Whitewater hasn't moved. I think it all started with the dedication to strength and conditioning. People were held to a higher level of accountability than what they'd been held in the past.
Well, here is a scary thought then.  Coach Brown, UWW strength and conditioning coach for many years has been hired away to Oshkosh!   :'(

No complaints about that from this guy...  8)

UWOs offseason workouts were very intense already so I'm curious how Coach Brown will tweak it.

There is now no need for UWO football team members to show passes on entry to exercise facilities.  All the hassle gone and at least 15 extra seconds of lifting time - all the difference in the world.

Update from past posts:
The "real deal" quit the program after a couple of practices so I hear. Donovan looks great and Blanchard will be a huge addition to the QB corps.

Another Cal. QB headed to WW.

I can comment here. Colfax High School is a small school football power in the Sac-Joaquin football section in Northern California. They run a high octane, gunslinger offense and are known for turning out very good quarterbacks. Also, Colfax is in the Sierra foothills heading up to Lake Tahoe and the kids have a reputation as being hard working, tough kids. I can confirm that is true as we played them when I was in High School.

Sierra JC is one of the best junior college football programs in the state of California, definitely in the top five in a state with 100 plus programs. Trust me when I say this, if the kid started at Sierra he is the real deal.

Also, Sierra is coached by Jeff Tisdal who used to be the head coach at the University of Nevada for four years. During his time there he won two Big West conference championships and one bowl game.

Real deal!!! Saw this kid play at Colfax HS and a Sierra. A strong, intelligent, Drew Brees-like passer!! Ran a pass-oriented version of UNR Pistol, "high-octane" offense at Colfax. Had big wins at Sierra vs. San Francisco, Fresno, San Mateo, Sacramento, Sequoias and others. A California All-State HS QB while at CHS. Nice addition to UWW offense, hope he does well.

Well, now Falcon007 can post from the stands instead.

"The real deal" was traded to the Raiders for a future draft pick or the brother of another former Raider alumni!  :o ;D

The "real deals" don't always pan out.  It has to be tough on them when reality strikes.  My assigned roommate for my freshman year was a "real deal" from Springfield, Illinois.   He had lots of press clippings, but when it came right down to it his heart just wasn't in it.  He quit the team less than two weeks into practice and he was gone at the end of fall term.  I didn't particularly like the guy, but in some ways I did feel kind of sorry for him.

I feel sorry for him too, being from Springfield and all...

How many years of eligibilty does Blanchard bring to UWW???

Quote from: voice on August 26, 2009, 03:54:34 PM
Their was talk on the board this morning in regards to Matt Blanchard, a transfer from Northern Michigan.

Matt's older brother, Derek, was an All-American offensive lineman at UW-Whitewater's chief rival, Mount Union College. How good of a player was Derek Blanchard? He was joined by Justin Beaver as a finalist for the 2007 Gagliardi Trophy signifying Division III's player of the year.

KOOL 106.5 radio is running twice daily Warhawk Trainning Camp Reports.  The reports are podcast on sister station's Website. The Blanchard podcast aired this morning.

Here is the link to the Warhawk Training Camp Report Podcasts that have aired this week...

Blanchard redshirted last year at Northern Michigan.  I don't know if that counts as a year of eligibility when he transfers to a D3 school.  If it does he has three years, if not he has four.

Pat, could you clarify how a D2 reshirt year impacts a player who transfers to a D3 program?

Matt Blanchard is a sophomore, eligibility wise.  He confirmed it with me during my Warhawk Training Camp Report earlier this week on KOOL 106.5.  By the way, the reports (twice daily) will run up until Sept 4th, the day before th Hawks open the season at Dickinson State (North Dakota)

Some conferences refuse to honor a redshirt granted at another level of college athletics. The MIAC is one of them. I don't know of many others, and the WIAC should honor his D2 redshirt, from all previous indications.

Was anyone able to attend the UWW scrimmage last weekend against Harper College? I'm curious how the team looked. Anyone standout? Look of out shape?

I was able to grab some insight on Warhawkfootball.com..good work voice as usual.  :)

Actually, Blanchard redshirted in 2007-08 and played in 2008-09

The rules may be different between basketball and football, and they may have changed since the ouster of redshirting on the D-III level, but I can say, first hand, that those who transferred in after redshirting did not lose a year of eligibility several years ago.

The WIAC bylaws for football this year do not add any additional restrictions for transfers coming from a different conferences and note no additional restrictions for inter-divisional transfers (redshirt or otherwise) and the NCAA does not add any for transfers from D-I to D-II or D-III and from D-II to D-III.

In other words, Blanchard should be eligible right away and should have three years remaining (he redshirted in 2007 and played in 2008 per NMU's website).
