A Beaver update....http://walworthcountytoday.com/weblogs/county-life/2009/may/26/beaver-ready-return-football-field/

Good luck Justin and AJ

Best of luck Justin and AJ

I was all set to head to Regina, Saskatchewan on Monday to spend a week doing stories on Justin and AJ at Roughrider
training camp for Warhawkfootball.com.   Hotel reservations were made and all that stuff.  At a meeting last Friday someone asked
me if I had my passport - OOPS!!!   Beginning on June 1st you are now required to have a passport to for entrance to and from
Canada.  Application for my US Passport Card  is now in the hands of the US Government.  I still hope to get to Roughrider training camp.
Riders' rookie camp begins on Wednesday, full training camp opens on June 7th.

According to a report I recently read, the passport requirement will not be strictly enforced for several more months (because so many people were unaware of the change).  You might be detained for a few minutes while they confirm your citizenship in other ways, but lack of a passport need not be a reason to cancel the trip.

Though it's nice to be mentioned I don't tend to put much stock in preseason polls.  Particularly by national publications who know almost nothing about small college programs.  But given the recent history of DIII football over the past decade I have to admit that it baffles me how anyone could rank any program who's name isn't Mount Union above them.  Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining and we do have a solid group of starters returning.  I'm very excited about the prospects of next year.   But I have to wonder, are they obvivious to what's been happening.

This is right.  UWW has more coming back than MUC.
National Champions - 13: 1993, 1996, 1997, 1998, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2012, 2015, 2017

It's not just how many are coming back, but WHO graduated.....MUC lost Kmic and Micheli.  Nobody, at any level, lost more than Mount when they graduated.

More doesn't always mean Quantity, as in actual Number of Players.  I was referring to the overall "Talent" coming back for UWW and lost for MUC.  Especially at key positions like QB and RB.  I can't remember a time in the past 20 years or so where MUC had to replace both those positions in one year.  Especially the quality of the players they are losing.

Where were you guys when the Red River was flooding?  With sandbagging skills like this, not one house would have been damaged.  :o

+K for that one.  LOL

I think it will be harder to replace Micheli than Kmic.  MUC may not have another RB as good as Kmic, but there are others in the stable chomping at the bit.  QB is a different story.  Not much PT for any backups the past two years, and no names are coming out of the woodwork during spring practice.  Maybe the new kid from FL will take over??

I appreciate the "sandbagging" comment....however, Micheli was a special player.  He and Kehres were so similar in their offensive philosophy and game-planning that Greg called the majority of the plays from the line of scrimmage based upon defensive looks.  THAT will be hard to replace.  He also presented a real challenge for defenses when deciding to run.  I don't see that ability in the "stable" of QB's at Mount.  Based upon what I saw at the Stagg, and what is returning for each school, I think the UWW/MUC order is correct.  UWW just ran out of time in Salem.

While I respectfully agree WW was scoring more in the fourth quarter it seems to me the game is 60 minutes and everyone gets the same amount. ;)

I too agree with the rankings. Two huge pieces of Mount's offense are gone but the defense is coming back pretty solid so I would expect them to carry the early load until the "O" catches up. Kirasdad is correct we have not seen much of the back-up QB but with Brett Farve transfering with one more year of elligibility I think LK can whip him into shape and get the most out of his skills. ??? ??? ??? Mount's about the only place he hasn't tried! :D

Does anyone have preseason predictions on the WIAC for this year?  Kickoff is 3 months away, but a little speculation and prediction would be fun!
