You would think a senior-to-be QB like Donovan would be prime captain material.  However, the rumor on the baseball board about him supposedly being an academic casualty following the first semester may be accuarate.  He is not listed on the Warhawk baseball roster recently posted. Forget the idea of him being a captain, would his return in the fall be in jeopardy, too, if this is in fact the case? You would like having that experienced senior QB leading the charge next season.

The hawks did get a QB transfer from NMU.  Matt Blanchard.. His older brother was a 3 time national champ for the enemy a.k.a. mt. union.  I'm not that worried about it just yet!!  Go Hawks

Mount must have had enough QB's already. Or at least ones he could not beat out for the position.

Even though he was "legacy" as was Kent Dorfman in Animal House!

See you next year at the Stagg ;)

Maybe he wanted to go out and make a name for himself and not have to live up to the reputation and expectations created by an older sibling.  With a 200 man roster, I'm sure Mount has quite a few options to choose from at the QB position. Having one less isn't going to make anybody there panic.

If that is indeed the case, I'll be pulling for JD to get his academic house in order first before thinking about sports. It must be very difficult to be a two sport athlete on teams that go deep into the playoffs.

I wouldn't be writing off Donovon for the fall based on the baseball season just yet.  A lot of rumors are flying and one of them is that his absence from the baseball roster may have been more of choice.

Is this for real?  Derek Blanchard's little bro is becoming a Warhawk?  If this is true, I'm sure that the Raiders are hardly worried about this one getting away considering the quality of their QB's over the years but it might make them think a little considering that they probably had an, "in," with him. Just further emphasizes the elite status that the Warhawk program has reached and with the quality of recruits coming in, looks like they have a good shot at sustaining it for awhile.

Looks like the prospect is 6'1" 190 lbs from the Sierra College football roster.

Why do you think that Colfax newspaper makes you turn your head sideways to view the pictures?  Or, is that only on my computer?

Wow, looks like the stage is set for an interesting QB race for the Warhawks 09 season. The program may fall victim to an, "embarrassment of riches, " at the position.  Awesome. I find it interesting that the article states that Liepold has been in contact with him since coaching at Nebraska-Omaha.

There just showing you what he'll look like when he's flat on his back.   ;)

Another Cal. QB headed to WW.

http://colfaxrecord.com/detail/107074.html

I can comment here. Colfax High School is a small school football power in the Sac-Joaquin football section in Northern California. They run a high octane, gunslinger offense and are known for turning out very good quarterbacks. Also, Colfax is in the Sierra foothills heading up to Lake Tahoe and the kids have a reputation as being hard working, tough kids. I can confirm that is true as we played them when I was in High School.

Sierra JC is one of the best junior college football programs in the state of California, definitely in the top five in a state with 100 plus programs. Trust me when I say this, if the kid started at Sierra he is the real deal.

Also, Sierra is coached by Jeff Tisdal who used to be the head coach at the University of Nevada for four years. During his time there he won two Big West conference championships and one bowl game.

LOL Apparently he wasn't on his back for long.  Link has him on his feet now and when he plays behind the Hawk's oline, that is where he should stay!   ;)

Thanks for the info, RFB.  Sounds very promising!

Sounds promising but I think Liepold will stick with JD this up coming season. According to the article he still has three years of eligibility left.

He'll probably have to compete with Langer in the 2010 season, which should be a good race. I liked what I saw from Langer in the short time he played...very mobile and can connect on the deep ball.

jvilleflash: +K, nice find on the article...how did you come across this, if you don't mind revealing your sources?
