A scheduling comment for the audience today...I noticed one of our favorites, the Wesley Wolverines, will be crossing the country to play Pacific Lutheran on Sept 26. Since they are going to be flying over Wisconsin on their way, do you think it occured to them that they could schedule a WIAC school in dire need of NC D3 games for probably much less $$$? And it's in somewhat familiar territory - minus the snow that is! Do you think they want to avoid the WIAC at all cost? It would be fun to see how much fight they might put up in Sept as opposed to Dec.  ;)

KABOOM

Nothing would make me happier than for them to stop by for a good ole' Monkey stomping.. 8)...But I doubt it'll happen

PLU doesn't even have a football stadium on campus. They play at Sparky Stadium. As a matter of fact, some might argue that they don't even have much of a team, compared to the days of Frosty.

That's the difference between UMHB and Wesley...the Cru would go out of their way, I suspect, for a re-match with the Warhawks (any place, any time scenario), while the closest Wesley wants to get to Wisconsin is 32,000 feet overhead.  Oh well, watcha gonna do?

I have it on good authority that Wesley sent out feelers  too every team in DIII and a lot of DII schools  for games.  We all know you beat Wesley soundly twice but Coach Drass has never dodged anyone and I doubt he ever will. I know there was talk at the end of last year that Wesley had indeed been in contact with some WIAC schools. I know that at this point they only have 9 games because Del Val backed out on an agreed  extention and Widener had already decided not to extend. So maybe there is a game on the horizon .
Football !!! The ultimate team sport. Anyone who plays DIII football is a winner...

Several ex-WARHAWK players in attendance at last night's men's basketball game vs Platteville.  Derek Stanley was recognized as an All American in track.  Justin Beaver was in the house getting well wishes from everyone he spoke with.  And Ryan Kleppe has lost so much weight that it took me a second or two to figure out who he was.   I'm sure there were a couple others I'm missing but it was nice to see them there supporting the team.

Ex-Hawk Pete Schmitt also in attendance.  Should have got a pick-up game going matching the ex-Warhawks vs. the current Warhawk footballers who were also in the House last night.

Justin Beaver and AJ Raebel to report to Saskatchewan for CFL football camp by June 1st.  Justin tells Voice that he has been training hard. He has his right hand in a cast right now but will be just fine by the time he reports to the Roughriders.

Derek Stanley will with a slight limp as he continues to rehab following reconstructive knee surgery following an injury vs. Seattle late in the season.

Another ex-Warhawk football player is also making headlines.  former back-up quarterback Brian "Razor" Ryczkowski is a huge hit serving as mascot Willie Warhawk at UWW basketball games.  His trampoline-aided slam dunks are a huge hit each game.  Razor was the starting quarterback for the Milwaukee Bonecrushers of Continental Indoor Football Association (Semi Pro League).

Dividing the WIAC into North and South divisions is back on the table again, and this time the AD's are more than serious about it due to never-ending scheduling difficulties, and its being perceived as a money-saver in tough economic times. (Hope he's wrong, but my source thinks it is almost a done deal).

woa, woa, woa...hold up....what's this about? I haven't heard of this before. how would this be a money saver, by only traveling to schools within your division?? scheduling would be a pain in the butt. when was this discussed in the past?

What conference do they think they're running?? The SEC???  no way there's enough schools in our conference to pull this off.

Hope your contact is incorrect, no offense...

That's great news. Thanks for the update. As D3 fans, I think we feel that those kids belong to all of us in a way, especially those in our own West Region. Beaver, Stanley and Raebel were so outstanding, and it's good to know that they are still playing. I wish them the best, and hope the rehabbing goes well.

How might that work? The south play each other home and away, and play each north team once to make a ten game schedule?

Peter King on ol'#4 in SI.com made the Saskatchewan reference, too.  Maybe he'll be joining the 2 former 'hawks on June 1st...

...ok, maybe it was a tongue-in-cheek comment, afterall.   ;)  :D

JFlash, to answer your question, that's a "yes" with the North and South leaders to play for the title at season's end. Under that format, chances of sending two teams to the playoffs would decrease I would think.
