J heard yesterday that Coach Leipold was named Coach of the Year in dIII. I don't recall by whom. I'm surprised this hasn't been referenced here. At any rate - Congrats to LL, and the UWW program.

Just a side note. In reading this board for a while, it seems that the Warhark faithful is sounding a lot like the Johnnie faithful about four years ago. If any of you recall, you took us to task for being the way we were. Am I way off on this? Also, you have earned the right to be that way, and maybe now understand the mindset we had/have. It ain't so bad is it?

I don't know what happened when WSP played the Warhawks, but having watched both teams play Wartburg two weeks a part, there was no comparison between the two squads.

Stevens Point earned their victory against us but we did plenty to help them along with penalties and turnovers which included an interception in the end zone.  Regardless they made plays when they had to.

Stevens Point is a good program and generally has big, physical teams.  We know that and the truth of the matter is that no team, including WHITEWATER, waltzes through the conference schedule unchallenged.  The WIAC isn't the nation's best DIII conference top to bottom because things are breeze week in and week out.   We will have to play well every week to repeat what we've been doing the past four seasons.

As reported last week in various papers -

The Kansas City Chiefs will move their training camp from River Falls to Missouri, having won approval for $25 million in state tax credits to subsidize the move in 2010... The Chiefs have been in WIAC territory since 1991.

The team will use part of the money to help build a $13.5 million indoor training facility at Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph.

Another great season for the Hawks and all who followed.  2008 Senior class...REMARKABLE 55-5 record with four conference titles and four straight trips to the Stagg Bowl!! Doesn't get much better than that.  Know for all you MUC fans trashing number three...be careful he just set the UWW all time catches for a season and believe me that isn't a fluke!  By the way he is back next year along with every WR for the Hawks, on a team I personally thought was better than MUC this year, just ran out of time. 10 more minutes in that game and we have a different outcome, but we didn't have 10 more minutes and I am not making excuses. Anyways #15 for MUC, who was suspect at best, ran his mouth more than anyone in the title game...and comparing UWW#3's skills to #15 for MUC is like comparing Jordan to Paxson (not comparable)! So if 3 wants to talk a little bit and add some spice to his already great ability let him, I wouldn't trash him...You will have to play him one more time!! As for #15 talking trash you might want to hit the weight room this year and try to work on your change of direction a little bit otherwise some Soph. from MUC will be playing in your spot next year!

I like how everyone is picking uww to repeat back to the stagg bowl again next year. Not that they arent a good team, but lets Not forget that they lost at home, on homecoming, to a very good stevens point team who's defense finished #1 in the conference over uww. and they only loose 1 player on offense (brad kalsow), with one of the top offenses in the conference,  and a couple on defense (brad vickroy, luke frish, tylerflorzack) all with backups that were very capable this year.  I look at stevens point to repeat as conference champs next year, especially since the big game vs uww is in stevens point in 09'. Especially after talking with a few pointers and them having the confidence and experience now, i take them to go deep into the playoffs in 09'. :-X

This is why:

1. Only losing one starter on the 7th best scoring defense in the nation
2. Losing only three seniors on offense.
3. Three time All-American kicker (wonderful weapon to have).
4. Having the ability to dominate a conference that is ranked the toughest in the country (one loss in four plus years isn't bad)
6. Have the 2007 and 2008 DIII Coach of the Year (in as many years at the helm) calling the plays.
7. Whitewater's youngsters gained valuable game-time experience during the playoffs. Playing against the best that DIII had to offer, while other teams watched from home.

I'm sure there's more but it's past my bed time.

Making it to and playing well in the Stagg with the team that lost to UW-SP is probably worth noting, right?  That regular season loss is meaningless now.  UWW went to Salem, UW-SP went home.

And to add to your point about only losing three offensive seniors:
Stud backfield (both QB and RB)
Huge o-line
Did I mention that Anderson is ridiculous?  Big, strong, fast...I wouldn't want to see him in the opposing backfield.

I'd rank UWW #1 and Mount Union a very close #2, only because I'm not sure who's going under center.

Just a quick message from my home away from where there are no computers.  The library's computers were down as well so I am at a cyber cafe and they are shutting in 5 minutes!!  I just want to say how much I enjoyed seeing all the whitewater fans again and rooting for my guys for the 4th year in a row!!  I hope they enjoyed their brownies and madelienes.  I want to say a particular thank-you to RAcineWarhawk91 and his brother for the wonderful Danish Kringles that they brought me all the way from Racine.  I was non-plussed by their thoughtfulness!!  We are having those for Christmas breakfast at my family's gathering, so thank you very uch from my family to yours!!  For those who know, my Mom got out of the hospital the day I got homeform the Stagg Bowl so we have been getting the house and everything ready for the big holiday!!  Meerry Christmas to you all and Happy New Year!!  I hope to see you all again at the Stagg Bowl.  Stone Station sure plans to be there as well!! :) :) :)

I don't understand.  What is the purpose of review if you don't stop play to correct a possible mistake.  There is not way the roughing the kicker call would stand if it was reviewed in time before the next play.

As previously stated, penalties are not able to be overturned.  So yes, even if that play was reviewed, the rougher the kicker call would stand.  Also, if every play that was reviewed in the booth caused a stoppage on the field, I'd be willing to bet the Stagg Bowl would last 6 hours.
