A bit puzzled by something in the article.

Although the competition went off without a hitch, a thud behind a table where Green Bay Packers linebacker Nick Barnett was signing autographs Thursday morning brought cheesemakers running. Two salami-shaped provolones, each weighing about 100 pounds, had fallen off a makeshift goalpost.

No one was injured, but everyone noticed.

Barnett politely turned down cheese samples, saying, "It's not part of my diet."

But he did sniff and taste a smoked Gouda for a video camera that recorded the contest for the Internet.

"Tastes like cheese," he said with a grin.

So what the hell was a non cheese eater doing at a cheese competiton ? Some agent he must have.  ::)

As new national champion, this cheese stands alone!!

He was getting paid. If they pay me right I'll attend a PETA rally. I might still go to Texas Roadhouse and have a steak afterwards but I'd go to the rally if they're paying me.

:D  :D Nice to know he's staying on his prescribed diet!  :D   :D

Back from a hiatus the last few weeks.  Did some traveling for good and not so good reasons and have only had time for an occasional lurk.  I am sure you boys missed me as much as I missed you all!   So with D3 BB over with and spring ball starting tomorrow, maybe we can get the board going a little bit.  Any new transfers into (or out of the WIAC,)  ;)  to brag about, etc................ Bueller....................Bueller??

fbf413, whenever I hear that, it makes me chuckle...sounds like a prime time television star returning to the set from making a feature film during their break in production.  It's very Hollywood-ish!!  ;)  Good to hear you've made it back...most others are still doing that other "h" word - hibernation!!

For lack of any other topic, what exciting places did you travel to?  My major travels won't be until May. A few days in China and Vietnam for business, then onto India as a tourist, family in tow the whole way!!  Nice to be so close, probably would never be able to do it otherwise.   :D

Best to you, BoBo.  My travels didn't take me any place nearly as exciting as those on your itinerary.  All stateside for business and a relative's funeral service.  I hate the off-season........................ >:(  :)

BTW, not crazy about the new avitar, a little too, "Clint Eastwoodish," for me.   ;)

Anybody hear if WW's QB will be back. Since he didn't play baseball, I wonder if he is still in school?
If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

the champ is here to stay

I have kept quite on this topic. However I am going to say my piece as it was brought up on past pages. I am happy for Stan Zweifel. As he finally achieved his goal of becoming a head coach. Despite everything that happen his last two years in Whitewater, and yes there could be a book written about it. He is a good person, and an outstanding coach. Unfortunately he did not get along with some people (okay one person) who in the long run shouldn't really matter when the new head coach is selected. However (Because of who it was) it did matter.
Dubuque will be a powerhouse in the Iowa conference in the years to come and he will have them to the point where they can play Whitewater. Rome was not built in a day, and it will take time for him to build the program up
Let's face it coach Brez and his staff did not leave the covers bare, and for the most part except for this years freshman most of the players were recruited by the previous staff. When this year's freshman class is seniors and all of the recruits have been clearly recruited by the Leopold's staff we will see if the Hawks can continue their dominance. As alum of UW-Whitewater I hope they do. However all good things do come to an end, and their runs especially in the WIAC,and their runs of stagg bowl appearances will eventually end as well.

Alright, whoa, rein it in there, ok? Long way to go before anyone can make that claim.

Ugh, you should have kept "quite" a little while longer. This is a topic that I am sure has been spoken on, commented on, and rehashed again. We ALL wish Z the best and no one doubts the fact that Dubuque has a bright future. Will you please stop making the statements that all of the players who are in the program were recruited by the old coach and that "leopold" hasn't proven himself as a coach? Sure the "covers weren't bare" (whatever the heck that means anyways) ::) ::) but he was the one calling the shots and he was the coach that won the national title. You sound more like a dissenter and less of a UWW follower. We know who you are and it's not the name on the email.

As a supposed alumnus of UW-Whitewater, you sure do make a lot of grammatical errors and you even butchered a fairly common saying making it incomprehensible. To everyone from other conferences that like to act like there's no learning taking place at UWW.........this guy is not indicative of the quality of education we recieve. Most of us are very knowledgeable, can effectively form sentences, and even manage to use things like commas appropriately.
