of you will be picking Mount Union, right?

I should have included a smilie icon in my post.  That's the way in which it was intended.  I probably should have taken the time to recheck your predictions as well.  Tell Ryan to buy a clue. :D ;)

OK, I am calm enough finally to write my thoughts!

I CAN'T BELIEVE THE 08 WARHAWKS ARE TAKING US BACK TO THE STAGG!!!

Seriously, I have defended our ability to reload many times ever since the 05 Stagg but this exceeded even my expectations!  To lose 17 incredibly talented starters and to end up in Salem again is remarkable.  Congrats to the Warhawks and their coaching staff for prevailing over injuries, target's on your back, pressure from high expectations, having to be road warriors in the play-offs and that one lousy loss to UWSTP!  Win or lose yesterday, I was already content with a fabulous season for such a young team but this is just amazing. I have a feeling that you aren't done yet.  The 07 National Champs showed you the way, the Raiders are beatable, and from the way you played yesterday, they will know it too!  Again, outstanding play against a very talented Cru team and earning one more day to play!

Two years ago many of us close to the Warhawk program were pretty pissed off that Coach Z. got screwed and L.L. got the job......I was one and still harbor ill feelings for those responsible......That now has been overshadowed by the fantastic job L.L. and his coaching staff has done. This year with a total of 6 seniors on the team he and his staff have taken this very young team to the National Championship game a truly remarkable feat. Truly L.L. is desrving of coach of the year. Here is hoping Dink,Borland,Z.#2,and L.L. hang around a while but I bet larger programs will be knocking at their doors so before that starts happening I wanted to give L.L. and his guys their props.....Great Job!!!!......Proud to be a Warhawk fan and we will do our best to keep sending players from the Flatlands.....Pound the Rock!........
