UWW's two-deep from this game.

Starters:
4 Seniors
11 Juniors
5 Sophomores
2 Freshman

Seconds:
2 Seniors
5 Juniors
10 Sophomores
5 Freshman

Next year looks great.

UWW vs. MUC Part 5 is very possible as Mount returns quite a bit too.  Obviously Micheli and Kmic won't be easily replaced, but the cupboard is hardly bare in Alliance:

Mount offensive starters:
5 seniors (Micheli, Kmic , TE Reynolds, LG Bird and RT Summers)
6 juniors

Mount offensive back-ups:
2 seniors (WR and FB)
7 juniors
2 sophomores

Mount defensive starters:
3 seniors (DE Millings, LB Yoder and CB Ely)
6 juniors
2 sophomores

Mount defensive back-ups:
2 seniors (DE and LB)
4 juniors
1 sophomore
4 freshmen

If one of the young Mount QB's turns out to be a quality player, Whitewater vs. Mount Part 5 is very likely

Emotion check:
Happy, yes in the fact that most thought that Williamette would be the last game of 08 and the entire team proved most of the nay sayers wrong, again.
Sad, sure that it wasn't a repeat outcome
Mad, Yeah I guess. the refs missed a major call in with the roughing the kicker call.
Dismayed, a bit by the play calling by not pounding the rock even after the lighting start by MUC. Clearly UWW showed the O line was superior. But hey I'm not the coach.
Proud, in so many ways. First that MUC showed all the reasons why they are the best in D3. First class coaches, first class players (witness after game sportsmenship) first class fans from what I heard this year, seen on the post boards and experienced last year in person. But most of all how proud I am for the effort the young men put in all year long. They could have hung thier heads low after the USP loss, nope fought through it like champs do. They fought back after being kicked in the teeth on Sat. They left everything on the feild and thats all any of us non players could ask for. 08 was a success by any measure in so many ways.
I'm Proud to be a UWW fan today no matter what the result was.
There's only one way to find out if a man is honest...ask him. If he says 'yes,' you know he is a crook.

Congrats to UWW on another great season. It is a very impressive feat to turn over the roster the way your team has and still get to the big game. Good luck next year.
GO FISHER!!!

stealth,

Not sure where you got the "most thought that Willamette would be the last game of 08"; I only checked the CCIW pickems (9-4 UWW) and OAC pickems (31-9 UWW), but that doesn't seem like most! ;)

Maybe you have to check the NWC pickem's, posters with the word Bearcat in their screen name!!   ;)

Precisely why I didn't bother adding up the WIAC pickems, either! ;)

We (the NWC) are the NESCAC of the PICKEMS.  We only have official contest during the regular season, no playoffs.  ;D

I'm usually on the OAC boards, but needed to come on here to make a comment.....Our son, who plays for MUC, made a comment after the game about how classy the Whitewater players and coaches were.  They played hard, but did it the right way (with #3 being a possible exception ;) )  I needed to pass this on to the WW faithful.  In my humble opinion, these are the two best programs in DIII.....  Congratulations on a great year.  With the players you have coming back, it looks like more purple next year!

A little late, but congrats to UWW on another fine season and a great game on Saturday.  As of right now, I'd predict a UWW/MUC Stagg Bowl in 2009.

Next time, stick with the ground game early!!

Great game...just wished the Hawks would have stuck to pounding the rock and also scoring TDs in the red zone...here are some stories from the local paper...O-linemom gets a mention in the story about tailgating

Pat,
Am I correct in saying that an official review of a play in the Stagg Bowl has to be requested by the officials on the field rather than the review official in the booth or either of the coaching staffs?

If so that doesn't make a lot of sense to me and do you know the rational for why it is different than D1 where the official in the booth decides whether a play should be reviewed or not?

I've noticed a number of posts here and on the OAC board from the Mount supporters picking on #3 for the Warhawks, mainly innuendo...I only heard the audio stream of the game and I didn't hear anything negative regarding his behavior on or off the field from the announers during or after the game.  Could someone please explain what all the fuss is about regarding #3 and why he has caught the ire of the MUC fans?  Is it payback for the negativity shown toward Garcon after the previous years contests by Warhawk fans?  Someone help me pleez!

b'warhawk, it was my understanding from listening to the broadcast that the replay officials upstairs in the booth had the ability to stop play on the field to review a play, as well as the on-field officiating crew...coaches can't make a request, a la an NFL coach.  Apparently, the replay officials at the Stagg Bowl were experienced officials from Virginia Tech and work the Hokie games. I may be wrong on all of some of this, but nevertheless, that's what I thought I heard...

#3 and one of MUC's corners got into it after a couple of plays. I did not see anything beyond what they were flagged for. (remember, both guys were flagged) I think the refs did a good job of stopping that from escalating. To me, it didn't look like anything more than just some regular emotion from a big game. However, IMO they both deserved what they got flagged for. Obviously, I couln't hear words being exchanged, but from the looks of it, the late hits seemed to be a little retaliation for legal, aggressive hits.

BoBo,

I'll take the Willamette fans to task for picking their undefeated team that was playing at home.  What a bunch of nuts for thinking their team had a chance!  ;)
