Props to WW for a gritty performance after getting down early.  As I said on the OAC board, these two teams were clearly the  best of the best in D-III.

The officials were VERY shaky on both sides.  Figures.........darn MIAC!   ;)  Can they NOT figure out the clock or what?

Mount has two studs to replace next year, but the receiving corp is back as is most of the line.  At this point I don't see why there won't be a WW-MUC #5.

It was a great game, and of course I am very happy!   ;D

Kira & Jaxon's Dad

Congrats on a great season.

I too questioned all game why UWW wasn't running the ball right at the MTU defense???  MTU had no answer for the run.  MTU seemed content on playing soft in the 2nd half to keep everything in front of them.  Then, UWW ran out of time.  Should have pounded the rock in the first half.

UWW did do what Wheaton couldn't last week, stop Nate Kmic.  Tackling was super.  I was so relieved that MTU got up early with those two TDs, else UWW could have gotten control of the game, and clock, with an effective running game.

Hope to see you again next year!

Happy Holidays!

Great game, UWW.  You guys rock!

As for the missed FGs ... I blame the second one on your coach for wasting time trying to figure out whether or not to challenge (he should have) or not.  Your most excellent kicker had 5 seconds to get it down, prep, and kick.
I'm starting to gain the respect for your new coach as I had for your old one.  Can't wait to meet you again next year.

Mom

Agreed.

After watching the Stagg Bowl, Willamette should be proud.    In the 2nd half, WWW outplayed Mount Union.    Two missed field goals and a tipped pass interception return for a TD was the difference.

Earlier, if Willamette had a better first half, they might have beaten WWW.   Clearly, Willamette was the 3rd best team in Division III this year.    Reminded me of Linfield in 2003, giving Champion St. John's their toughest game in the playoffs.

Next year, the race for the Stagg bowl must run through WWW.    They had just six Seniors on this team.    They will be very loaded for another run in 2009.

To compete against Mount Union and WWW, the NWC needs to step it up a notch.
Willamette did it this year.   Linfield did for several years.

Congrats U Dub....I sure am glad you guys passed so much in the first half...your running backs were super and Mount was not stopping them with any regular success....
I was also surprised at the time wasted in the UWW final scoring drive as their defense may have gotten the ball back with some time to spare.. I dont know how long the final drive was, but they acted like they had another quarter to play...
great game, two great teams. same time next year is my guess...

The main reason I wasn't the first on this board from the OAC like I was last year is because I drove home directly after the game instead of staying in a hotel.

Wow...congrats to Whitewater on a great game.  Holding the Mount Union offense to just a field goal in the second half is absolutely amazing.  I said it before the game...good luck to the warhawks, but just a little more luck to Mount Union...that's about what it was.  Great game on both sides, and Mount Union and Whitewater may very well be seeing each other a year from now for #5.

Congratulations on a great season and another amazing installment of this growing rivalry. I am already looking forward to next year, but in the meantime, safe travels to those making the trip home and Merry Christmas to the Warhawk and WIAC faithful

Great job Warhawks representing the WIAC again. Well done!

snoop dawg

Congrats to the Warhawks on a great game and a great season.

Disappointed for the guys, but VERY proud of UWW tonight.

JUNIORS, SOPHOMORES, AND FRESHMEN:  Why aren't you working out right now!  :D
Seriously, great job guys. Work hard in the offseason and come back ready to get that ring next year. Warhawk Nation is behind you all the way!

one championship in four tries, at least you did better than Uncle Marv and the Buffalo Bills

Go Freddie!

One difference, UWW is just getting started! Does Coe College still play football?

On November 30, you said this to an MWC poster:
"I know you have almost no one to talk to over there, but you guys are making yourselves look foolish in here."

Now you are one of the "guys", go back to your little world where you belong.

Did he mention anything about the play calling?   Maybe admitting to not running the ball enough even though it was WORKING? >:(

I just got back from Salem. What a game. I won't go into game details but I simply wanted to tip my hat to the UWW Warhawk faithful.  You should be very proud. What a terrific and classy team. I saw many UWW players, who applauded and congratulated Mount and were extremely gracious after losing such a hard fought game. The UWW fans I met were great as well. This has turned into a fantastic rivalry.

I see UWW as a force for many years to come. Leipold has done a great job. Almost the entire team is back next year. The defense was stalwart against the run and your O line controlled the line of scrimmage. I fully expect the Warhawks to be in Salem next year. Hopefully Mount can replace some key players and be there as well.

For the rebuilding that UWW did this year, it was a remarkable run. Congrats on a great season and Happy Holidays to all.
