Has anyone wondered how this financial crisis MIGHT affect UW schools? Is dropping all sports for the 2009-2010 season out of the question? Might the budgets be sliced to the point of canceling long trips etc.? Could the conference divide into north/south divisions to lessen travel expenses? Or will things go on as normal?

This will be interesting.  I seriously doubt that all sports will be dropped.   I don't know that just seems to drastic a measure.  And I don't really see things changing as far as the conference alignment is concerned.  Trips could be impacted particularly those in sports who aren't able to fund raise like some of the feature sports do now.

While you guys raise this question here, at UT-San Antonio, they've been approved to begin a football program and upgrade their existing intercollegiate sports program.  Any question where the $$$ is?  ;)

Note:  They will not be D3.

I've got a question for you, where do they post those jobs ;D

Warhawk 96. You said it well. Since I'm a hockey fan -  Alex Ovechkin's celebrations of his and his teammate's goals are fine. He's celebrating the achievement. Even the "snow angel" Wes Welker got fined $10k for is OK with me. Where it becomes demeaning to your opponent is where I get a bt of the red a$$.

Interesting story about the Boston College Head Coach and former UWW football player and alum:

"Boston College coach Jeff Jagodzinski has been told he will be fired if he interviews for the head coaching vacancy with the New York Jets, which is scheduled for Monday, according to sources...He has been head coach at Boston College the past two seasons, with the team finishing first in the ACC's Atlantic Division each year."

I'm sure it's a nice video, wc11, but I just can't seem to get it to load and play in a very efficient manner...maybe it's me...or do others have a similar problem?

Awesome as usual, WC11.  If you are a Warhawk fan, however, you just see missed opportunities!  Loads and plays perfectly for me, BoBo.  Must be your computer.  Hope you both had great holidays and 2009 brings you and your families good health and happiness.

...then your season would have ended three weeks earlier in Oregon.  ;D  ;)

Condolences to the UW Stout Blue Devils family, as one of the football team's players, Marty Platek, a junior defensive back, died in a snowmobile accident Jan. 1., according to the team's website. Cailtin Higgins, also a student at Stout, was also killed in the crash.

My very deepest sympathies to the Blue Devil football program, university and community but most of all, to the families of the two students.  What a tragedy.  My thoughts and prayers are with all.

BC went through with it.  Thoughts?

My condolences to the Stout community and especially the families of the two students killed. The tragic loss of young life is the worst.
